2019 Lunch with the Legends Dear Friend of FCA, On behalf of The Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Central Ohio, I want to thank you for your interest in the 4th Annual Lunch with the Legends.

We come along side the students/athletes and coaches helping them deal with life issues from a Biblical perspective, enabling them to become better leaders in their communities.

1 2019 Lunch with the Legends Dear Friend of FCA, On behalf of The Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Central Ohio, I want to thank you for your interest in the 4th Annual Lunch with the Legends. The purpose of the Lunch with the Legends is to raise funds to accelerate serving the youth and coaches of Central Ohio. We come along side the students/athletes and coaches helping them deal with life issues from a Biblical perspective, enabling them to become better leaders in their communities. The Quantum Leap vision for Central Ohio FCA is to impact 20,000 students and 1,000 coaches weekly across 400 High and Middle school campuses and to serve 2,000 summer campers. We are excited to be honoring Coach Chris Holtmann, head basketball coach at The Ohio State University, as the 2019 Legend. About the Event: This is a unique event in a casual atmosphere where you can socialize with some of the past Legends, enjoy stories and a short program with an inspiring keynote speaker.

2 About the Event: This is a unique event in a casual atmosphere where you can socialize with some of the past Legends, enjoy stories and a short program with an inspiring keynote speaker. Why we do what we do... The youth of today are dealing with peer pressure, bullying, drugs and alcohol, loneliness, etc. Coaches are dealing with intense pressure for wins along with the stress coaching puts on their families. FCA is devoted to helping the youth and coaches deal with these challenges as they are confronted with difficult decisions and choices. The monies raised will help fund the four areas of ministry that FCA focuses on to build up the youth and coaches in Central Ohio, Campus, Coaches, Camps, Community. Chris Holtmann, 2019 Ohio Sports Legend Honoree Chris Holtmann is in his second season at the helm of the Basketball Buckeyes. He is the 14th head coach in Ohio State history. Holtmann, 46, grew up in Nicholasville, Kentucky. He played basketball at Taylor University, and it was there he earned All-America honors as the team s captain in 1994 and was inducted into the Taylor Hall of Fame in Holtmann started coaching as a graduate assistant at Taylor in He coached at Geneva College, Garner-Webb and Butler before he came to OSU. Along the way he earned a master s degree in athletic administration from Ball State in Holtmann was named head coach at OSU on June 9, 2017, replacing Thad Matta. He s married to wife Lori and the two have a daughter. For a Division 1 Head Basketball Coach with many demands on his time, Coach Holtmann made time to engage with FCA while at Gardner Webb and Butler Universities. Coach is a very humble leader of young men and driven to do what's best for his team. Coach would attend the weekly FCA Coaches Bible study when his schedule permitted. In addition he would speak at the FCA huddle on campus and to local FCA teams and huddles. He introduced FCA staff to his teams and encouraged them to interact and use FCA staff as a resource during their time as a player in the program. Allowing FCA to be a part of team's leadership development program helped Coach meet his concern for the whole person; Basketball, Life and Faith journey. Coach always had time to close the door and have a private conversation which ninety percent of the time would lead away from basketball to how he was leading his team at home, his wife and daughter in their life and faith journey and his point leader role in their life. 3 Additional Past Legends and Special Guests who normally attend the Luncheon: JD Bergman: Ohio State alumni and part of the Team USA wrestling team, he is an accomplished athlete and a strong supporter of outreach in the community. Bergman was a four time NCAA qualifier and three time NCAA player, including finishing second in the 2008 NCAA D1 Wrestling Championships. Bergman has been on seven USA World teams (top 3 finish in the World/Olympic trials), in Greco-Roman. Bergman is also a two-time Cerro Pelado champion (2010 and 2015), and a 2014 Brazil Cup Champion. JD Bergman is a founding partner of inteam; a youth & millennial focused platform providing short daily inspirational videos from Christian athletes and coaches. Dr. Ben Buchanan: Graduated from Ohio State with a career ranking fourth all-time in school history in punts (177) and yards (7,286), and his 41.2 career average ranks eighth in school history. Buchanan received his third degree from Ohio State; a degree in sports management and is now a Doctor of Philosophy. He is currently a broadcaster for BTN/ABC/FOX Broadcasting. He was also the 2013 FCA Central Ohio Athlete of the Year. Sue Ramsey: In the spring of 2015, Sue Ramsey retired from an illustrious 35 year coaching career. For the past 20 years she has served Ashland University as their Head Women s Basketball Coach. Coach Ramsey s final record as a head coach is (.579). The and seasons were particularly memorable as the Eagles won the Division II national title (2013) and finished as the Division II national runner-up (2012). S he was h o n ored a s F CA s Ohio S p or ts Lege nd. Tom Ryan: Tom is a celebrated Coach in the wrestling world. Some of his highlighted accomplishments include a National Championship Team and Big Ten Championship Team in He has coached six different athletes to ten national championships, along with coaching 16 NCAA finalists. Throughout his years as head coach at OSU, he has been named Coach of the year three times. In addition to his outstanding coaching record and high athletic standard for his athletes, he holds a high standard for his athletes academically as well. Of the many athletes, six Buckeyes have been recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association with NWCA All-Academic Team accolades. And Since Coach Ryan s arrival at OSU, there have been 48 and 96 Academic All-Big Ten and Ohio State Scholar-Athlete selections. Coach Ryan has shown such character on and off the mat, with support from his wife Lynette, and four children, Jordan, Jake, Teague and Mackenzie. William White: He received his Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from The Ohio State University. He was starting cornerback from and team captain in White was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1988 and played professionally for 11 years. He ended his career with the Atlanta Falcons after Super Bowl XXXIII, where he led the team with 13 tackles. Since 2001, White has served as a director at Trazer Technologies, Inc., a world leader in the use of computer-based simulation for the improvement of health, physical performance and fitness of everyone. William is the Director of Community and Corporate Engagement at The Ohio State University College of Engineering. William has partnered with Ohio State to create a fund to support ALS Research and works with the Detroit Lions on ALS fundraising events. He was honored as FCA s 2011 Ohio Sports Legend.
