2 Welcome! Thank you for choosing the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg for your summer child care. At the Y, we take great pride in providing a safe and secure environment while nurturing the potential of children with play-based activities that encourage them to develop relationships and selfworth. We look forward to a summer filled with fun and excitement! How to Access the Child Care Centre Please enter through the front side doors, on the right-side of the building; using the Black buzzer system labeled Kim Kids. The centre is located in the lower level. Only individuals listed on the registration form are eligible to pick children up at the end of the day. Please ensure they bring photo ID, as centre staff will ask for this information.
3 What to Bring on Day One Please bring the following items on day one, as your child(ren) will need them daily: Weather appropriate clothing, including hat, sweater or jacket, rain gear Socks Outdoor shoes (closed-toe preferred; no flip flops please) Indoor shoes to be left at the centre Water bottle Lunch (no warm-up items on field trip days; a microwave and cutlery will be available and we will provide milk and/or water at lunch time) Towel and swimsuit Bug spray and sunscreen (unless you are using the centre s) A change of clothing and a bag to put wet clothes in Signed forms (these can be found at the back of this guide) Please remember to label all items with your child s first and last name. The YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Lunch Nut Aware Facility We are a nut aware facility. Please do not bring any products containing nuts or traces of nuts into the centre. This includes Tim Hortons items. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided by the child care centre. A menu is posted in the centre. Field Trips A signed consent form is required by all children to attend field trips. We will be travelling either by foot, by city bus or by a chartered bus. Information and consent forms for each field trip are located at the end of this guide. Further information and reminders will be provided prior to each field trip. When we are away from the centre, we can be reached throughout the day by calling the center cell phone at Other Information Children will have daily opportunities to play outside. From time-to-time, outdoor play may include neighbourhood walks or visits to parks. When this is the case, we will post our location and expected time of return on the outside of the front door.
4 Children will have opportunities to play in the EK YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg facility gymnasium and play structure on Fridays 1:30pm 3:30pm. Children will also the opportunity to swim on these days. The Centre is closed on Monday, July 2 nd for Canada Day The Centre is closed on Monday, August 6, for Terry Fox Day Any new notices will be posted on the parent board (in the hallway as you centre the centre area) as they arise throughout the week. 6 Forms At the end of this guide you will find: Photo and Video Consent, Assignment & Release form Sunscreen & bug spray consent form Field Trip consent forms (please sign and return the forms applicable to the dates your child is registered). We ask that all signed forms be handed in to the Centre Supervisor on your first day of program. Forms are required for each child in your family. 7 Photo and Video Consent, Assignment and Release Form PURPOSES: For marketing, advertising, promotional and/or communication purposes, the YMCA may, from time to time, take photographs and/or video recordings of YMCA based activities or events that include real people, which photographs and video recordings will be placed in the YMCA National Photo Bank and which may be used by the YMCA in Canada and elsewhere in the world, for its own informational, promotional or advertising purposes, and by any other person authorized by YMCA (an Authorized Third Party ) to use such photos or video recordings, in any part of the world, in connection with such Authorized Third Party s support for, association with, or arrangements with, YMCA (collectively, the Purposes ). For purposes of this Form, YMCA refers to YMCAs and YMCA-YWCAs in Canada or elsewhere in the world (as part of the World Alliance of YMCAs) and to YMCA Canada, and the World Alliance of YMCAs.
