Purdue got off to a great start using an early 10-0 run to take a lead less than 11 minutes into the contest. Rapheal Davis scored 19 first-half points, including shooting a perfect 5-of-5 from 3-point range and the Boilermakers led at the break. Purdue scored the first basket of the second half to go up 18. A 14-2 Spartan run quickly pulled MSU within single digits. The Spartans kept chipping away and took their first lead of the game at MSU led by four points with less than two minutes left, but Purdue scored four straight points to send the game into overtime. In the extra stanza, MSU trailed by four with 1:12 left. Denzel Valentine then found Kenny Goins for a layup, and after a defensive stand Valentine tied the game with a driving layup. On Purdue s final possession, Valentine was whistled for a controversial foul and Davis hit one-of-two free throws to win the game. Valentine nearly posted a triple-double, finishing with 27 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists. Davis led Purdue with 24 points, while A.J.
