CAJUNS HAVE SUCCESSFUL WEEK IN CUBA For the second time in school history, Louisiana participated in a foreign trip with the team visiting Cuba this past August (Aug. 6-, 207). The Ragin Cajuns, the only men s college basketball team to visit the island nation this year, played three games against the Cuban National Team while spending time in Havana and Varadero. Louisiana, which benefitted from 0 extra practice sessions prior to the trip, took its first foreign excursion in 20 when it traveled for a week-long tour of Spain. CAJUNS FINISH THIRD OVERALL AT CAYMAN ISLANDS CLASSIC Louisiana earned a third-place finish at the inaugural Cayman Islands Classic on Nov in George Town, Cayman Islands after earning wins over Big 0 member Iowa and Atlantic 0 member Richmond. The Ragin Cajuns opened the eight-team tournament with an 80-7 win over Iowa before dropping a 70-6 contest to Wyoming in the semifinals. Louisiana closed out the tournament, that was won by No. 2-ranked Cincinnati, with an win over Richmond in the third-place game on Nov. 22. Frank Bartley, who averaged 9.7 points in the Cajuns three games, was named to the All- Tournament team. STOVE HONORS HIS GRANDFATHER From his days at Christian Life Academy to the first three years of his Louisiana Ragin Cajuns basketball career, Johnathan Stove wore No this season, the senior switches to No. 0 in honor of his grandfather, Opston Guillory, who passed away on April 0, 207. HIGH-OCTANE CAJUNS Louisiana basketball has a history of high scoring, averaging at least 80 points per game 0 times from 97 to 992. Since then the Cajuns had scored better than 75 points per game just seven times entering the 20-4 campaign. 4 SHARING IS CARING During the season, Louisiana has shown the ability to share the basketball as the team s 8. assists per game average is 4th in the nation. At its current pace over a -game span, Louisiana would post the second-most amount of assists (570) since records were first kept in the season. The Ragin Cajuns have surpassed the 290-mark in steals four times in school history with a single-season record 27 established in TEAMS PLAY FAST UNDER MARLIN During Bob Marlin s 25-year tenure as a head coach, that includes three trips to the NCAA Tournament, his teams have employed an fast-paced style of basketball that has averaged 78.5 points per game during that span. His teams have averaged over 70 points per game 2 of the 24 years.
