Tip-off from the Cowan Spectrum (6,000) at Moscow, Idaho is slated for 8 p.m. (MT). The match-up between the Aggies and Vandals will be televised by ESPN Regional TV, airing on Altitude 2 (DirecTV Ch. 682, Dish Network Ch. 450), as well as aired on the radio and audio streamed online on the Aggie Sports Network, and also video streamed online through ESPN3.com. Now in its 108th season of basketball, Utah State has an overall record of 1,493-1,027 (.592) in its 2,520 games played. USU is 4-2 on the road this season and Utah State has won 25 of its last 40 road games (.625) dating back to the season and is (.554) in road games under head coach Stew Morrill, including a (.605) record against conference opponents and a (.614) mark against WAC teams. Utah State has won 42 of its last 53 WAC games (.792) and is (.791) against teams from the WAC during the last six seasons. Overall, USU has an (.746) regular-season WAC record in its eight years in the league. Utah State is 3-4 this season and (.752) during the month of January under veteran head coach Stew Morrill, which includes a (.607) road record. USU is 2-3 this season on Thursday s and (.802) in games play on Thursday under Morrill. The Aggies are also 8-7 (.533) all-time in known games played on Jan. 31. Utah State and Idaho will be playing for the 51st time this weekend in what is the 16th-oldest rivalry in school history. The Aggies hold a all-time advantage, which includes a 15-8 record in known games at Moscow, with the Vandals winning the last two meetings on their home court. USU is (.857) versus teams from the state of Idaho under Morrill, which includes an 18-4 record against Boise State, a 26-5 record against Idaho and an 11-0 record versus Idaho State. Idaho head coach Don Verlin spent 10 years as an assistant at Utah State and 15 years as an assistant for USU head coach Stew Morrill at both USU and Colorado State. Idaho and Utah State are 1-2, respectively, in field goal percentage in the WAC, as the Vandals lead with 48.0 percent while the Aggies are second at 46.9 percent. In conference games, UI is also first (.495) while USU is fifth (.434).

BEING SOCIAL Utah State men s basketball news, game updates and information is available on UTAH STATE IN PURSUIT OF FIFTH WAC TITLE IN EIGHT YEARS Utah State is seeking its fifth Western Athletic Conference regular season championship in the last six years as part of USU s eight years in the league. The Aggies shared the 2008 title with Boise State, Nevada and New Mexico State as all four teams had 12-4 league records, before winning the 2009 and 2010 WAC titles with identical 14-2 conference records, and the 2011 WAC Championship after going Prior to USU s current run, Nevada won five straight regular season WAC titles from EIGHTH AND FINAL YEAR IN WAC Utah State is playing in its eighth and final season in the Western Athletic Conference, before joining the Mountain West Conference in USU currently has an (.746) overall regular-season WAC record in its eight years in the league, including having won 42 of its last 53 WAC games (.792) and is (.791) against teams from the WAC during the last six seasons. LOOKING AT UTAH STATE The Aggies are 14-5 overall and ended the first half of their WAC schedule with a 5-4 mark, following a hard-fought home loss to Louisiana Tech on Saturday. USU junior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield and junior center Jarred Shaw combined for 37 points and 29 rebounds, but the Aggies were unable to send the game into overtime as a three-pointer from sophomore forward Ben Clifford hit the front of the rim at the buzzer. Shaw recorded his seventh double-double of the season for Utah State and scored in double-figures for the 14th time with a career-high 21 points and 14 rebounds. Shaw also added a career-high four blocked shots as he was 9-of-16 from the field and 3-for-4 at the free throw line. Butterfield posted his second double-double in as many games as he scored 16 points to go along with a career-best 15 rebounds, giving him nine double-figure scoring games this year. Clifford finished with six points and eight rebounds. Louisiana Tech s 16 points in the second half was Utah State s defense first time holding an opponent under 20 points this season and the fewest points in a half since holding Idaho to 16 first-half points on March 17, USU snared a season-high 50 rebounds in the contest, while posting its second-best rebounding advantage of the season with a +19 Saturday. USU also limited LA Tech to 33.3 percent field goal shooting, which is a new season-low by a USU opponent.

3 MEDLIN, REED SUFFER INJURIES Utah State men s basketball head coach Stew Morrill announced an update on a pair of players who suffered injuries in the Aggies game at New Mexico State on Thursday, Jan. 17. Junior guard Preston Medlin will be out 6-8 weeks with a fractured wrist, while senior forward Kyisean Reed is out with a season-ending torn ACL in his knee. Medlin s injury happened in the first half, but he played the rest of the game, while Reed s injury happened late in the second half against NMSU and he did not return to action. Medlin is averaging 16.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game. He is shooting 47.4 percent (82-of-173) from the field, including 39.3 percent (33-of-84) from three-point range and 81.8 percent (63-of-77) at the free throw line. Medlin is still fifth in the WAC overall in scoring (16.3 ppg). He also is third in the conference overall for free throw percentage (.818). In three-point field goal percentage, Medlin is seventh (.393), as well as fifth in overall three-pointers made per game (2.06). Medlin also leads the conference in minutes played (36.06). Reed is averaging 12.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.6 steals per game, leading USU in blocked shots (28 total) and steals (26 total). He is netting a team-high 58.2 percent (71-of-122) field goal shooting, as well as 66.2 percent (51-of-77) at the free throw line. Reed is 12th in the WAC in scoring overall (12.1 ppg), while ranking 10th in overall rebounding (6.5 rpg). He also ranks third in field goal percentage (.582). Reed is sixth in the WAC in blocked shots (1.75), as well as seventh in steals (1.63). THREE RETURNING STARTERS, OUT WITH THREE DIFFERENT MEDICAL SITUATIONS USU entered this season with three returning starters and all three are now not in action due to medical situations. Junior forward Danny Berger collapsed in practice on Dec. 4 from full cardiac arrest, but was released from Intermountain Medical Center in Murray on morning of Dec. 8 and was on the bench with his teammates that night. Berger will miss the remainder of the season. Junior guard Preston Medlin will be out 6-8 weeks with a fractured wrist, while senior forward Kyisean Reed is out with a season-ending torn ACL in his knee. UTAH STATE INDIVIDUALS Junior center Jarred Shaw is averaging nearly a double-double with 12.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, adding 1.2 blocks per game as well. Shaw logged his seventh double-double of the season with a career-high 21 points to go with 14 rebounds along with a career-high four blocks in Saturday s loss to LA Tech. He has at least seven rebounds in 13 games this season, including seven double-digit rebounding outings, which have all led to his double-doubles. Shaw also is shooting a near-even 50.5 percent (96-of-190) from the field in addition to 72.7 percent (48-of-66) at the free throw line. After having at least one blocked shot in USU s first 14 games of the season, Shaw did not register a blocked shot in the next four games before bouncing back with a career-high four blocks against LA Tech. Junior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield adds 10.4 ppg, having posted his first two career doubledoubles in the last two games, posting a career-high 23 points and adding a then-career-best 11 rebounds in Thursday s game against UT Arlington, then adding 16 points and a new career-high 15 rebounds in Saturday s loss to LA Tech. Butterfield now has nine double-digit scoring outings in the last 12 games, and has also pulled down four or more rebounds in each of the last five games. Butterfield has filled in splendidly at starter for forward Danny Berger, as Butterfield has scored 162 points in 13 games as a starter, averaging 12.5 ppg as a starter after averaging 5.0 ppg in the first five games of the season off the bench. Butterfield is second on the team with 29 made three-pointers (29-of-67), and leads the team in three-point percentage, making 43.3 percent behind the arc. Freshman guard Marcel Davis averages 6.1 ppg on the season, and also leads the team with 3.2 assists per game. Davis has now tallied four helpers in each of the last three games for his ninth game with four or more dimes in the last 11 games. He now has 47 assists in the last 11 games (4.3 apg) and has 51 assists in 13 games as a starter (3.9) after totaling 10 assists in the first five games of the season off the bench (2.0 apg). Junior guard/forward Marvin Jean has stepped up in place of Preston Medlin in the starting line-up, averaging 8.3 ppg on 25 points in the last three games as starter after averaging 3.5 ppg off the bench, tallying a season-high 14 at Denver and adding 11 vs. UTA. Jean is shooting one tenth of a percent better behind the arc (43.2 percent) than he his overall field goal percentage (43.1 percent), making 19-of-44 from distance and 28-of-65 in total field goals. Freshman guard Marcel Davis is third in the league for overall assists-turnover ratio (1.85), while ranking fifth in league games in assist/to ratio (1.86). Junior guard/forward Marvin Jean is third in overall three-point field goal percentage (.432), while ranking 12th in WAC only games (.400). Sophomore forward Ben Clifford is tied for 13th in WAC games for blocks (0.67). SMOOTH AS BUTTER AS A STARTER Junior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield has filled in splendidly at starter for forward Danny Berger, as Butterfield has scored 162 points in 13 games as a starter, averaging 12.5 ppg as a starter after averaging 5.0 ppg in the first five games of the season off the bench. Butterfield is second on the team with 29 made three-pointers (29-of-67), and leads the team in threepoint percentage, making 43.3 percent behind the arc. Butterfield has scored in double-digits in nine of his last 13 games played, boosted by his career-high 23 points and added a thencareer-best 11 rebounds for his first-ever double-double against UT Arlington, then logging his second double-double in as many games with 16 points to go along with a career-best 15 rebounds against LA Tech, giving him nine double-figure scoring games this year. The sharpshooting junior has made a three-pointer in 13 of his last 14 games and has eight multi three-pointer games, including a season-high four treys each against UTA and UC Davis, adding three at Texas State. Butterfield also dished out a career-high nine assists at Texas State, USU s highest by an individual this season. JEAN MACHINE In starting for injured starting guard Preston Medlin, junior guard/forward Marvin Jean has stepped up in a major way, netting a USU career-high 14 points at Denver and then 11 points vs. UT Arlington. Jean had netted his previous high of eight points four different times. Jean also hit a season-high four three-pointers at Denver, adding three against UTA, topping his previous high of two also reached four times. Jean was held scoreless against LA Tech, but did snare four rebounds, marking the third-straight game with four boards. Jean is second on the team and third in the WAC in three-point field goal percentage (.432), netting a combined 7-of-13 (.538) in the Denver and UTA games. He also swatted a career-high three blocks in the UTA game after totalling just two in the previous 18 games. CLIFFORD THE BIG BLUE AGGIE Sophomore forward Ben Clifford had a career night against UT Arlington, tying a career-best in points (12), rebounds (9) and blocks (4). All of which are also season-highs for Clifford and he also tallied a then-season-high 33 minutes of action against UTA, bettering his previous seasonbests of 11 points, five rebounds and one block. Clifford then added eight rebounds, six points, two assists and one block while playing a new season-high 34 minutes in the LA Tech loss. Idaho is currently on a win-loss-win pattern over its last three games following a four-game losing streak that began with the OT loss at USU. The Vandals last five losses have all been by less than seven points or less. Last weekend, Idaho lost to Texas State, 78-73, on Thursday but bounced back with a win over UTSA on Saturday. Senior center Kyle Barone led Idaho by posting double-doubles in both games with 27 points and 16 rebounds in the loss to Texas State before tallying 25 points and 16 rebounds in the win over UTSA. Junior guard Stephen Madison added 14 points against Texas State and 13 against UTSA. 6 LAST MEETING AGAINST IDAHO Junior guard Preston Medlin scored a game-high 22 points, including the game-tying threepointer at the end of regulation, and he then scored nine points in overtime to rally Utah State past Idaho, 82-75, in a Western Athletic Conference match-up in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum Saturday night. In all, the contest featured 18 ties and 10 lead changes. For Medlin, it is the second time this year he has sent a contest into overtime as he hit the game-tying three-pointer at Santa Clara with 0:2.4. USU went on to win that game, Trailing, 69-61, with 3:38 to play, Utah State finished regulation on an 8-0 run as sophomore center Jordan Stone made a layup at the 3:12 mark and junior center Jarred Shaw added another layup at the 2:39 mark. Senior forward Kyisean Reed then went 1-of-2 from the free throw line with 1:52 to play and Medlin sent the game into overtime with a three-pointer from the left corner with 0:02 remaining. During the final 3:12 of the game, UI was 0-of-3 from the field with two turnovers, and allowed an offensive rebound by Stone that he converted into two points. Idaho scored the first bucket of overtime and led with 3:38 to play before Medlin struck again with nine-straight points on a layup and a three-pointer in back-to-back possessions, followed by four free throws to give the home team an advantage with 0:42 left and USU went on to post the win despite missing 6-of-12 free throws in the extra period. In all, USU out-scored UI, 13-6, in overtime. With the win, Utah State improves to 13-1 on the season and remains in first-place in the WAC with a 4-0 league mark. USU also outrebounded UI by 10 (46-36), including a advantage on the offensive glass that led to a scoring margin for the Aggies in second-chance points. The Vandals did post six more assists in the game (20-14), but also had five more turnovers (11-6), as those six giveaways by Utah State are tied for its fewest this year. Utah State scored the first two points of the game on a pair of free throws from Davis, before Idaho scored the next six points to take its largest lead of the half. USU tied the score at 8-all on a Medlin basket only to see UI push its lead back to four at Utah State then scored six-straight points to take a lead at the 8:37 mark. The Vandals regained the lead and held a three-point advantage three different times in the final 4:20 of the first half, including at 30-27, before Utah State got a free throw from Medlin and a layup from Butterfield to tie the score at 30 at intermission. Idaho sophomore guard Connor Hill leads the WAC in three-point field goal percentage at 44.7 percent, while USU junior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield is second at 43.3 percent and junior guard/forward Marvin Jean is third with 43.2 percent. USU is tops in the WAC in three-point field goal percentage at 37.7 percent, while Idaho is third at 35.9 percent. In WAC only games, Idaho is second (.370) while Utah State is third (.368). EFFICIENT NETTING Idaho and Utah State are 1-2, respectively, in field goal percentage in the WAC, as the Vandals lead with 48.0 percent while the Aggies are second at 46.9 percent. In conference games, UI is also first (.495) while USU is fifth (.434). DAVIS DISHING DIMES With four assists against Louisiana Tech, freshman guard Marcel Davis has distributed at least four assists in each of the last three games as well as eight of the last nine outings and nine of the last 11 games. Included in that stretch are two games of his season-high seven assists, doing so against Nicholls State and Seattle while dishing out six at Texas State, but then limited to just two at NMSU, before bouncing back with four in the Denver, UTA and LA Tech games. Davis now has 47 assists in the last 11 games, averaging 4.3 helpers per game during that stretch, as part of his 3.2 apg on the season. DOUBLE-THREAT SHAW Junior center Jarred Shaw logged his seventh double-double of the season with a career-high 21 points to go with 14 rebounds in the loss to LA Tech, adding a career-high four blocks as well. Shaw leads the team with seven double-doubles this season and all seven have come when he s posted double-digit rebounds. He just missed his another double-double on the season with 10 points and nine rebounds at Denver, marking the second time he was one board shy of a double-double, with an 11-point, nine-rebound outing at UTSA and also had two 15-point, eight-rebound games in a row (at Santa Clara, vs. Western Oregon), as well as an eight-point, nine-rebound game in the seasonopener vs. Idaho State. DOUBLING UP ON THE DOUBLE-DOUBLES Junior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield and junior center Jarred Shaw both registered double-doubles against LA Tech, with Butterfield tallying 16 points and a career-high 15 rebounds while Shaw logged a career-high 21 points to go with 14 rebounds. A LOOK BACK AT THE LOUISIANA TECH Utah State junior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield and junior center Jarred Shaw combined for 37 points and 29 rebounds, but the Aggies were unable to send the game into overtime as a threepointer from sophomore forward Ben Clifford hit the front of the rim at the buzzer in a home loss to league-leading Louisiana Tech Saturday night inside a spirited Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Utah State falls to 14-5 overall and 5-4 in Western Athletic Conference play with the loss, while Louisiana Tech improves to 18-3 on the season and 9-0 in league with the win. Overall, LA Tech has now won nine-straight games. Shaw recorded his seventh double-double of the season for Utah State and scored in double-figures for the 14th time with a career-high 21 points and 14 rebounds. Shaw also added a career-high four blocked shots as he was 9-of-16 from the field and 3-for-4 at the free throw line. Butterfield posted his second double-double in as many games as he scored 16 points to go along with a career-best 15 rebounds, giving him nine double-figure scoring games this year. Clifford finished with six points and eight rebounds. USU also got three points from junior guard TeNale Roland and two points from sophomore center Jordan Stone. Brandon Gibson scored 20 points to lead Louisiana Tech, while Raheem Appleby added 10 points off the bench as the Bulldog reserves had a 34-5 advantage in bench points. Utah State trailed with 6:42 to play in the game before Shaw and Butterfield each scored four points to tie the game at 48-all with 1:42 remaining. On Louisiana Tech s next possession, Appleby hit a three-pointer from the right corner to give the visitors a lead. Butterfield had his three-pointer blocked on USU s next possession, but the Aggies were able to hold LA Tech without scoring, giving Clifford his three-point attempt at the buzzer. In the final 20 minutes, Utah State held Louisiana Tech to just 18.5 percent shooting from the field (5-27) and just 16.7 percent shooting from three-point range (2-12) as the Aggies outscored the Bulldogs by 10 points (26-16) after intermission. USU also held LA Tech without a field goal for 6:33 late in the game before Appleby s deciding three-pointer. Utah State finished the game shooting a season-low 27.3 percent from the field (15-55), including just 21.4 percent from three-point range (3-14), but did convert on 88.2 percent of its free throws (15-17). USU eventually got back within four points including at with 5:53 remaining in the half only to see LA Tech go on a 10-0 run to take its largest lead of the night at and went into the locker room with a advantage. Utah State began the second-half on an 8-0 run to get within 35-30, before Louisiana Tech scored its first points of the half on a Kenneth Smith layup at the 13:42 mark. LA Tech followed with a Gibson three to push its lead back to 10, only to see USU score the next six points to close within at the 10:46 mark. The Aggies later trailed by four at with 8:21 to play following two Clifford free throws, but the Bulldogs pushed their lead back to eight at with 6:42 remaining setting up USU s final run. BACK TO BLOCKING After posting at least one rejection in its first 15 games, including seven games with five or more rejections, Utah State did not have a single blocked shot in either game of its recent road trips, going blockless at both New Mexico State and Denver. However, the Aggies got back on the blocking track with seven rejections Thursday against UT Arlington, tying their second-highest blocking total, then adding six swats against Louisiana Tech, including getting a career-high four rejections from junior center Jarred Shaw. LA Tech s 33.3 percent field goal shooting is a season-low by a USU opponent, as the Aggie defense bettered its previous mark of 34.0 percent against Weber State (11/24/12) LA Tech s 4-of-7 free throw shooting ties USU opponent season-lows for both free throws made and free throws attempted, and is the third time this season that the Aggies opposition has four made free throws. Sophomore center Jordan Stone swiped his first steal of the season, tying his career-high for the third time after snaring a steal in two games last season, and his last two steals have come in home games against LA Tech, also swiping a steal against the Bulldogs on March 8, Freshman guard Marcel Davis also tied his season-high with two steals for the fifth time this season, last swiping two against Seattle (1/3/13). Sophomore forward Ben Clifford played a season-high 34 minutes and his eight rebounds marks his 17th game with five or more boards. Clifford now has 17 rebounds (8.5 rpg) in the last two games as his eight boards Saturday came on the heels of his season-high and career-best tying nine rebounds in Thursday s game against UT Arlington. Clifford has scored 26 points in the last three games (8.7 ppg) as a starter after averaging 2.1 ppg in the previous 16 games as a reserve. It was his first made three-pointer of his college basketball career and second attempted trey, with one threepoint attempt during his freshman season at Oklahoma State. 350 USU WINS FOR COACH MORRILL Utah State s win over Western Oregon was USU head coach Stew Morrill s 350th victory at the helm of the Aggie program and Morrill is now (.743) at USU. UTAH STATE FROM THREE-POINT RANGE Utah State has made at least one three-point basket in 219 straight games and the last time USU did not make a three-pointer in a game was on Dec. 16, 2006 in Provo as BYU defeated the Aggies, USU entered that game having made at least one three-pointer in 127 games dating back to Dec. 14, 2002 when BYU held USU without a three-pointer in a win in Provo. MEDLIN SHINES IN BEARD OUT Junior guard Preston Medlin scored a season-high 25 points, including 16 in the second half, in the win over SJSU, which was declared a Beard Out by the USU students, with fans wearing beards to match Medlin s beard. Medlin s streak of 20-point games was halted at two in a row with only 14 at New Mexico State, but Medlin has hit for 20 or more points in five of the last eight games, and 19 times in his career. Against SJSU, he was 6-of-12 from the field, 2-of-6 from three-point range and a perfect 11-for-11 at the free throw line, tying the single-game school record for free throw percentage. After not scoring more than 18 points in USU s first eight games of the season, Medlin has now scored 20 or more points in five of the Aggies last eight games. Medlin tied a single-game school record in free throw-percentage as he went from the charity stripe. It is the 30th time that an Aggie player has been perfect at the line with 10 or more attempts, and the first since Tai Wesley vs. Hawai i on Dec. 29, Medlin s 11-of-11 effort is the ninth time that an Aggie player went 11-of-11, also first since Wesley. It was also a season-best in free throws made for Medlin and the third-most attempts and makes of his career, going 13-of-14 twice last season (vs. Hawai i and vs. Loyola Marymount). It was also the second time in the last three games and eight games this season that he made all of his free throws and 19th time in his career. Utah State s 30 wins during the season are tied with the team for most in school history and its 30-4 record is the best-ever at USU. The four WAC titles also ties a school record for most conference championships won as USU won four Rocky Mountain Conference Championships from Utah State finished the season ranked No. 25 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, marking the first time since 1978 that USU has been nationally ranked at the end of the season. It is also just the eighth time in school history that USU has finished the season nationally ranked. USU was ranked for nine straight weeks to end the year, which is its longest streak since the team was ranked for 11 straight weeks. Overall, it was the third time in the previous eight years that USU has been nationally ranked. The Aggies won 23-plus games from , which is a school record, bettering the old mark of three straight 20-win seasons from Over the past 13 seasons, Utah State has gone overall and in conference play. Those 330 wins are the sixth-most in the country over that time period, while its 75.7 percent winning percentage is the fourth-best in the country. Over the past 13 years, Utah State has had five All-American selections, 20 first-team all-conference selections, 30 all-conference selections (first and second team) and 42 conference player of the week honorees, not to mention Stew Morrill being named the league s Coach of the Year on five separate occasions (2000, 2002, 2009, 2010, 2011). The team set a then school record with 28 wins and went a perfect 19-0 in the Big West Conference, marking only the third time in league history a team has gone undefeated. The team tied the school record for wins at the time (28) and recorded Utah State s first NCAA Tournament win in 31 years with a overtime victory against Ohio State. MEDLIN LIVING UP TO PRESEASON WAC PLAYER OF YEAR BILLING Junior guard Preston Medlin was named the WAC s Preseason Player of the Year and has lived up to the billing so far in conference play, after posting 18 points, five assists and three steals in the win over Seattle, and adding a game-high 22 points to go with seven rebounds and two steals against Idaho. Medlin then scored a seasonhigh 25 points, including 16 in the second half, in win over SJSU. For Medlin, it is the fifth time in his last seven games and 19th time in his career he has scored 20-plus points as he was 6-of-12 from the field, 2-of-6 from three-point range and a perfect 11-for-11 at the free throw line, tying the single-game school record for free throw percentage. Medlin also added five assists in the game. In USU s six WAC games so far, Medlin is averaging a WAC-best 20.7 ppg, ranking second in league only games with 2.83 three-pointers made per game in conference action, hitting 17-of-43 (39.5 percent) from distance, ranking 12th in conference only games for three-point percentage. Medlin also is second in league action with 81.6 percent (31-of-38) at the free throw line, boosted by a perfect 11-of-11 at the charity stripe vs. SJSU, but then didn t attempt a free throw at NMSU. He also leads the conference in WAC only games in minutes played (37.67). Preston Medlin Earns Trio Of Player Of The Week Awards Utah State men s basketball player Preston Medlin was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week, College Sports Madness WAC Player of the Week and America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete Of The Week for his performance during the period of Dec. 30-Jan. 6 in leading USU to three wins. Medlin, a junior guard from Carrollton, Texas (Hebron HS), helped Utah State post a 3-0 WAC record last week with a road win at Texas State (81-57), and home wins against Seattle (75-66) and Idaho (82-75 OT). Against the Bobcats, Medlin scored 21 points to go along with six rebounds and one assist. Against the Redhawks, he had 18 points to go along with five assists and a season-high tying three steals. And against the Vandals, he scored 22 points and hit the tying three-pointer with 0.4 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime, where he scored nine of USU s 13 points. Medlin, who scored all but three of his points following intermission, added seven rebounds, two steals and one assist against Idaho. For the week, Medlin averaged 20.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game, while shooting 41.5 percent from the field (17-of-41), 41.7 percent from three-point range (10-of-24) and 73.9 percent at the free throw line (17-of-23). Medlin s threepointer against Idaho marked the second time this year he has sent a contest into overtime as he hit the game-tying three-pointer at Santa Clara with 0:2.4. USU went on to win that game, This is Medlin s first WAC Player of the Week honor this season and second of his career, also collecting the accolade on Jan. 30, Medlin has earned the USU Student-Athlete of the Week honor for the third time this season, also earning the honor on Nov. 12 and Dec. 3. It is Medlin s seventh career USU honor, earning the award four times last season. MVP, THREE PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARDS FOR REED Senior forward Kyisean Reed scored a season-high for the second time in three games with 21 points to earn Most Valuable Player honors of the 2012 Utah State hosted World Vision Challenge, sponsored by Gossner Foods. For the tournament, Reed averaged 16.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.3 steals in 31.3 minutes per outing, while shooting 57.1 percent from the field (16-28) and 78.3 percent at the free throw line (18-23). He topped his season-high twice, posting 20 points to go with a career-high 12 rebounds in the Nicholls State game only to net 21 points in the Southern Illinois contest. This is the fourth year in a row that Utah State has been picked first by at least one of the voting groups, being tabbed first by the media last year, along with being selected first by both groups in and The Aggies were selected as the preseason favorites by the media, receiving 232 points and 15 first-place votes. New Mexico State was picked second with 223 points and eight first-place votes. Morrill became the winningest coach in school history on Jan. 17, 2008 in the Aggies win against Boise State, passing E. Lowell Romney ( ) who won 225 games in 22 seasons.
