1 September 2015 President Jim Allen Vice President Toby Halliday Sergeant at Arms Bob Halliday Treasurer Bob Knudsen RPM is a club created for the building and enjoyment of race car and sports car scale models Treasures Report was $ A check was issued to Scott H. for $300 for the purchase of the kits that we are donating to Nordic Con. The business portion of the meeting was fairly light on content. There was some discussion about sponsoring an awards package for the R5 regional, and it was decided to pass on it this year as we just sponsored 2 packages at the IPMS Nationals. Some local shows were discussed including the turn out at the Muscle Car Classic, the upcoming Pantowners show in St. Cloud, and Nordic Con October 24 th. We are booked at the Edina Library for September and October. Some new and upcoming kit releases were discussed. Jim Mulligan led a discussion on rattle can painting even changing his vocabulary to get a G rating! Russ Murray did a demo on polishing photo-etch. Everyone had cake for Mark Egge s birthday, and he got a couple kits that he thinks he should be able to get done. September is Swap Meet month! Please bring small bills to make change with. Hi Guys and Gals. Welcome to late summer and early fall! Hope you have had a great summer, hasn t it been nice? Going forward, our kit sale, swap meet monthly meeting is upon us. Boy, I can t wait, this is always one of our best meetings throughout the year. I am going through my stash and picking out kits I know I will never build, which gives you all a chance to buy them and build them! Bring on the September meeting, Yeah!! I want to thank Toby Halliday for producing our Awesome newsletter in the past months. He has been filling in for Clint Williams while he took care of some personal business. Hopefully, Clint will be back doing it very soon. We all thank you again, Toby! We ll be meeting at the Edina Library for this month, and October, which is great, we kind of consider this our home, don t we? Hope you all are building, the October Nordicon, and November Contest are coming. I painted my Shelby project yesterday, so should be ready for our November contest. Remember, we have extended our 60 s Stock Car Challenge to the November Contest, if you are working on your race car, great, look forward to seeing it then. October will be our Out of the Closet month, which is always fun, will be nice to see what else you all have built, or are working on. Till then, think Swap Meet!! See you on the 19th! Jim

2 Local Contest/Shows RPM helped out with the Muscle Car Classic model contest this year, and it was a great success! This was the first year back for it after a long hiatus, and it sounds like the organizers of the car show were very happy with the model car turn out. There were 4 awards to give out and our own Bob Knudsen and Tyler Halliday each received one of them. The other local show in August was at the St.Cloud Pantowners car show. Thanks to some RPM members making the trip to St.Cloud, the show was also a great success. Torben Rothgeb, Doug Long, Toby Halliday, and Tyler Halliday all received outstanding awards, while Dean Kuitunen, Paul Huntington, and Paul O Brien received model kits. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported these local shows! Hopefully with RPM s continued support, the organizer s will be able to secure some extra funds to grow the amount of awards and prizes in the future. On The Table By Bob Maderich Well, it was dirt month and we had a lot of dirty cars on the table from the group. Russ Murray had a Snap-tite Ford truck and an "interesting" Van, a '97' Dodge to be precise with some 'different' sponsorship. Tom Finch brought in two cars, WHAT???, yes two cars. a '70' Dodge Coronet-Pro street and a '69' Ford Torino for us. And of course, he declared it Suzuki month, so there were 3 bikes for us. A 2001 Moto GP bike, a Katana, and Kevin Schwantz's 1988 GP bike. Bob Maderich had two of the Kurtis Midgets for us, one was the recent Revell kit and the other was the Etzel kit. He also had an Etzel Kuzma, a Mitsbushi Paris-Dakar vehicle and a '37' Chevy Modified on display. Bob Maderich A BIG 1/8 scale, Alfa 8C 2300 was brought in by Scott Harvieux. It was a built Pocher kit depicting the Mullato version of this iconic car

3 More On The Table Bob Maderich Bob Maderich Jim Kampmann got down and dirty with his Corvair modified with a '37' Chevy chassis and running gear underneath it. Bob Knudson finished his "Son of Ford" 34 Ford roadster and it was resplendent. He built it from the old Monogram kit. Bob Halliday had his Nats award winning '68' Hemi Road Runner for us to drool over. Bob Halliday Tyler Halliday gave us two cars; another '60' Valiant with lots of kit bashed parts and a Ross Gibson motor, and a resin bodied '50' Ford Custom.

4 More On The Table Jim Allen had his usual array of great models on the table for us. The first one was a MPC 57 Chevy short track stock car modeled after a local racer from The 2 nd, a 1989 ASA Ford T-Bird short track asphalt stock car, painted with testors paints, and mostly home made decals. The 3 rd one was a short track Mustang Modified, built as a asphalt racer, and painted with Tamiya paints, and Slixx decals. The last one was a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner short track dirt stock car with a lot of scratchbuilt and modified parts. Bill Johanneck graced the table with a '71' Cuda and a Loooooong '50' Ford limo in progress. Bill Johanneck Bill Johanneck But the king of dirt this month was unquestionably, he brought 14, yes 14 dirt cars! They were: 3 Kurtis Midgets, a 1914 Delage Indy 500 winner(not really a dirt car), the '999' of Henry Ford, a bobtail midget, 3 Sprint cars, a Kuzma, an IMCA modified, a Grant King sprinter, a Don Edmunds Super Modified, and an old Monogram Midget with a Falcon motor. WHEW, Don, no more dirt months for you!
