3 OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER NOTES.... So far, so good: Despite falling to the Washington Wizards on Monday night, the Thunder enters this evenings contest versus the Minnesota Timberwolves just one half game behind the L.A. Clippers in the race for the NBA s best record. The Thunder is currently off to the third best start in all time franchise history. Only last year s team (27-7) and the club (29-5) posted a better record through the first 34 games of the season. Earlier this season, Minnesota defeated Oklahoma City to snap the Thunder s 12 game win streak against the Timberwolves. OKC has currently won five consecutive home meetings versus the T-Wolves. Bouncing Back: Dating back to the start of the season, Oklahoma City has demonstrated a high level of resiliency in those games played immediately after a loss. After the Thunder s bounce-back win on Jan. 4 vs. Philadelphia, OKC improved to 6-1 in those games played after a loss this season. During the season, Oklahoma City posted a 15-3 mark in games played after a loss. Only the Chicago Bulls recorded a better record in those games played after a loss (15-1). This comes on the heels of the season in which the Thunder posted a record of 20-6 in games played immediately after a loss. The Thunder s.769 winning percentage in those games was trumped once again by only the Chicago Bulls (16-4 following a loss). 12-for-12: Prior to falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Dec. 20 th, the Thunder had reeled-off 12 consecutive wins. The 12 straight wins represented the longest streak in the Oklahoma City era and the second longest streak for the franchise all-time (team won a franchise record 14 straight games from 2/3/96 3/5/96). During the Thunder s 12-0 stretch, Oklahoma City averaged points per game while outscoring the opposition by an average of 13.8 points per game. Elite Status: During the season, Kevin Durant is averaging career-highs in a number of different categories (rebounds, assists, steals and blocks). What s even more remarkable is the efficiency with which Durant is scoring the basketball this season. Durant is just two tenths of a rebound away from being on pace to become just the second player in NBA history (Larry Bird: and ) to average 28+ points, 8+ rebounds and 4+ assists while shooting better than 50.0% from the field, 90.0% from the free throw line and 40.0% from the 3-point line. If you were to ignore the efficient manner in which Durant is scoring the basketball, the hall-of-fame list to the right illustrates those players to record 28+ points, 8+ rebounds and 4+ assists for an entire season. Players to average 28+ points, 8+ rebounds and 4+ assists Oscar Robertson (5x) Kareem Adbul-Jabbar (4x) & Larry Bird (3x) & Elgin Baylor (3x) Wilt Camberlain (2x) & Jon Havlicek Bob Mcadoo Michael Jordan David Robinson Team Basketball: After the Thunder s victory this past weekend in Toronto, the Thunder improved to 14-0 this season when five or more players score 10+ points. Point Made: With the NBA season nearing in on the midway point, the Oklahoma City Thunder finds itself among the league leaders in a number of offensive categories. The chart to the right illustrates the Thunder s team rankings in a number of these key offensive categories. Last season, the Thunder (103.1 ppg) finished behind only the Denver Nuggets (104.1 ppg) and the San Antonio Spurs (103.6 ppg) in the quest to become the NBA s highest scoring team. During the season, the Thunder led the NBA in free throw shooting accuracy (80.6%) while ranking third in field goal shooting accuracy (47.1%). OKC Thunder Rankings Category NBA Rank Points per game (105.4) 2 nd Field goal percentage (.478) 3 rd Free throw percentage (.845) 1 st 3-point field goal percentage (.395) 1 st Point differential (8.7) 2 nd Getting Defensive: As one might expect, team defense is always critical to overall team success. Through the first 34 games of the season, Oklahoma City is allowing opponents to score 96.7 points on 43.0% shooting. With respect to opponent field goal percentage, OKC is holding their opponent to the second worst field goal percentage in the NBA. The Thunder set an Oklahoma City era record earlier this season after limiting the Bobcats to 69 points (including only 24 first half points) on 29.1% shooting during OKC s 45-point victory on Nov. 26. On the year, OKC is a perfect 8-0 when limiting the opposition to sub 40.0% field goal shooting. Last season, the Thunder showed material improvement in a number of defensive categories. After allowing points per game on 46.2% shooting through the first 66 games of the season (in which the team started 43-23), the Thunder responded by holding the opposition to 96.9 points on 42.7% opponent field goal percentage this past season. The Thunder wrapped up last year by going a perfect 16-0 when limiting the opponent to less than 90 points. Including the Thunder s win over the Sacramento Kings on April 13 th of last season, Oklahoma City held 19 opponents to less than 40.0% shooting, while posting a 15-4 record in those games. A select few: During the Thunder s recent outing versus the Players to average 21+ points, 8+ assists and 5+ rebounds (since 1992) Brooklyn Nets on Jan. 2, Russell Westbrook recorded his team-leading Player Season Averages 14th double-double of the season with 26 points to go along with 10 Russell Westbrook current 21.7 ppg 8.5 apg 5.1 rpg assists. So far this season, Westbrook is averaging 21.7 points (ranks LeBron James ppg 8.6 apg 7.3 rpg 6th in the NBA), 5.1 rebounds, 8.5 assists (ranks 5th in NBA), 2.15 Chris Paul ppg 11.0 apg 5.5rpg steals (ranks 4th in NBA). If Westbrook was able to maintain his 21+ Gary Payton ppg 8.9 apg 6.5 rpg point, 8+ assist and 5+ rebounding averages at season s end, he would be joining a very select class. The chart to the right illustrates those players to hit such benchmarks during the past 20 years. A November to Remember: The Thunder kicked-off the season by setting an Oklahoma City era record after compiling 13 wins in the month of November. The 13 November wins is tied for the second most in all-time franchise history (the team went 14-3 in Nov. of 1996). Through the first month of the season, Oklahoma City finished tied with San Antonio for the most wins in the NBA. Meanwhile, OKC led the NBA during the month of November with nine home victories. Kevin Durant was named the NBA s player of the month award for October/November after averaging 26.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.

4 Making them Look Free: Through the first 34 games of the season, the Thunder is once again the top free throw shooting team in the NBA. Oklahoma City leads the league in free throw shooting accuracy after converting at an 84.5% clip ( ) from the charity stripe. As a point of reference, the best all-time free throw shooting percentage for an entire season in NBA history is 83.2% (Boston Celtics; ). Moreover, through games played on Jan. 8, only the L.A. Lakers (984) have attempted more free throws then the Thunder (922). Last season, the Thunder finished the campaign as the top free throw shooting team in the NBA (OKC shot 80.6% from the free throw line). OKC finished the season leading the NBA in free throw makes per game (21.3) while ranking second in free throw attempts per game (26.4). During the season, OKC shot a league-best 82.3% from the free throw line (5 th highest percentage in NBA history). During the season Durant recorded 756 free throw makes, an all-time OKC Thunder franchise record and the 6 th most in NBA history for a single season. Durant s 756 free throws made were the most for a single-season since Michael Jordan recorded 833 free throw makes during the season. KD is the ONLY player in NBA history to convert 700+ free throws while shooting 90.0% or better. Record of Success: Since the start of the season, only the San Antonio Spurs (188) have claimed more victories than the Oklahoma City Thunder (178). Since Kendrick Perkins made his Oklahoma City debut in the middle of the season on 3/14/11 at Washington, the Thunder has posted a record (.735). Road Warriors: With the NBA season nearly half of the way complete, OKC is once again finding success out on the road. Despite the Thunder s loss to the Wizards in Washington, OKC remains 9-5 on the road this season. OKC is one of nine teams in the NBA this season to boast a winning road record. Earlier this season, the Thunder amassed a 30-point road victory on Dec. 29 at Houston (largest road win for OKC since winning by 41 at LAC on 4/15/09). Last season, the Thunder also found a high level of success playing away from Chesapeake Energy Arena. In 33 games road games last season, the Thunder registered a mark {3rd best road record in the NBA behind Chicago (24-9) and San Antonio (22-11)}. The Thunder was one of only THREE Western Conference teams (Denver & San Antonio) to boast a winning road record. Just Another Back-2-Back: With seven completed sets of back-to-backs already in the books, Oklahoma City is scheduled to play a total of 15 back-to-backs this season. To date, OKC is 5-2 on the first night to go along with a 5-2 mark on the second night of the club s back-to-back pairings. To date, OKC has registered sweeps in three of their back-to-back pairings. Last year, the Thunder competed in 18 sets of back-tobacks (in addition to the team s lone back-to-back-to-back) while recording nine sweeps of those back-to-backs in addition to the club s sweep of their only back-to-back-to-back. Oklahoma City posted a 15-4 mark on the first night and a 14-6 record on the second or third night of a back-to-back during the season. Happy New Year: For a fifth consecutive season, the Oklahoma City Thunder claimed a New Year s Eve victory on their home floor. With a perfect 5-0 mark on New Year s Eve, the Thunder have defeated the Phoenix Suns in each of the last two seasons and in the years prior, OKC notched New Year s Eve wins over Atlanta, Utah and Golden State. Dynamic Duo: With a record of 15-4 this season when Westbrook and Durant each score 20+ points, the Thunder continues its run of success with the tandem of Durant and Westbrook leading the way. For a second consecutive season, the Durant and Westbrook duo is currently the highest scoring pair of teammates in the NBA (currently averaging 49.9 points per game). The two players combined to score a total of 51.6 points per game last season to become the highest scoring duo in franchise history (surpassing their own previous record of 48.2 ppg during ). Durant and Westbrook surpassed the tandem of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade (combined 49.2 ppg) to become the highest scoring pair of teammates in the NBA during During the Thunder s outing against the Denver Nuggets on 2/19/12, the Thunder prevailed after receiving a combined 91 points from Kevin Durant (51 points) and Russell Westbrook (40 points). The 91 combined points for the two players is an all-time franchise record. After Durant and Westbrook each scored 40+ points in the Thunder s outing vs. Minnesota (3/23/12) the duo becomes the first pair of teammates in NBA history to each score 40+ points on two separate occasions during a single season. 3X Scoring Champ: With a 28.2 point per game scoring average this season (ranks third in the NBA), Kevin Durant is in search of a fourth consecutive scoring title. After averaging an even 28.0 points per game last season, Kevin Durant becomes the seventh player in NBA history to capture three consecutive scoring crowns {Michael Jordan was the last player to win three straight scoring titles ( )}. By claiming back-to-back-to-back scoring titles, Durant has joined a hall-of-fame list of NBA players to record the feat (Michael Jordan, George Gervin, Bob McAdoo, Wilt Chamberlain, Neil Johnston and George Mikan). During the season, Durant became the youngest scoring champion in NBA history (21 years and 197 days). Most Consecutive Scoring Titles Michael Jordan Wilt Chamberlain Kevin Durant Michael Jordan George Gervin Bob McAdoo Neil Johnston George Mikan Home Cooking: Prior to the Thunder s most home loss vs. Brooklyn on Jan. 2, Oklahoma City had reeled off 12 consecutive wins at the Chesapeake Energy Arena (longest streak in the NBA at that time). Last season, the Thunder registered a 14-game home winning streak which represented the longest home win streak for the OKC franchise since the season (17 game home win streak from 11/11/94 1/24/95). Prior to the Thunder s home loss versus Cleveland on 3/9/12, more than two months had elapsed between Thunder home losses (1/3/12 vs. POR). The Thunder finished behind only Miami (28-5) and San Antonio (28-5) in the race for the NBA s best home record. So far this season, OKC has gone 17-3 on their home floor (Through games played on Jan. 8, the Thunder s 17 home wins is tied for tops in the NBA). Three for All: Through the first 34 games of the season, Oklahoma City is currently the top 3-point shooting team in the NBA (39.5%; FGs). Thunder players Kevin Martin (ranks 7 th in NBA; 43.6%), Kevin Durant (ranks 17 th in NBA; 41.4%) and Thabo Sefolosha (ranks 30 th in NBA; 40.2%) rank among the top 3-point shooters in the NBA this season. During the Thunder s victory at New Orleans on 11/16, the Thunder set an Oklahoma City era record by converting 14 made 3-point field goals. On two occasions this season Kevin Martin has registered six made 3-point field goals (one shy of the OKC era record).

5 The Age Old Question: As of opening night, the Thunder clocked in as the sixth youngest team in the NBA with an average age of 25 years and 38 days. 66ers Connection: Once again this season, the Thunder s D-League affiliate, the Tulsa 66ers has been a vital part of the player development process for the Thunder franchise. So far this season, five Thunder players (most D-League assignees of any NBA team this year) have been assigned to the 66ers (Reggie Jackson, Perry Jones, Jeremy Lamb, DeAndre Liggins & Daniel Orton). Under the direction of first year headcoach Darko Rajakovic, the 66ers own an 8-7 record through the first two months of the D-League season. Since the Professional Basketball Club, LLC. purchased the Tulsa 66ers in 2008, Tulsa has seen 12 different Thunder players compete in at least one game as a member of the 66ers. Russell Rules: Russell Westbrook, now in his fifth NBA season currently maintains the longest active games played streak in the NBA (appeared in 346 straight games). In Westbrook s outing earlier this season on Dec. 7 vs. the L.A. Lakers, he recorded a career-high five made 3-point field goals and in the first half, Westbrook posted a career-best 27 first half points. During Westbrook s first three full seasons in the NBA, he became one of only five players in NBA history to record 4,000 points, 1,500 assists and 1,000 rebounds through three NBA seasons (Chris Paul, LeBron James, Anfernee Hardaway and Oscar Robertson). By averaging better than 21+ points and Players to Avg. 19+ points, 6+ assists and 4+ rebounds through first 4 years of career (last 10 years) Player (TEAM) Points Assists Rebounds Russell Westbrook (OKC) Chris Paul (NO) LeBron James (CLE) Dwyane Wade (MIA) Steve Francis (HOU) assists last season, Westbrook became just the FIFTH player in the last 15 years to average 21+ points and 8+ assists {Gary Payton (4x), Stephon Marbury (4x), Chris Paul (2x) and LeBron James). 100 points/50 percent: Prior to the Thunder s game vs. New Orleans on Dec. 12 in which OKC was limited to 92 points, the Thunder had scored 100 or more points in 12 consecutive games. The 12 game run of 100+ points was the longest such streak for the franchise since the season (scored 100+ points in 19 consecutive games). On the season, OKC has posted a 23-1 record when hitting the 100 point plateau. Another impressive streak worth noting has occurred when the Thunder shoot better than 50.0% from the field. OKC is a perfect 12-0 this year when shooting 50.0% from the floor and an impressive 38-0 when shooting 50.0% or better dating back to the season. The Thunder s 36-0 streak is currently the longest such streak in the NBA. Awfully Good in OT: Dating back to the start of the season, the Oklahoma City Thunder has been incredibly successful in overtime affairs. Including overtime victories earlier this season over the Los Angeles Clippers (11/21), the Philadelphia 76ers (11/24) and the Dallas Mavericks (12/27), Oklahoma City owns a 14-3 mark in overtime games during the past two-plus seasons. The 14 OT wins is the most in the NBA during this span. Last season, the Thunder started 3-0 in overtime games before falling to the L.A. Lakers in double overtime on 4/22/12. During the season, the Thunder became just the FIFTH team in NBA history to win eight overtime games in a single season (8-2). OKC set an all-time franchise record by winning five straight overtime games to start the season and the club s eight OT wins are the most in the NBA since 2002, when the Detroit Pistons went 8-0 in their overtime contests. During the season, OKC captured the franchises first-ever triple-overtime victory (12/1/10) against New Jersey (the OKC franchise was previously 0-4 all-time in triple overtime games). Block Party: Through the two months of the season, the Thunder is once again among the top shot blocking team in the NBA (OKC currently 2 nd in the NBA in blocks per game). Led by Serge Ibaka s 2.88 blocks per game (ranks 2 nd in the NBA), OKC is averaging 7.29 blocks per game this season. Moreover, the Thunder is perfect at 8-0 this season when blocking 10 or more shots. When the dust finally settled last season, the Thunder not only led the NBA in blocked shots (8.17 bpg), but Oklahoma City recorded the highest block per game total in the NBA in nearly 20 years. The Denver Nuggets team (8.37 bpg) was the last group to average more blocks than last year s Thunder squad. Serge Ibaka led the NBA while setting an all-time franchise record with a 3.65 block per game average (most blocks per game since Theo Ratliff recorded 3.74 bpg during the season). To put a bit more perspective on Ibaka s accomplishment; with a total of 241 blocks last season, Ibaka recorded only 19 fewer blocks than the entire New Jersey Nets team. During the Thunder s game versus the Nuggets on 2/19, Ibaka set a franchise record by blocking 11 shots en route to his first career triple-double. On the season Ibaka became the first player to register three 10-plus blocks games since Shawn Bradley during the season (five games with 10+ blocks). Standing Tall: In his first season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Hasheem Thabeet is shooting a team best 60.0% from the field (27-45 FGs). Thabeet, the tallest player in the NBA (7 3 ), recorded his first career double-double after registering a career-best 13 points to go along with 10 rebounds during the Thunder s win versus Charlotte on 11/26. So far this season, Thabeet has scored in double figures on three occasions (Thabeet had accomplished such a feat three times prior in his career before the season). 30 it is: For a third time this season, the Oklahoma City tandem of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook each proceeded to score 30-plus points in the same game on Dec. 20 at Minnesota (OKC 2-1 this season when the pair scores 30+ points). Since Durant and Westbrook began playing together during the season, the Thunder has posted a 16-6 record when the duo each scores 30 or more in the same game. In fact, the 22 games in which both players score 30 or more, is tops in the NBA during this span by more than a two-to-one margin (LeBron James & Dwyane Wade accomplished the feat 10 times). Not Your Average Win: In a game that provided a series of Thunder Firsts, Oklahoma City claimed a victory versus the Charlotte Bobcats on Nov. 26. The 45 point margin-of-victory represented the largest in the Oklahoma City era. The Thunder s halftime lead over the Charlotte Bobcats was the largest halftime lead in the NBA in more than two decades (largest halftime lead since Golden State led Sacramento after two quarters). During the game in which the Thunder lead ballooned to as many as 54 points, the Thunder set an Oklahoma City era record by limiting Charlotte to 69 points on 29.1% shooting (23-79 FGs) in the contest. Good Company: During the first three games of the season, Kevin Durant recorded 22+ points, 12+ rebounds and 5+ assists in each of his three outings. Durant joins Oscar Robertson ( ), Sidney Wicks ( ) and Kevin Garnett ( ) to become one of only four players in NBA history to open the season with those specific benchmarks through three games.

6 OKC is Fan Friendly: As was the case during all 33 home games during the season, the Thunder has registered sellouts in all 20 of their home contests this season. This occurs on the heels of the season in which the Thunder sold out 14 consecutive games to close the regular season and 35 games overall. Fans in attendance this year will once again enjoy the improvements made to the Chesapeake Energy Arena as part of a taxpayer funded initiative passed in March Thanks to the publically funded initiative, the team s arena boasts a state-of-the art scoreboard, new terrace suites, an updated main concourse with new concession stands, a new Sunset Lounge on the Club Level and a first-class courtside club. Early Season Notables: Oklahoma City set a season-high with 31 assists in back-to-back games on 11/16 at New Orleans and then again on 11/18 vs. Golden State. The 62 combined assists in consecutive outings is an Oklahoma City era record (The Thunder had never previously combined to tally more than 56 assists in a two game stretch since the season). During the Thunder s recent outing versus the Detroit Pistons (11/9), Serge Ibaka set a career-high with 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting. Ibaka logged back-to-back 20 point scoring efforts for the first time in his career. Additionally, Ibaka became the first player in franchise history to record two or more blocked shots in the first 13 games of the season. It is also worth noting Kevin Durant opened this season with three double-doubles (never before has the sixth year forward accomplished such a feat to open the season). So far this season, Durant has recorded seven double-doubles, including his first career tripledouble on 11/18 vs. Golden State. Boards are the Barometer: As one might expect, Oklahoma City has traditionally found its greatest success when outrebounding the opposition. So far this season, OKC is 18-4 when outrebounding the opposition and a perfect 6-0 when outrebounding the opponent by 10 or more. During the season, Oklahoma City went 31-5 when outrebounding the opponent (12-1 when outrebounding the opponent by 10 or more). Conversely, OKC failed to outrebounded their opponent in 14 of the team s 19 losses last season. During the Thunder s win vs. Portland on 11/2, Kevin Durant recorded 17 rebounds, one shy of his career-best mark. In fact, Durant recorded a double-double (12 points and 10 rebounds) by halftime. Only once previously in his career had Durant posted a double-double by halftime (OKC at PHI 03/09/2011).
