They were graded by D.E.A. agents on their entry, situation control, their search of the residence, arrest techniques, and identification and preservation of evidence. 1st place Team 1 Crow Wing County Sheriff 2nd place Team 1 Coon Rapids Police 3rd place Team 1 Blaine Police 4th place Team 1 Minnetonka Police 5th place Team 1 Maple Grove Bomb Threat Response: Sponsored by the United States Department of Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. Explorers responded to a bomb threat call in a small business. Scores were determined by the explorer's assessment of the situation, their interviewing skills, and their overall resolution to the crisis. 1st place Team 2 Saint Paul Police 2nd place Team 1 Rochester Police 3rd place Team 1 Saint Louis Park Police 4th place Team 2 Circle Pines/Lexington Police 5th place Team 3 Stearns County Sheriff Burglary in Progress: Sponsored by the Minnetonka Police Department. Explorers were dispatched to a possible burglary in progress. They were evaluated on their ability to gather facts and their safe execution of a search of the home. 1st place Team 3 Stearns County Sheriff 2nd place Team 1 Coon Rapids Police 3rd place Team 1 Minnetonka Police 4th place Team 2 Minnetonka Police 5th place Team 3 Edina Police Crime Prevention: Sponsored by the Minnesota Crime Prevention Practitioners, Inc. Explorers were asked to complete a crime prevention survey of an apartment complex. Ratings were measured by the explorers' knowledge of neighborhood watch, CPTED (crime prevention through environmental design), community policing, overall crime prevention tactics, and public speaking skills. 1st place Team 4 Washington County Sheriff 2nd place Team 1 Circle Pines/Lexington Police 3rd place Team 1 Richfield Police 4th place Team 3 Fridley Police 5th place Team 1 Apple Valley Police
2 Crime Scene Search: Sponsored by the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department. Explorers were tested in their ability to analyze and process a crime scene. Particular attention is paid to the securement of the scene, the thoroughness of the search, the handling and preservation of evidence, photographing and diagramming of the scene, and the development of latent finger prints. 1st place Team 1 Saint Paul Police 2nd place Team 1 Hennepin County Sheriff 3rd place Team 2 Minnetonka Police 4th place Team 1 Apple Valley Police 5th place Team 2 Coon Rapids Police Domestic Crisis Intervention: Sponsored by the Saint Louis County Sheriff's Department. Dispatched to a domestic disturbance call, explorers were scored on their ability to calm a heated family dispute and on their skill in bringing the dispute to a lawful and fitting conclusion. 1st place Team 1 New Brighton Police 2nd place Team 1 Richfield Police 3rd place Team 1 Hastings Police 4th place Team 3 Saint Paul Police 5th place Team 2 Saint Louis Park Police Emergency First Aid: Sponsored by the University of Saint Thomas, E.
