2 IV Braves Lil Dribblers K-4 th Grade This year our Lil Dribblers program is going to focus solely on the FUNdamentals of the Basketball!!! We are going to take all boys Kintergarden-4 th grade who would like to play and teach them a ball-handling routine which we will perform at halftime of JV/Varsity Basketball games this year! We will also give each Lil Dribbler a DVD so that they can practice the routine at home as well. We will use our practice time to learn our routine and practice performing it, but we will also use it to play different types of basketball games so that we ensure the kids are having a blast. One of the main goals of this program is to see the kids fall in love with the game by having fun!!! Each Lil-Dribbler will receive a shirt to wear to performances and a basketball. The practices will be on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. It is vital that your Lil Dribbler is at these practices so we can ensure that he is prepared for the performances. We also ask that you have your Lil Dribbler practice with the DVD at least twice a week in addition to our practices. We are very excited about our Lil Dribblers program and look forward to working with the boys teaching them the great game of basketball! We would also like your help to ensure that our kids have FUN! Please encourage your son to play as much as possible, when it s a nice day kick him out of the house and encourage him to shoot hoops, work on his ballhandling, or play pickup games with friends! The more they play, the better they become, the better they become, the more they enjoy it, the more they enjoy it, the more they PLAY, so why not play!!! We also ask that you support all the boys who play by constantly encouraging them. They will make tons of mistakes throughout the season and we want them to learn how to respond to those mistakes. It truly saddens us to see a youngster s drop his head and stop when a mistake is made. We would rather they simply do the NEXT RIGHT THING!

5 IV Braves Biddy Ballers 5 th & 6 th Grades We have organized a Valley Biddy League for our 5 th and 6 th graders this year. We will play games on Saturday s with Garaway, Harrison Central, Newcomerstown, and Tusc Central Catholic. Each school will host a week for our boys to play at their facilities. We are using this league to teach our boys the fundamentals of the game! Our focus will be on ball handling, pivoting, passing, defense, making layups, and playing hard! Please do not get overcome with trying to win! If we focus on the little parts of the game, the winning will take care of itself! Biddy ball will only be on Wednesdays and Saturdays until travel season at which time players willing to commit to practice 2-3 days per week will play in 3-5 weekend tournaments in Feb/March. The first 5 practices will be conducted by Coach Herman and/or the IV Basketball Staff to ensure the practices are focusing on fundamentals! We are in need of 4-8 parent Coaches who can Coach the teams up throughout the regular season and into the first Travel tournament at River View in early February. At that point our MS Coaches McPeek and Carroll will take over the travel teams. We would like these Parent-Coaches to be present at all the practices to be part of the focus on Fundamentals and see how that focus will translate into the games on Saturdays. We are very excited about our Biddy Braves program and look forward to working with the boys teaching them the great game of basketball! We would also like your help to ensure that our kids have FUN! Please encourage your son to play as much as possible, when it s a nice day kick him out of the house and encourage him to shoot hoops or play pickup games with friends!
