5 Tissue paper Part 5: Disposable wiping paper (in rolls) 1 Scope This part of SANS 1887 covers three types of tissue paper in rolls, intended for use as wiping paper in industrial, workshop, laboratory, office, agricultural and other environments where hands and tools and other equipment need to be wiped, cleaned or dried. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. SANS , Tissue paper Part 1: General requirements. 3 Definitions For the purposes of this part of SANS 1887, the definitions given in SANS apply. 4 Requirements 4.1 Type Rolls of wiping paper shall be of one of the following types, as specified by the purchaser (see annex A): Type 1 (economy grade): an economy single-ply lower grammage grade intended for use where a cheap, reasonably strong, reasonably absorbent tissue is required, but where appearance and softness are relatively unimportant. The major area of application would be where heavily soiled items require cleaning that necessitates the use of large quantities of wiping paper, e.g. workshops. Type 2 (standard grade): a standard single-ply grade intended for use where a wet strength tissue is required, with reasonable qualities of appearance, strength, absorbency and softness. The general area of application would be the likes of light workshops and sculleries. 3
