Never can that be more evident than in the play of junior guard Chris Wright, junior forward Julian Vaughn, or in the case of the Georgetown bench... When the Hoyas beat Louisville on Feb. 23, a lot of people spoke about the points scored by Austin Freeman or the number of rebounds Greg Monroe grabbed. Wright scored only four points and had four assists, but he also played 38 minutes and consistently broke down the Louisville press, allowing the Hoyas to set up their offense... It was the sixth time this season that Wright had played at least 38 minutes (Georgetown is 5-1 when he does)... Vaughn s contributions, meanwhile, can get a bit lost in the shuffle... He may not score a ton of points, but he has done a lot of the grunt work in the post for Georgetown, which has allowed for more space for scoring and rebounding for Monroe, who ranks among the top-20 in the BIG EAST in both of those categories... The bench, a point of discussion throughout the season, has provided steady contributions as the season has gone on, sometimes obvious, sometimes subtle... Freshman guard Hollis Thompson is averaging 6.4 points in the last five games... Forward Jerrelle Benimon has made his mark by providing solid minutes... Since coming back from an early-season ankle injury, he has played double figure minutes in 11 of the last 13 games... In that span, he has scored in nine games and has nine games with at least two rebounds... Another freshman, guard Vee Sanford, has also made his mark... When he came in against Butler earlier in the year, it was a surprise to many, but in just one minute he came up with a big steal and hit two free throws during a key first half stretch of a big early-season win... Against Louisville on Feb. 24, he played only four minutes, but was fouled taking a 3 and hit two shots, two points of 10 by the Hoya bench during the first half...just a little something that helped keep Georgetown in the game when Freeman and Monroe stole the headlines in the second half.
