Contact: Doug Hoffman (435) Thur., Jan at Seattle, 8 p.m. Sat., Jan at Idaho, 8 p.m. Utah State men s basketball (10-8, 2-2) will play a pair of road games this week with a non-conference game at Seattle (3-12) on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. (MT), before returning to Western Athletic Conference play at Idaho (9-9, 2-2) on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. (MT). USU is all-time against the Redhawks including a 5-8 road record, and all-time against the Vandals including a 15-7 road record. L, at New Mexico State W, at Louisiana Tech Utah State posted a 1-1 road record last week as it lost at New Mexico State (80-60) and defeated Louisiana Tech (69-65). Against NMSU, junior forward Kyisean Reed scored 18 points and senior point guard Brockeith Pane added 16 points. USU finished the game shooting 40.0 percent (20-50), including 18.8 percent from three-point range (3-16) and 63.0 percent at the free throw line (17-27). NMSU shot 49.2 percent (30-61), including 25.0 percent from three (3-12) and 58.6 percent at the line (17-29). Against the Bulldogs, Pane scored a career-high 24 points, while Reed and sophomore guard Preston Medlin each added 11 points. Medlin also had a careerhigh nine rebounds and Reed grabbed eight. USU shot 49.1 percent (26-53), including 22.2 percent from behind the arc (2-9) and 65.2 percent at the charity stripe (15-23). LTU finished the game shooting 38.7 percent (24-62), including 41.4 percent from three-point range (12-29) and 50.0 percent at the free throw line (5-10). WoMEN S TENNIS... Contact: Megan Allen (307) Fri., Jan at Boise State, 5 p.m. Sat., Jan vs. Denver, Boise, ID, 10 a.m. Utah State s women s tennis team (0-0) will begin its 2012 season on Friday, Jan. 20 with a match at Boise State at 5 p.m., followed by a match against Denver in Boise on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. USU competed in three open tournaments during the fall season and was led by freshman McKenzie Davis who had a 5-3 record in singles play. Other Aggies to compete during the fall season include seniors Monica Abella, Romina Nedakovic and Brianna Rowland, juniors Kristina Voytsekhovich, Jaci West and Mersadi Wilkins, and freshman Kimberly Watts. WOMEN S BASKETBALL... Contact: Kara Fisher (435) Thur., Jan FRESNO STATE, 7 p.m. Sat., Jan NEVADA, 7 p.m. Utah State women s basketball (11-5, 2-0) continues Western Athletic Conference play this week with a pair of home games against Fresno State (13-4, 1-0) on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m., and against Nevada (4-12, 0-1) on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. USU is 2-12 all-time against the Bulldogs and 7-8 all-time against the Wolf Pack. W, at New Mexico State W, at Louisiana Tech Utah State began WAC play last week with a pair of road wins at New Mexico State (74-56) and Louisiana Tech (79-62). Against NMSU, senior guard Brooke Jackson scored 18 points, senior forward Ashlee Brown had 15 points, senior forward Maddy Plunkett scored 13 points and junior guard Devyn Christensen added 12 points. USU finished the game shooting 54.5 percent from the field (30-55), 46.2 percent from three-point range (6-13) and 72.7 percent at the free throw line (8-11). NMSU shot 44.0 percent overall (22-50), including 18.2 percent from three (2-11) and 66.7 percent from the line (10-15). Against the Lady Techsters, Christensen scored 20 points, while Brown and Jackson each scored 17 points. USU shot 56.9 percent (29-51), including 61.5 percent from behind the arc (8-13) and 76.5 percent at the charity stripe (13-17). LTU shot just 34.3 percent overall (23-67), including 17.6 percent from three-point range (3-17) and 59.1 percent at the free throw line (13-22). MEN S TENNIS... Contact: Megan Allen (307) Tues., Jan at Idaho State, 1:30 p.m. Fri., Jan vs. Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, Las Cruces, N.M., 2 p.m. Sat., Jan at New Mexico State, 2 p.m. Utah State s men s tennis team (0-0) will begin its 2012 season with three matches this week as it plays at Idaho State on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 1:30 p.m., followed by matches against Texas A&M - Corpus Christi and New Mexico State on Friday and Saturday, Jan , respectively, in Las Cruces, N.M. USU played in three open tournaments during the fall season and was led by junior Sven Poslusny who had a 4-3 singles record. Other Aggies who competed in the fall included senior Nate Ballam, junior Lenny Whiting, sophomores Jordan Barlow, Brandon Nielsen, Fredrick Peterson and Andrew Whiting, and freshmen Marcus Fritz, Matt Sweet and Curran Wearmouth.

Contact: Travis Hansen (435) Fri.-Sat., Jan at New Mexico Invitational, Utah State s indoor track and field teams will continue its 2012 season on Friday and Saturday, Jan when it travels to Albuquerque, N.M. to compete in the Cherry and Silver Invitational. --- at Idaho State Open Utah State indoor track & field had a solid weekend at the Idaho State Snake River Open on Saturday collecting eight wins, including seven field events, on the way to 21 top three finishes. Sophomore Chari Hawkins won the Aggies lone running event by taking the title in the 60m hurdles, breaking the tape in 8.40, and also won the long jump with a leap of (5.67m). Junior Bri Campbell won the high jump with a height of (1.65m). Sophomore Keeley Eldredge took top honors in the weight throw with a distance of (16.29m). Senior Sonia Grabowska won the pole vault with a (3.80m) mark, while fellow senior Spela Hus won the shot put with a (13.97m). On the men s side, sophomore Bryce Hall won the weight throw with a distance of (17.84m), while senior Joe Canavan won the shot put with a mark of (16.49m). Other women s top marks were freshman Melanie Heslop ( /12.25m) and Eldredge ( /12.04m) finishing second and third, respectively, behind Hus in the shot put. Sophomore Sam Nielson finished in second-place in the triple jump with a mark of (11.90m). Sophomore Daphne Jones was third in the long jump with a distance of (5.38m). Senior Jennifer Schiess cleared (1.62m) in the high jump for a third-place finish, matching junior Amber Thompson s place in the pole vault with a height of (3.65m). Freshman Nic Bowens was second in the 60m dash with a 6.91 time, just ahead of sophomore teammate Silas Pimentel, who was third with a Sophomore A.J. Boully was second in the 200m with a time of Senior Damian Szade was second in the long jump with a mark of (6.69m), one spot ahead of freshman teammate Travis Johnson, who had a distance of (6.60m). Canavan was also fourth in the weight throw with a toss of (16.16m). Johnson led a Aggie finish in the triple jump, with a (13.99m) mark, while sophomore Reagan Ward was third with a (13.84m) mark and junior Kenny Hamlett was fourth with a jump of (13.72m). GYMNASTICS... Contact: Zach Fisher (435) Sat., Jan at Texas Woman s/oklahoma, 6 p.m. Utah State s gymnastics team continues its 2012 season on Saturday, Jan. 21 with a tri-meet at Texas Woman s with Oklahoma. L at #5 Utah Utah State gymnastics scored a in its 2012 season-opener Friday at Utah while the fifth-ranked Utes notched a The Aggies recorded a on bars, a on vault, on floor and a on beam for their final score of The Utes posted a on vault, on bars, on beam and on floor for their winning total. Freshman Sarah Landes notched a in the all-around to finish third in her collegiate debut. Junior teammate Amelia Montoya posted a to place fifth in the all-around.
