1 5 PIN BOWLING TECHNICAL PACKAGE 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games February 18-24, 2018 North Battleford, Saskatchewan 1.0 SPORT: 1.1 Competition Site: Gutters Bowling Centre 1.2 Competition Dates: February 21-24, Sanction: Yes 2.0 PARTICIPANTS: 2.1 Number of Competitors per District: Male: 5 Female: 5 Mixed: 4 Team formation is not subject to a given male/female ratio and teams may also be exclusively males or females. 2.2 Coaches and Managers per District: Male 1 Female 1 One coach per team. Should the coach for the men s team be female, or should the coach for the female s team be male; a district manager of the same gender will be appointed to the team in question. 1 Coach 1 Manager In order to adhere to the standard 1:4 volunteer to athlete ratio, a manager must accompany each bowling team. Note: Sports that have both male and female competitors must ensure that at least one coach/manager is of the opposite gender of the other(s)
2 3.0 CLASSIFICATIONS: 3.1 Year of Birth: Must be twelve years of age as of commencement of the games and not seventeen as of commencement of the games. All Competitors must be born in 1978 or later. Note: All Special Olympics athletes for the Saskatchewan Games must be a minimum of 10 years of age and a maximum of 40 years of age upon commencement of the Games competition. Team selection priority will go to athletes aged 10 to ELIGIBILITY: 4.1 Athletes: Each athlete must be registered and in good standing with a Member Organization of the Bowling Federation of Saskatchewan. All athletes must abide by the residency criteria and regulations outlined in the Saskatchewan Games Handbook. Each athlete and team must be registered and in good standing with an accredited Special Olympics Saskatchewan District/Community. All 4 athletes on the team must reside or attend school within the same Saskatchewan Games District they plan to represent. All athletes must be registered with the team that they are playing on. The team must have been training in the sport that they are competing in for a minimum of three months or thirty hours prior to Saskatchewan Games. Each team will be required to participate in on District Qualifying Competition during the year preceding Games. 4.2 Coaches: 4.1 Community Coach certified as of December 31, Coaches and managers must have a Criminal and Vulnerable Sector record check. Coaches must complete the Respect in Sport on-line training program Coaches and managers must have a Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Record check. Coaches must complete the Respect in Sport on-line training program Coaches must have at a minimum: - NCCP-SOC Level 1 Certification or SOC Competition Sport In Training or Trained And - 5-Pin Bowling Level 1 or the Community Coach And - Be a member in good standing with Special Olympics Saskatchewan.

4 7.0 COMPETITION: 7.1 Type of Competition A Team Only match play format shall be used to determine the standings in the Single round robin. Three (3) points will be awarded to the team with the higher POA (based on averages as of December 31 st, 2017 with a minimum of 24 games bowled). It is a S5PBA sanctioned event and thus C5PBA rules will be followed. NOTE: As per Special Olympics Canada 5-Pin Bowling Tournament Rules, An individual with a visual impairment may have their coach give them pre- Delivery assistance. The coach may properly align the athlete, but cannot Assist in the delivery of the ball. 7.2 Events: Team and Singles 7.3 Playoff Format: Top three (3) teams will advance to a stepladder final after the single round robin. The top qualifier in the team and singles round robin must be beaten twice in the stepladder final. 8.0 RESULTS: 8.0 Results Program Final standings for the top 3 teams and singles based on results of the stepladder final. Positions for the remaining teams and singles based on their round robin finish. 8.1 Results Format Sec Sport Scoring Sec TIE BREAKING PROCEDURE: Ties will be broken with a one game roll off.
5 10.0 SPORT PROTEST PROCEDURE: All protests must be submitted in writing within 30 minutes of the completion of the game under protest. In cases involving disputed pin fall (i.e. Slow falling pins) the decision of the Judge of Play is FINAL EQUIPMENT: Personal balls may be used but are subject to random inspection. Personal balls Must conform to standards: Weight 3 lbs. 6 oz. to 3 lbs. 10 oz. Diameter 4 ¾ inches to 5 inches SPORT JURY: Provincial Technical Liaison (Generic and Special Olympics), Tournament Director OFFICIALS REQUIRED: 13.1 Major Officials: Chief Judge of Play Judges of Play (2 per shift) 13.2 Minor Officials: Results Coordinator Statistician 14.0 MEDICAL SERVICES: St. John s Ambulance (Medical personnel should be familiar with Special Olympics athletes) MEDALS Event Gold Silver Bronze Teams Singles Special O: Teams Singles Total DISTRICT TEAMS SELECTION CRITERIA Each District will hold a roll-off to select team members. All teams must submit a complete team roster with the Provincial Office by November 30,2017. Any team member listed on the final team roster must have participated in the District Qualifying Competition. Teams must conform to standards set out in Sections 4.1, Athlete Eligibility and 4.3, Exclusions.
6 The 2017 Bob Pedde Memorial Bowling Tournament has been sanctioned by Special Olympics Saskatchewan as the qualifier for the 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games.
