2 Relay For Life of Winter Garden April 24 25, 2015 Historical Downtown Winter Garden Relay For Life is not just a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society; it is the American Cancer Society embodying its emphasis on cancer control education, honoring those persons whose lives have been lost to cancer, and celebrating cancer survivors. It is both lots of fun and very emotional. It brings out the best in each participant and volunteer as we come together as a community with the common goal to make a difference in the fight against cancer! Relay is comprised of many different teams that come out and set up campsites around a walking path. These teams are made up of friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors usually consist of between people. Many teams have cancer Survivors & Caregivers on them. The event starts with a Victory Lap! This is the first lap walked by all of our courageous Survivors. A special time is also set aside during the Relay to honor the Caregivers who help support Survivors through their journey. Following the first lap, each team is encouraged to keep at least 1 team member on the track at all times through the end of the event. Cancer never rests neither do we! The American Cancer Society s Relay For Life of Winter Garden will be hosting its 5 th event in this community on April 24, 2015! The Relay in Winter Garden is one of the top events in Central Florida with over 2,000 attendees. Over the course of 19 years the West Orange communities, the volunteers and community partners have raised over $2.7 million. The Relay For Life of Winter Garden covers the following communities, Winter Garden, Ocoee, Oakland & Windermere.
