Saturday 19 th November 2016 Symmons Plains Raceway Launceston, Tasmania 2016 Rider Information Guide This document read with the Supplementary Regulations should provide riders and teams the information they need in order to be involved in the first Rhythm X event. The Supplementary Regulations will have more racing information and details than this document. Both will be available from the Competitor page on the Rhythm X website Please become familiar with the requirements and key dates if you intend on being involved in the freight plan as it is essential that they are adhered to avoid the risk of equipment not making the freight operation to and from Tasmania. 2 WHAT IS RHYTHM X ALL ABOUT? Hopefully you have been on to the Rhythm X website and checked out what the event is about and if not we suggest you do at In a nutshell this event will bring the straight rhythm racing format to Australia for the first time with a 400m long rhythm track. We are sure most of you are familiar with the Red Bull Straight Rhythm in America however if not here is a link that shows that event Rhythm X is not only having just the rhythm format we are also including a supercross track and competition. So yes that is two tracks and two formats that make up Rhythm X, check out the event website to see the track designs. The event will be held on one day Saturday 19 th November 2016 and the aim of the event is to make it great for you guys but also put on a showcase of dirt bike action for the crowd. Therefore the SX finals will have reduced laps in order to make the schedule manageable for riders. PRIZE MONEY BREAKDOWN This is where it gets serious and rewarding for you the rider. The event is putting on the table $80,000 as the prize purse to be split over the two disciplines of Rhythm and Supercross. We are sure you will appreciate and understand how significant that is for the event to come up with for the riders and this is why we hope you really do support and help let the Australian people know that the event is on. Here is the breakdown for the two disciplines: Supercross SX1-450cc Supercross SX2-250cc TOTAL $28, TOTAL $9, $10, $ $2, $ $4, $ $1, $ $3, $ $ $ $2, $ $ $ $1, $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $80.00 Fastest Qualifier $ Fastest Qualifier $ Holeshot in Final $1, Holeshot in Final $500.00

Event Timings Thursday 17 th November Pit Area is open from 1pm 6pm should any riders or teams be down early and need to collect and work on bikes that are part of the freight plan. Note that this is not a requirement for riders to be in Tasmania on Thursday riders can collect bikes Saturday morning should they want to its just an optional bike preparation period for those needing it from the last SX round. This day is restricted to riders, their mechanic and one manager and access is limited only to the pit area. Friday 18 th November Pit Area open from 10am 6.30pm this includes an optional afternoon practice session (see more information below about this) Friday 18 th November At 6.30pm on conclusion of the practice session Rhythm X will be putting on a rider bonfire BBQ at the venue as a welcome to all competitors. Saturday 19 th November Pit Area will open at 9am for setup and sign on. First bikes will be on track just after midday. Gates will open to the public at 2.30pm. Racing will end around 9.00pm. The final Rhythm ladder competitions will be held under lights. Saturday 19 th November Those that use the freight plan will need to sign in bikes and equipment no later than 11.30pm. A Rhythm X after party location in Launceston will be notified closer to the event. Freight Timings Please see Getting down there Rhythm X Freight Support Plan detail below in this document. FRIDAY 18 TH NOV PRACTICE SESSION A practice session for riders that have entered will be held on Friday 18 th November from 3pm to 6pm and a breakdown of this will be released in the race schedule to follow this document. Competitor park up in the pit area will begin from 10.00am on Friday 18 th November for those that can get to the event for this practice session. The practice is designed to allow riders a chance to see and ride the Rhythm track given the style of racing with the straight line track is a little different. This practice session is designed for riders to be able to experience the track with no qualifying pressure on and to therefore reduce injuries on event day. PLEASE NOTE this is a closed practice to the public and therefore only riders, mechanics and accredited people will be allowed in the venue. There will be some time also allocated for a practice session on the Supercross track. All riders wanting to take part in the practice session must have signed on and be ready for a 3.00pm safety and track briefing. Please note that this practice session on the Friday is not compulsory it has been put in place to give riders more time to get used to the Rhythm track. If you can not arrive until Saturday morning to setup in the Pit area that is totally fine and rider sign on will be operational both Friday and Saturday. There will be two Qualifying Practice segments for both Rhythm and Supercross on the Saturday to give riders that can only arrive on Saturday a good chance to also get used to the tracks.

GETTING DOWN THERE RHYTHM X FREIGHT SUPPORT PLAN We understand the challenges of getting around the country and racing and Tasmania obviously has a separate set of challenges so Rhythm X is putting in place a plan to take the hassle and cost out of attending the event for We will be running a freight operation from Sydney after the last round of the supercross calendar to Launceston and then return which means competitors just need to book a flight, rental car and some accommodation (cheap camping at the event is available). Here are the details: IMPORTANT: RHYTHM X IS OFFERING THIS FREIGHT SYSTEM FOR 2016 AT NO COST FOR A LIMITED NUMBER OF BIKES. THEREFORE BIKE SPACES ON THIS TRANSPORT PLAN WILL GO TO THE FIRST COMPETITORS THAT CONFIRM, PAY THEIR ENTRY FEE AND SUBMIT THE FREIGHT FORM. ONCE THE LIMIT FOR THE NUMBER OF BIKES HAS BEEN REACHED RHYTHM X WILL LOOK AT ORGANISING PAID FREIGHT DEPENDENT ON DEMAND FOR ANOTHER SERVICE TO TASMANIA. BASICALLY GET IN FAST TO ENSURE YOUR FREE FREIGHT. THE DATE YOUR FREIGHT FORM IS RECEIVED WILL BE NOTED & MATCHED TO YOUR PAID ENTRY AND INFORMATION WILL BE SENT OUT VIA AT A LATER DATE TO ALL COMPETITORS INDIVIDUALLY ABOUT WHETHER THEY MADE THE FREE FREIGHT CUT OFF OR OPTIONS FOR BULK PAID FREIGHT SHARED AMONGST OTHER RIDERS. Freight Path SYDNEY (after last round of Aus X Open) RHYTHM X EVENT SITE MELBOURNE SYDNEY. For those competitors in QLD we will organize a Sydney to Brisbane transport for the return home leg for a small charge of $150 per bike. Sydney being the central state has been selected as the main pick up and drop off point. If you are not racing the last round of supercross in Sydney on 13 th Nov and you live in QLD you would need to get your bike down to Sydney to meet up with the freight plan. What can the competitor include with the freight plan? 1 x dirt bike (tie downs x 4 must be supplied when dropping off) 1 x Ogio bag (or similar no bigger) with tools, spare parts (this can be a sealed cardboard box as long as its sturdy. 1 x Pop Up Tent (3m x 3m) for use in the Pit Area (Rhythm X will provide either star pickets or weights for the tents but please bring your own rope or straps to secure) How do the bikes need to be prepared for freight and what do I need to provide? Bikes can remain fully setup (ie no need to take apart and put into a bike crate) and this is why space is limited for this freight plan. Fuel can stay in the bikes. You must supply the following when you first drop your bike to us for transport: o Four tie downs, name them if you can.

o A flat fold stand to be used when the bike is transferred from the truck to secure container storage at the event site. Please name your stand (piece of white gaffa tape with texter works fine). What about fuel? As noted above bikes can travel with fuel in them so you can use this to your advantage to get what you need down there. We will be having further discussions with our freight provider about the options of racing fuel traveling in the truck and this will be outlined at a later date. Key Freight Dates Monday 8 th August Supp Regs come out and this will be your first chance to enter the event and request your place in the free freight plan. When your entry fee is received and your freight form filled in your lodgment for the plan will be official. Depending on the volume of entries and requests for the freight plan you will be notified well in advance of the event the situation with your request. Sunday 13 th November from 7pm 12am a location in Sydney will be available for competitors to drop off their bikes/equipment after the Aus X Open, this will be suitable for semi trailers to drop off. If you are dropping off on the Sunday evening you will need to specify this when you fill out the freight form so we make sure someone is at the drop off location to accept your bike. Monday 14 th November 7am 12pm (midday) a location in Sydney will be available for competitors to drop off their bikes/equipment. Thursday 17 th November 1pm 6pm bikes will be available at the Rhythm X event site for riders to collect and work on them. At 6pm bikes will need to be signed back in to secure storage for the night. Friday 18 th November 10am 6pm bikes will be available at the Rhythm X event site for riders to collect and work on them. 7.00pm will be the cut off for bikes to be signed back in to secure storage for the night. Note that the practice session occurs this day see note above for more details. Saturday 19 th November 9am 11.30am bikes will be available at the Rhythm X event site for riders to collect for race day. From 10.00pm pm bikes, equipment & pop up tents will need to be signed back in to secure storage for final freight departure back to the mainland. Note the event will finish between 9.00pm pm. Tuesday 22 nd November Drop off in Melbourne. Time and location to be confirmed closer to the event. Wednesday 23 rd November Drop off in Sydney. Time and location to be confirmed closer to the event. Friday 25 th November Drop off in Brisbane for those who have booked in the extra Syd Brisbane leg for their bikes.

Storage & Insurance For Bikes & Equipment It is the responsibility of each individual competitor to ensure you have adequate insurance for your bike regarding the transport on the truck and for while the bikes are stored on site at the event. Rhythm X will be putting measures in place to make sure high security levels exist however the final insurance requirement is that of the competitor. Below are the details of the transport and storage should you need to discuss with your insurance provider: The truck transporting the bikes will be a dedicated truck solely for the Rhythm X movements IE it will not be making any stops not related to Rhythm X or transporting any other companies freight. When not traveling on the road the truck will sit in a secure freight yard in Tasmania until required on site at the event. Onsite at the event will be a fenced area with shipping containers where the bikes will be stored and locked up each night they are on site. There will be a dedicated security guard to monitor these each night they are on site. Competitors will be required each time they sign in and out their bikes to show their drivers licence or photo ID that Rhythm X will have a copy of to match up before handing over the bike. Each time the bike is signed in and out it will need to be signed for. If a mechanic will do the signing in and out we will simply add their drivers licences to that bike in our records. All items being submitted to Rhythm X will carry a freight sticker (provided by Rhythm X at the time of drop off in Syd) that will be put on each item that can be matched to the competitor. Riders can remove this on the Saturday event morning when they sign out their bike for the event and we will replace it with a new one that evening for sign in again. The competitor pit area will have roaming security and the pit setup will have crowd control barrier separating public from your tent setup however Rhythm X does not take responsibility for the loss of any equipment. We are providing the secure storage over night just for bikes, please take riding gear or anything you don t want to have the chance of disappearing back with you to your accommodation or lock it up in your rental car. Competitor parking for cars will be very close to the Pit Area.

Tasmanian Ferry Guide For competitors intending to take their own vehicles to Tasmania Each competitor will be responsible for booking and paying for their own transport to Tasmania however here are the details we have gathered to assist with that process: Riders with Vans or similar: You can book you and your van on the Spirit of Tasmania very easily via their website: Given you are a sports athlete traveling over to compete in a sports event that has prize money the government does give you a rebate on the cost to travel to Tasmania for that event. It requires some paperwork to be done after the event and this will be provided on the competitor page of our website. As an example of cost we worked all this out based on One Person taking a VW Transporter Van short wheel base: Cost from Melbourne to Devonport $185 Cost from Devonport to Melbourne $185 SUB TOTAL before rebate from government $370 Less government rebate: $264 TOTAL FREIGHT RETURN COST $106 As you can see by taking advantage of this freight government scheme it really does make getting to the event quite affordable. Teams with trucks: Rhythm X has secured a 15% discount on freight crossings to and from Tasmania for all large team trucks. For an accurate quote you will need to supply Helen (contact details below) with your truck dimensions (length, width and height) and to double check clearance levels under the truck for loading and unloading on to the boat. Lashing tie down points are also required on the trucks and we can supply a full document on where, how many and what type are suitable. The Tasmanian government does provide a rebate due to the travel being for attending a sports event. Here is a cost breakdown we worked out: Truck size used for the costing: Drop deck semi trailer with prime mover: Total Length 17m, Width 2.5m, Height 4.3m Note that when the government work out the rebate it s based on the volume size of the trailer not the prime mover. Therefore for the drop deck trailer in this example was:

Dance floor volume 3.5m long x 2.7m high x 2.5m wide + Drop deck volume 9.4m long x 3.0m high x 2.5m wide = total volume of the whole trailer 94.1 cubic metres Melbourne to Burnie Leg Toll cost $2301 Burnie to Melbourne Leg Toll cost $2301 SUB TOTAL Freight Cost before rebate $4602 Less Government Rebate worked out on 94.1 cubic $1789 TOTAL RETURN FREIGHT COST: $2813 We can pass you on all the forms that need to be filled in to claim this rebate. You can also make contact with the government department to check eligibility and predicted rebate amounts by ing tfes.support@humanservices.gov.au and explaining that you are a sports team heading to Tasmania for a racing event where prize money is paid and also provide the dimensions and cubic metres for your trailer (not prime mover) plus the cost of the freight return. Contact for booking team trucks: Helen Klewer Toll ANL Bass Strait Shipping RIDER PIT SETUP The pit area will be setup so that riders can put up their pop up tents behind a crowd control barrier so that there is better security as there will be a number of activities going on in the pit area for the crowd to check out including your bike setups. This will also give you the opportunity to brand the crowd barrier in front of your setup if you like. If you have a 3m x 3m pop up best size banner would be 3000mm x 900mm to suit the barrier. For those of you that are quick enough to jump in on the Rhythm X freight plan you will be able to include a 3m x 3m pop up tent with the equipment you provide. For all other riders traveling you will need to bring your own pop up tent to setup in the pit area as normal. We do have the option if you would like to hire a tent from our marquee supplier at these rates: 3m x 3m = $175 6m x 3m = $220 6m x 6m = $440 You may like to go in together with other riders on a larger size marquee to work together under. For those bringing pop up tents we will have some stakes or weights for you to use to try and reduce your load for travel you just need to bring straps or rope to secure your pop up to them. A bike wash bay with pressure washers will be provided. Those that do not end up using the Rhythm X freight plan can still check in their bikes overnight at the event in our secure

compound area just bring your licence/photo ID for that process. Roaming security will be on the pit area but please read the notes in the Freight Plan for more detail. HOW TO ENTER THE EVENT Please read and refer to the Supp Regs for all details on entering the event (these are out 8 th August and will be available from a link on the competitor page on the Rhythm X website or directly from the Motorcycling Tasmania website ). Rhythm X is doing all they can in this area to help the rider and as a result we have heavily reduced the entry fee for each discipline down to $95 + rider levy of $15 ($110 total) or to enter both Rhythm and Supercross $180 + rider levy of $15 ($195 total). Entries will be taken via Ridernet the online entry system from Motorcycling Australia where you simply input you licence number and fill in the details. If you have any issues with entering via this system please riders@rhythmxaction.com With each discipline having its own prize purse and paying right down to 20 for SX and 16 for Rhythm we hope you are excited to get on board for this event. GETTING YOUR SUPERCROSS ENDORSEMENT TO ENTER THE EVENT We will be holding a coaching session in the lead up to the event at the Rhythm X venue for any serious riders that need to get their supercross endorsement added to their MA licence. The updated information for when this will happen will be posted on the event website under the Competitor page so be sure to check on that regularly. It will be likely to be held late October early November. Please be aware this will not be a chance to test the track out it will be a chance for you to test your abilities on the key areas required to obtain the supercross endorsement so you can take your riding to the next level. There will be a cost for this to cover the coach and medical staff and this will be worked out based on the number of people interested. If you are interested in doing this you can register your interest in advance to riders@rhythmxaction.com and note SX Endorsement in the subject header. WHAT WILL THE RACE FORMATS BE? RHYTHM The Rhythm competition is obviously rider vs rider in a drag race down the 400m straight track. Riders will qualify to make the ladder competition that will include 16 riders for 450cc and 8 riders for 250cc. Qualifying Practice

This will involve the riders split in to smaller groups with each group getting a set amount of time to cycle the track as many times as they can/choose to. Riders will only be released from the Rhythm start when their lane is clear to the finish line. Riders can choose either lane to run down based on a first come first served basis during qualifying (ie riders to line up in the lane they want for that run). Fastest single run will count to select the ladder positions. There will be Fastest Qualifier cheque for both classes up for grabs. The ladder will be setup with fastest qualifier taking on slowest in the first round with the two fastest qualifiers being at the top and bottom of the ladder draw and the draw being filled in between in the same manner. Ladder Competition Once the ladder competition begins it will be a best of three races against your opponent. If one rider wins the first two races there will be no need for a third. There will be a set time from when the first competitor crosses the finish line until the gates drop for the next race. A countdown clock will be on display in the gate area with the time counting down and when the clock counts down to zero that will be your approximate 30 second board having been turned ready for the gate drop.

SUPERCROSS Due to having the Rhythm & Supercross happening on the same day we will reducing the lap total for the supercross finals to make the race day more manageable for riders. Qualifying Same as the rhythm there will be two Qualifying Practice sessions that will lead in to a 20 man final. There will be Fastest Qualifier cheque for both classes up for grabs. Finals The 450cc will race a 12 lap final and the 250cc will race a 10 lap final. A holeshot cheque for both classes will be up for grabs. CAMPING ON SITE AT THE VENUE TO SAVE COSTS The same weekend at Symmons Plains Raceway the Historics will be racing on the hard track next door to the Rhythm X setup so a great weekend of two wheeled action and we encourage people to support the Historics program that runs November on the days you are not involved with us. The Historics who will have a camping area setup are allowing Rhythm X competitors to also utilize this facility at Symmons Plains to help reduce accommodation costs. We ask you respect this option if using it. We will release further details and costs for this once we have them so check back on the Competitor page on the Rhythm X website or once again join our rider list ( riders@rhythmxaction.com) as we will send out an with camping details.
