1 4 0 welcome This weekend saw our BRDC SuperStars racing in the USA, Brazil, Hungary and on the water at Weymouth! For Oli Webb his debut year in the Firestone Indy Lights series has seen him consistently in the points at the sharp end of the grid and bodes well for next year. In Formula Renault.5 Will Stevens scored a well deserved first podium of the season after a fantastic drive. He was backed up by BRDC SuperStars ambassador Sam Bird finishing behind him in fourth in the second race. Also in Hungary, Oliver Rowland was looking to win again in Formula Renault Eurocup. Sadly contact in one race and a track on which it is difficult to overtake meant Oliver s best result from the weekend came in the second race in which he finished sixth. After an invitation to race in the WEC Alex Brundle continues to make a big impression in sports cars. Although not back to full time car racing, Dean Stoneman s achievement in winning the P Superstock powerboat championship cannot be underestimated. As in circuit racing it is difficult enough to win a race, let alone a championship, so congratulations to Dean and let s hope he can return full time to circuit racing next year as his recovery from cancer continues. WILL STEVENS Hungaroring, Hungary 6 I learn something every time I get into the car, as I ve joined directly from the Eurocup Formula Renault.0. I m picking up the pace with each race, and the podium in the second race is a reward for all the hard work that Carlin and I have been putting in. Tim Harvey Director, BRDC SuperStars Formula Renault.5 Series WSR/ Diederik van der Laan/ Sebastiaan Rozendaal Will had a good start to the Formula Renault.5 Series weekend at the Hungaroring when he set an encouraging 0th fastest lap in Friday afternoon s dry practice session, putting him in good stead for Saturday. He qualified in th position on Saturday morning for the afternoon s 45-minute race. Unfortunately in the race he fell to 7th after the start and sustained damage to his car which forced him into the pits for a nose cone and front wing change. He emerged in 4th and was not in position to gain ground. With Aaro Vainio s retirement on lap 7 he moved up to rd and crossed the line in that position. Will performed well in Sunday s qualifying, setting the sixth fastest time of the session, just three tenths off pole, to start from the third row in the afternoon race. Will had a great start, moving up to third behind Kevin Magnussen and Antonio Felix Da Costa. After the pit stops he sat in fourth but was promoted to third when Magnussen retired on the last lap. He crossed the line to take the final rostrum position, marking his first Formula Renault.5 Series podium.

2 SAM BIRD Formula Renault.5 Series Hungaroring, Hungary It was a really challenging weekend for myself and the team. The fact that we were able to get points out of the weekend was a nice surprise, however, we struggled for pace from the first practice. I had an engine problem for first two days but, regardless of this, we didn t have the overall mechanical grip that other teams and drivers seemed to have. We will focus and regroup at Paul Ricard. The Formula Renault.5 Series headed to the tricky Hungaroring for races and 4 of the 0 season. In qualifying on Saturday morning for race one, Sam set the 0th fastest lap to line up on the fifth row of the grid for the afternoon. In the 45-minute race, Sam was shuffled down to th in turn one. On a track notoriously difficult to overtake on, Sam put pressure on Lucas Foresti on lap nine but could not find a way to pass. On lap 4 Sam piled on the pressure once more and this time came out on top as he passed the Brazilian to move up to 0th, the final points scoring position. The team discovered engine problems after race one and completed an engine change. Sam s car improved in Sunday morning s qualifying session and he lined up in ninth for the race. He made a stellar start to move up to fourth by the end of the first lap and was sitting in 5th after the round of compulsory pit stops. When Kevin Magnussen retired on the final lap, Sam was promoted to fourth where he finished the race. He now sits third in the championship. WSR Media

3 OLIVER ROWLAND Eurocup Formula Renault.0 Hungaroring, Hungary 5 8 DNF 6 5 My qualifying lap on Saturday was good and I could probably have been second if I d have managed to string my best sectors together. After Saturday s incident with Kvyat, it meant I didn t score, so I couldn t take any risks on Sunday that would have left me out of the points. I got Gasly off the line and Tarancon into the chicane in race two but then you just couldn t overtake, so it was a case of settling for sixth and some decent points. Oliver set the third fastest time in Group B qualifying in Eurocup Formula Renault.0 at the Hungaroring in Hungary to secure a third row start in fifth for the first race of the weekend on Saturday. The Fortec driver suffered a less than ideal start when he collided with Daniil Kvyat on the first corner. Oliver was able to rejoin the race, albeit from the back of the grid, and managed to race through to 6th of the 0-strong field. He set the fourth fastest time in Group B qualifying on Sunday to line up eighth on the grid for the afternoon s race. Oliver made up two places on the opening lap to move into sixth position, running behind Melville McKee. Although he put pressure on McKee, he could not find a way past and settled for sixth and four points. He is now fifth in the championship with four races remaining.

4 OLI WEBB Firestone Indy Lights Auto Club Speedway, USA The beginning of the race was really good and I had a good start and track position. I think maybe I pushed too aggressively at the beginning. Ostella was in my mirror and managed to pull away when he got past me and then I was struggling to have some grip on the exit at turns two and four. I think I just pushed too hard at the start. The Firestone Indy Lights championship headed to the Auto Club Speedway at Fontana, California for its season finale. Oli was in action with Sam Schmidt Motorsports in his No. 7 Lucas Oil/SSM Dallara. The final race of the season attracted 4 drivers and Oli set the sixth fastest time of the field in qualifying to line up on the third row of the grid for Saturday s race, the support event to the main IZOD Indycar Series finale. In the race Oil slipped back at the start and then set about a three-way battle in the final stages for sixth position with Stefan Wilson and Bruno Palli. He eventually crossed the line in eighth position, to score points on his final Indy Lights outing of the year. He finished seventh overall in the driver standings. LAT/INDYCAR Media

5 ALEX BRUNDLE FIA World Endurance Championship Sao Paulo, Brazil (4) DNF I was delighted to receive the call from OAK Racing and for them to give me this opportunity to continue to carve out a career in sports car racing. In the race Bertrand had done an excellent double stint. I then got in but we were unfortunate with the safety car s timing which allowed the Starworks HPD to make up ground and I had to defend on much older tyres. I really enjoyed my experience, especially at a circuit like Interlagos. Alex joined OAK Racing for the FIA World Endurance Championship 6 hours of Sao Paulo race in Brazil on Saturday. He drove the No. 5 LMP Morgan Nissan together with teammates Bertrand Baguette and Dominik Kraihamer. The trio had an impressive qualifying outing on Friday, setting the fourth fastest time in the LMP category, lining up th overall for Saturday s six hour race. In the race, the team was unfortunately forced to retire at the three-quarters race distance. They suffered a fuel pressure issue while in the fight for victory with the No. 44 Starworks Motorsport HPD team. Baguette had passed Starworks driver Enzo Potolicchio for the lead in the LMP category during his double stint. When they retired they were sitting in second and looking to retake the lead when the problem struck. LAT Photo

6 Dean Stoneman P SuperStock UK Powerboats Weymouth, UK Dean clinched the P SuperStock UK powerboat crown on Saturday with a double win off the coast of Weymouth. The -year-old is racing powerboats to ease his way back into motorsport. His season has been a great success, with he and his co-pilot Dean Paling winning a record nine races in P SuperStock this year. I just kept my foot hard down on the throttle and focused on keeping the top speed as high as possible on the flat water. It s always a great feeling to win but this is a special moment as it means I have now won titles on land and water. Starpower last reported on Dean s low-key return to racing in the Radical Masters Euroseries at Silverstone during the FIA Formula weekend.
