1 State of California AIR RESOURCES BOARD EXECUTIVE ORDER D Relating to Exemptions Under Section of the California Vehicle Code Research, Inc. EX Pursuant to the authority vested in the Air Resources Board by Sectlon of the Vehicle Code; and Pursuant to the authority vested in the undersigned by Section and Section of the Health and Safety Code and Executive Order G ; C ITIS ORDERED AND RESOLVED: That the installation of the EX, produced and marketed by Research, Inc. of Mendenhall Drive, Suite 105, North Las Vegas, Nevada 89081, has been found not to reduce the effectiveness of the applicable vehicle pollutlon control systems and, therefore, is exempt from the prohibitions of Section of the Vehicle Code for the followmg on road motorcycle applications as listed in. The EX is an electronic control module (ECM) that works with the stock motorcycle s ECM. It is installed in series with the stock wiring harness of the ECM. The EX allows the user to adjust, within preset levels, the amount of fuel going into the combustion chamber. Ignition timing modifications are also allowed for Harley Davidson motorcycles, but limited to maximum 4 degrees advance and 10 degrees retard. Modifications are made using a computer; there are no user adjustments on the device. Installation does not require the modification or removal of any sensor or emission control device. _ This Executive Order is valid provided the installation instructions for the Power Commander V EX will not recommend tuning the motorcycle to specifications different from those of the Research, Inc. Changes made to the design or operating conditions of the EX as exempt by the Air Resources Board, which adversely affect the performance of the vehicle s pollution control system shall invalidate this Executive Order. Marketing of the EX using any identification other than that shown in this Executive Order or marketing of the EX for an application other than. those listed in this Executive Order shall be prohibited unless prlor approval is obtained from the Air Resources Board. This Executive Orderdoes not constitute any opinion as to the effect the use of the Power Commander V EX may have on any warranty either expressed or implied by the vehicle manufacturer.

2 This Executive Order is granted based on prior submitted emission test data generated on four motorcycles in support of Executive Order D 619. Test results showed that emission levels met the applicable emission standards when tested using the Cold Start CVS 75 Federal Test Procedure (FTP).
