Will host No. 7 Lafayette on Friday, March 4 at 8 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion in Lewisburg, Pa. If American, Lehigh and Colgate all lose on Saturday, the RPI will determine the No. 3 and No. 4 seed between American and Lehigh, and Colgate will be the No. 5 seed due to an 0-2 record against No. 2 Bucknell. If American wins and Lehigh and Colgate lose, American will be the No. 3 seed, Lehigh will be the No. 4 seed and Colgate will be the No. 5 seed due to an 0-2 record against No. 2 Bucknell. Holy Cross and Lehigh will host the first two rounds of the Patriot League Tournament with Holy Cross as the one seed and Lehigh as the two seed. Current RPI rating is through games of Wednesday, February, 23, # 1 HOLY CROSS (16-10, 11-2 PL) [RPI 144] Clinched League title and number one seed. # 2 LEHIGH (17-9, 9-4) [RPI 122] Number two seed. ARMY (15-11, 8-5) [RPI 216] Currently in third place. Depending on Saturday s games, can still finish third or fourth. If Army losses to Holy Cross on Saturday and American wins over Navy the two teams will end the season tied, but Army will be the number four seed because of head to head competition. American defeated Army in both their meetings this season. AMERICAN (12-14, 7-6) [RPI 233] Currently in fourth place. Depending on Saturday s games can finish either third or fourth. If American wins over Navy and Army losses to Holy Cross on Saturday the two teams will end the season tied and the tiebreaker will go to American because of head to head competition. American will be the number three seed because it defeated Army in both their meetings this season. COLGATE (9-17, 5-8) [RPI 242] Currently tied for fifth place. Tiebreaker with Navy has not yet been determined. Depending on Saturday s games can still finish fifth, sixth or seventh. NAVY (9-17, 5-8) [RPI 296] Currently tied for fifth place. Tiebreaker with Colgate has not yet been determined. Depending on Saturday s games can still finish fifth or sixth. BUCKNELL (10-16, 4-9) [RPI 279] Currently in seventh place. Depending on Saturday s games can still finish sixth, seventh or eighth. If Bucknell losses to Colgate on Saturday and Lafayette defeats Lehigh then Bucknell will be the number eight seed, because Lafayette owns the tie-breaker. Bucknell lost to Lafayette on both of their meetings this year. If Bucknell wins over Colgate on Saturday then both teams will be tied at 5-9 and Bucknell will have won both meetings between the two and hold the tie-breaker. LAFAYETTE (5-21, 3-10) [RPI 315] Currently in eighth place. Depending on Saturday s games can still finish seventh or eighth. If Bucknell losses to Colgate on Saturday and Lafayette defeats Lehigh then Lafayette owns the tie- breaker with Bucknell. 4 Patriot League Basketball Tie-Breaking Procedure * Can also be found in Patriot League Policy and Procedures Manual Patriot League Tie-Breaking Procedure/Selection and Seeding (June 2002) a. In the case of two-way ties in the final standings for regular season League play, the following process will be used until all ties are broken and the seeding process is completed (ties will be broken in rank order beginning with the highest seed): i. Head-to-head competition the higher seed will go to the team that has won the most League contests played against the other team involved in the tie. ii. If a tie still exists, a comparison of records will be made between the tied institutions starting at the highest possible seed and continuing through the lowest seed, if necessary. iii. Sport specific tie-breaking procedure, if any (see Sport Specific regulations). iv. Comparison of records versus out-of-league common opponents. v. Coin flip. b. In the case of multiple ties, the following process will be used: i. Records between the tied teams will be evaluated to determine if one team won more contests against the other tied institutions. ii. If a tie still exists, a comparison of records will be conducted for each team starting with the highest seed not involved in the tie and continuing through the lowest seed, if necessary. iii. Sport specific tie-breaking procedure, if any (see Sport Specific regulations). iv. Comparison of records versus out-of-league common opponents. v. Coin flip (two teams) or draw (multiple teams).

5 Tie-Breaking Procedures Sport Specific for Men s Basketball i. In the event of a two-way or multiple team tie, refer to the Patriot League tiebreaking procedure listed in Section XV. (June 2002) ii. If a tie still exists, the League office will use the RPI according to the Collegiate Basketball News published on the Sunday following the final regular-season League game to determine the higher seeded team. (Notre: If a game must be postponed for any reason, the first CBN RPI calculated following the conclusion of that game will be used.) The team with the higher RPI will receive the higher seed and the opportunity to host the tournament final (should the team advance to the championship game). Tie-Breaking Procedures Sports Specific for Women s Basketball i. In the event of a two-way or multiple team tie, refer to the Patriot League tiebreaking procedure listed in Section XV. (June 2002) ii.
