10 Drive Time Spring is official here!!! Dust off those cars and let s get out and drive before the blast furnace heat and monsoons arrive. We ve had an exciting month with the Roundup and le Tour des Garages. Look for all the pictures and see what a great club this is. Since we cannot bask in our laurels of the past, let s plan some more events. March has 5 Saturdays so March 29th is Bonus Breakfast Run time. We ll be off to Mother Hubbards for breakfast and plan to arrive there about 8:45 AM. We will begin at the SW corner of Oracle and Magee. We leave promptly at 7:30 AM. Watch for directions and a map by next week. I will have extra maps for those who can t print one. April 12th is the Second Saturday breakfast Run. The route is in the planning but breakfast will be in Green Valley at the American Family Restaurant best chorizo on the planet, so far. We will leave from the eastside and drive through Sahuarita to GV. We plan on breakfast about 9:00 on that Saturday. Also for those who want a scenic drive back we ll head up Mission Rd from the south to Tucson. April is the weekend for the B.E.A.T. (British European Auto Tour). We have had a big interest this year and therefore will head up to Phoenix mid-day on the Friday before. Many of us are staying in motels at the junction of I-17 and Northern Blvd about 1 mile south of Saturday s dawn (6:30 AM) start. If you haven t registered, do so now and get your rooms in Phoenix and Flagstaff (Little America Resort). April is Las Cruces British Car days. If you are going and would like to organize departure from Tucson, please let me know. We can discuss this at the next meeting in April. This is a premier event but you need to register quickly so that you can display at their car show. April 26 will be a Cruise and Schmooze for those not going to Las Cruces. This one will be different. The C&S will be a picnic (TBA)!! Not an ordinary picnic but a concours picnic. There will be judging of the picnic fare and prizes awarded. So, breakout the hampers and china and plan your meal accordingly. All prizes will be given and you must be present to win.duh. So, get moving and let s have some great drives. See you there. Ben
11 Banquet Mayor Walkup proclaims British Car Day The Roundup Banquet was well-attended. The highlight was Mayor Walkup, our key-note speaker. He displayed and talked of restoring his MGA, presented the Mayor s Trophy to Kevin Kittle from Albuquerque, and proclaimed British Car Day in Tucson. For fun, Rex had a Cars in the Movies contest and multiple door prizes were claimed by the diners. There was a combo who supplied some nostalgic Beetles music, allowing folks to take a swing on the dance floor. All-in-all, and enjoyable end to a very busy day! Many trophies ready to be claimed Breakfast and Awards Ceremony ENJOYING THE BREAKFAST SPREAD Some of the WINNERS
