Saturday, February 16, :00 p.m. Game #30 - Milwaukee, Wis. - Panella Court Live Video/Audio: WSN ( Live Stats: About The Matchup Wolves... Stritch is coming off a win at Ashford University. In that game, the Wolves got out to a 13-0 run. Defense played exceptionally well; allowing a mere two Ashford shot attempts and forcing seven turnovers in the opening seven minutes of action. Ashford finally got on the scoreboard via two made free throws with 13:35 remaining in the first half. Stritch showed their weakness in the second half when AU applied full court pressure. The full court press resulted in 16 Wolves turnovers in the second half. Michelle Piepenburg (Chilton, Wis.) led all players with 18 points. Liz Neitzel (Lomira, Wis.) finished with 17 points off 3-6 (50%) shooting from beyond the arc. Tough defense by Stritch allowed AU to shoot just 3-19 (15.79%) from the field in the opening half of play. Today s game against Calumet College of St. Joseph will serve as Parents Day for the Wolves women s basketball program. Heading into today s matchup the Wolves have been dominate at home on Panella Court carrying a 12-1 record. Next up for the Wolves will be the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament. The CCAC Tournament will take place February Final seedings are not yet finalized but the Wolves are currently tied for third place with Saint Xavier and Olivet Nazarene with a 16-5 conference record. The Wolves have had the distinct honor of remaining ranked in the top 25 every week of the regular season. Crimson Wave Calumet College St. Joseph enters the game with Stritch with a 9-19 overall mark. The Crimson Wave have a 6-15 mark in CCAC play.

2 Crimson Wave cont d... The Crimson Wave average 56.7 ppg while giving up 65.2 ppg. Karina Robinson is the team s top scoring threat averaging 14.7 ppg. Dominique Edwards is second on the team in scoring at 12.0 ppg. The Crimson Wave are currently on a four game losing streak. The team s last win came against Holy Cross College on January 30. The last time the Crimson Wave hit the floor they were defeated by TCC, This will mark the team s last regular season game before the start of the CCAC Tournament. Calumet College is under the direction of sixth year head coach Cristina Schmidt. Pfaffl is a recognizable face to loyal followers of Stritch women s basketball, for 21 years he served behind the scenes as the top assistant in the Wolves program under Panella.

During the 2011-12 basketball season the second season for Pfaffl as head coach the Wolves finished 27-7 (11-1 CCAC). Stritch experienced their greatest success during a 15 game winning streak.

5 John Pfaffl Head Coach 3rd Season University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (1998) 25th Season at Stritch Head Coaching Record John Pfaffl begins his third year as head coach of the Cardinal Stritch University women s basketball program. He took over for long time head coach Rich Panella to begin the 2010 season. Pfaffl is a recognizable face to loyal followers of Stritch women s basketball, for 21 years he served behind the scenes as the top assistant in the Wolves program under Panella. Under Pfaffl s tutelage as head coach, the women s program has flourished defensively. The Wolves women s basketball team ranks first in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) with points per game (ppg) allowed during the past two seasons. Pfaffl has experienced a great deal of success while playing at the Cardinal Stritch Fieldhouse. During his first two seasons as head coach, Pfaffl carries a home record of 28-3 (Entering 2012 season). During the basketball season the second season for Pfaffl as head coach the Wolves finished 27-7 (11-1 CCAC). Stritch experienced their greatest success during a 15 game winning streak. This span began with a win over Iowa Wesleyan College on 12/20/11 and lasted through 2/11/12. The Wolves finished the season as regular season CCAC Champions and CCAC Tournament Champions by defeating Purdue University Calumet (Ind.). Pfaffl s squad made it to the second round of the NAIA Women s Basketball Division II National Tournament but was defeated by Concordia University (Neb.) to bring the season to an end. In his first season as head coach, Pfaffl led the Wolves to a 24-8 record and an 11-1 CCAC record. The Wolves would be named CCAC regular season and CCAC Tournament Championships. He also took Stritch to the NAIA Division II Women s Basketball National Tournament. With all the success, Pfaffl was named CCAC Coach of the Year. Pfaffl s coaching roots began at the youth level before moving up to the high school ranks in 1989 when he began coaching football at Milwaukee Pius XI High and girls basketball at St. Mary s Academy and eventually became an assistant coach for Panella at Stritch. In 1994 Pfaffl was hired full time as the Sports Information Director, assistant men s and women s basketball coach, and head men s and women s cross country coach. He also worked as an adjunct instructor, teaching physical education courses at Stritch.

6 After 15 years serving in those roles, Pfaffl stepped down to become the Director of Recreation, Intramurals, and Facilities at Stritch. However Pfaffl remained as assistant coach for the women s basketball team. In the unique position serving as an assistant coach for both the men s and women s basketball teams under two hall of fame coaches at Stritch an unusual position to hold at the college level Pfaffl enjoyed being involved in two very successful programs. During his reign with the women s team, the women posted a.809 overall winning percentage (.884 in conference play), won 16 regular season titles and advanced to the NAIA Division II National Tourney 14 times. The men s team claimed a.688 overall winning percentage (.706 in conference play), won six regular season titles and advanced to the NAIA Division II National Tourney six times. A Milwaukee, Wis. native, Pfaffl has been heavily involved in athletics as an athlete as well. Having competed in football, basketball, and track and field at Milwaukee Pius XI High School, he was also a member of the Lawrence University football program before transferring to UW-Milwaukee after medically retiring from playing football to complete his schooling. Besides his coaching duties at Stritch, Pfaffl maintains a regular basketball schedule by holding summer basketball camps and directing the Rising Force Basketball Academy, which offers basketball developmental opportunities for boys and girls grades 5-12 in the Southeastern Wisconsin region. He can also be seen working various summer camps throughout the area. Pfaffl currently holds a bachelors of science in Health Science from the University of Wisconsin. Pfaffl and his wife, Janice, as well as their two daughters, Sofia (12) and Karli (8), reside in Fox Point, Wis.
