The game between the Crusaders and the Black Knights can be seen live in Central Massachusetts on Charter TV3, and on the internet through Crusader Vision and the Patriot League Network. In addition, the contest will air live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester. Holy Cross enters the game with an overall record of 7-10 and a 2-4 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders have lost three straight and four of their last five games, and are coming off an setback against Lehigh on Saturday. Holy Cross is currently in a tie for eighth place in the Patriot League with Lafayette. Junior guard Robert Champion leads the team by averaging 12.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Freshman forward Karl Charles has also been playing well, with averages of 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest. Junior forward Malachi Alexander has added 10.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, while senior guard Cullen Hamilton is chipping in with 9.2 points and 2.5 boards per contest. Army West Point stands 12-6 overall this season with a 3-3 mark against Patriot League opponents. The Black Knights have won two of their last three games, and are coming off a victory over American on Sunday. Senior forward Tanner Plomb leads the team by averaging 21.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while hitting 40.5 percent of his three-point field goal attempts (53 of 131). Senior guard Kyle Wilson has added 17.4 points and 2.6 boards per contest, while senior center Kevin Ferguson is averaging 11.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Members of the media should submit player interview requests to Charles Bare of Holy Cross by the five-minute mark of the second half. For games at the Hart Center, a postgame press conference will be held in the Bud Ryan Room on the second floor following the game. THE SERIES WITH ARMY: This will be the 81st meeting between the Crusaders and the Black Knights on the hardwood, with Holy Cross leading the all-time series The Crusaders have won 23 out of the last 29 meetings in the series, although the schools have split the last eight games. For games played in Worcester, Holy Cross holds a 33-6 advantage, but the Black Knights have won four of their last eight visits to the Hart Center. The schools first met on Feb. 22, 1926, with Army posting a victory at West Point. In 17 games played, Husek has averaged 8.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots per contest, while hitting 51.4 percent of his field goal attempts (55 of 107) and 48.5 percent of his three-pointers (16 of 33). During the Lehigh game, he led the team with a career-high 23 points on eight of 11 shooting from the field. Previously against Maine, Husek posted his second double-double of the year with 19 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. He also played well at Hartford, totaling 11 points and eight rebounds. A few of Husek s other top performances this season came against Quinnipiac (15 points, five rebounds, two assists, two blocks) and Marist (12 points, 12 rebounds). Last season, Husek averaged 3.0 points and 0.9 rebounds in 22 games played. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has now totaled 206 points, 99 rebounds and 36 blocked shots. ALEXANDER PLAYING PROMINENT ROLE: Junior forward Malachi Alexander is one of the top players for the Crusaders down low this year. Through 17 games played, Alexander has averaged 10.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest, while making 50.0 percent of his field goal attempts (59 of 118) and 38.6 percent (17 of 44) of his three-pointers. During the Lehigh game, he totaled 10 points, four assists and three rebounds. Previously at Navy, Alexander recorded 10 points and four rebounds. He also played well against Boston University, leading the team with 17 points on seven of eight shooting. Some of Alexander s other top performances this season have come against Albany (18 points, six rebounds, four assists), Harvard (17 points, five rebounds), New Hampshire (13 points, six rebounds, seven assists), Hartford (11 points, nine rebounds, six assists, three steals), Sacred Heart (11 points, five rebounds, three assists), Kansas (11 points, two rebounds, two steals), Marist (10 points, three assists and two rebounds), Maine (six points, 10 rebounds, three assists) and Brown (five points, 10 rebounds). In 30 games played last year, Alexander averaged 8.4 points and 5.0 rebounds, while hitting 73.5 percent of his free throws (72 of 98). As a freshman in , he averaged 6.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Over the course of his collegiate career, Alexander has now totaled 640 points, 383 rebounds and 116 assists. TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE: This year marks the 97th season of Holy Cross men s basketball. The Crusaders own an overall record of (.592), while making 25 postseason tournament appearances 12 trips to the NCAA Tournament, 12 to the National Invitation Tournament and one to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. In the history of collegiate basketball, Holy Cross is one of only 16 schools to have won the NCAA Tournament ( ) as well as the National Invitational Tournament ( ). Throughout its history, Holy Cross has had six first team All-America selections, sent 10 players to the National Basketball Association, had four players and coaches inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, had 23 players drafted by professional teams, had three players go on to coach professionally, and had 15 players who have coached in college. LEHIGH RECAP Matt Husek scored a career-high 23 points, but Holy Cross was defeated by Lehigh at the Hart Center on Jan. 16, Husek hit eight of 11 field goal attempts, four of six three-pointers and three of four free throws on the day. Malachi Alexander added 10 points, four assists and three rebounds for the Crusaders. The Mountain Hawks were led by Austin Price with 22 points and six rebounds. Lehigh started the game hot, jumping out to an early 10-2 lead after the first four minutes of play. The Mountain Hawks added a 7-1 run a few minutes later, and went on to take a advantage with 5:45 left before the break. Holy Cross closed out the half on a 10-2 run, but still trailed by nine points (40-31) heading into the locker room. The Crusaders trimmed the margin down to eight (44-36) early in the second half, before Lehigh used a 16-3 run to take a commanding lead. Holy Cross would get no closer than 18 points the rest of the way, as the Mountain Hawks eventually posted a 21-point victory. The Crusaders made just 38.2 percent of their field goal attempts (21 of 55) in the game, while Lehigh was able to connect on 55.9 percent of its shots from the floor (33 of 59). 3 HOLY CROSS MEN S BASKETBALL CHAMPION PLAYS KEY ROLE ON PERIMETER: Junior guard Robert Champion is once again a key player in the Holy Cross backcourt this year. In 17 games played, he has averaged 12.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest, while hitting 75.0 percent (42 of 56) of his free throws. Champion has played particularly well over the last seven games, averaging 14.9 points while hitting 43.5 percent of his field goal attempts (40 of 92). During the Lafayette game, he led the team with a career-high 24 points and six rebounds. Previously at Navy, Champion totaled 10 points and seven rebounds, while hitting five of eight three-point field goals. He also played well against Boston University, recording 11 points, five assists, three steals and two rebounds. Some of Champion s other top games this season have been against Hartford (22 points, four rebounds, three steals), Maine (20 points, career-best seven assists), New Hampshire (19 points, four assists, three steals), Marist (16 points, career-high eight rebounds), Rhode Island (13 points, four rebounds), Brown (12 points, seven rebounds, four steals), Albany (11 points, six rebounds) and Harvard (11 points, four rebounds). In 29 games played a year ago, he averaged 4.8 points and 1.8 rebounds, while hitting 46.8 percent of his field goal attempts (51 of 109) and 37.9 percent of his three-pointers (22 of 58). Over the course of his Holy Cross career, Champion has now totaled 413 points, 154 rebounds and 43 steals. CHARLES STEPS INTO STARTING LINEUP: Freshman forward Karl Charles has made an immediate impact for the Crusaders this season. In 17 games played, Charles has averaged 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest, while hitting 80.3 percent of his free throws (61 of 76). He has stepped up his play even more since the start of Patriot League action, averaging 12.5 points and 5.3 rebounds against conference foes, and hitting 48.8 percent of his field goal attempts (20 of 41). In the Bucknell game, Charles posted 12 points and three rebounds. Previously against Colgate, he led the team with career highs of 21 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots. Charles also played well at Navy, recording 16 points, five rebounds and three steals. A few of his other top games have come against Sacred Heart (15 points, seven rebounds), Boston University (15 points, six rebounds, five assists), Hartford (13 points, three assists, two steals), Maine (13 points), Kansas (12 points, four steals, three rebounds, two assists), Brown (12 points, two rebounds) and Quinnipiac (10 points, three rebounds, two assists). Charles came to Holy Cross from Rutgers Preparatory School in Somerset, N.J., where he averaged 15.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game as a senior. Holy Cross made 46.4 percent of its shots from the floor (26 of 56), 66.7 percent from behind the three-point arc (six of nine) and 75.0 percent of its foul shots (15 of 20) in the game. The Crusaders also held a rebounding advantage, while limiting Army to 40.3 percent shooting from the field (25 of 62). The game was close throughout a first half which included four ties and eight lead changes. The Black Knights were up with 12:26 left in the half, when Holy Cross used an 11-2 run to pull in front by seven (23-16). Army came back with a 9-0 run a few minutes later to regain the lead, but the Crusaders would pull back ahead by two (31-29) at the break. Holy Cross increased its advantage to seven (41-34) with 15:22 remaining in regulation, before the Black Knights regained the lead by scoring eight straight points. The Crusaders had pulled back in front by one (46-45) a few minutes later, when they used a 10-2 spurt to take a lead. Army refused to go away quietly, and was able to close the margin down to two points (61-59) with 3:01 left to play. But a dunk by Christopher Morgan and a three-pointer by Malachi Alexander put Holy Cross back up by seven, then Burrell hit seven of eight free throws in the final minute to clinch the victory. Malcolm Miller finished the night with 10 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two blocks, while Eric Green added 10 points and six boards. The Black Knights were led by Tanner Plomb with 19 points and five rebounds. PROTECTING THE BALL: The Crusaders have committed only 207 turnovers in 17 games played, for a Patriot League-low average of 12.2 turnovers per contest. Holy Cross has had single-digit turnovers six times this year, including a season-low six against both Lehigh and Quinnipiac. Last year, Holy Cross averaged 10.9 turnovers per contest, with 328 total turnovers in 30 games. That mark was the lowest in the Patriot League, and also set a new school single-season record. The Crusaders posted their 300th win in the building against Sacred Heart on Nov. 14, Holy Cross had a 23-game winning streak at the Hart Center from Feb. 15, 2006-Jan. 2, 2008, which was the longest streak in the history of the building and the sixth-longest home court winning streak in the nation at the time. In the Crusaders posted a perfect 14-0 mark at the Hart Center, setting a school record for the most home victories since they moved into the building. During the Hart Center s history, Holy Cross has posted a winning record at home in 34 out of 40 seasons, while recording double-figure home victories 18 times. The Crusaders stand at home since the beginning of the season, including a record against Patriot League foes. CARMODY IN FIRST SEASON WITH THE CRUSADERS: Bill Carmody is in his first season as the head men s basketball coach at Holy Cross in , with an overall record of The 17th head coach in the history of the program, Carmody came to the Crusaders with 32 years of Division I coaching experience, including 17 seasons as a head coach. From , Carmody served as the head coach at Northwestern University. In the four years from , he guided the Wildcats to four consecutive winning seasons, with his and teams both recording a school record 20 victories. Carmody, who previously spent four seasons as the head coach at Princeton University from , had led his teams to eight postseason tournament appearances two trips to the NCAA Tournament and six trips to the National Invitation Tournament. He was selected as the Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year in , and owns a career record of CRUSADERS KNOCK DOWN FREE THROWS: Holy Cross is once again a solid free throw shooting team in Through 17 games played, the Crusaders have made 71.1 percent of their foul shots (243 of 342). Senior guard Cullen Hamilton leads the team by making 82.4 percent of his attempts at this charity stripe this season (28 of 34). Freshman forward Karl Charles is 61 of 76 at the foul line (80.3 percent), and junior guard Robert Champion has made 42 of 56 free throws (75.0 percent). As a team, the Crusaders have hit over 70 percent of their free throws in each of the last four seasons. Holy Cross made 71.5 percent of its foul shots in (406 of 568), 73.2 percent in (518 of 708), 75.3 percent in (351 of 466) and 72.1 percent in (374 of 519). HAMILTON STILL A TOP SCORING THREAT: Senior guard Cullen Hamilton is once again a key player for the Crusaders on the wing this season. In 17 games played this year, Hamilton has averaged 9.2 points and 2.5 rebounds per contest, while hitting 82.4 percent (28 of 34) of his free throws. In the Lafayette game, he recorded 10 points and five rebounds. Previously against Colgate, Hamilton tallied a season-high 20 points, four rebounds and four assists, while hitting seven of nine field goal attempts. He also played well against Boston University, totaling 11 points, three rebounds and two assists. A few of Hamilton s other top games this season have been against Brown (18 points), Maine (13 points, four assists, career-best three steals), Hartford (12 points, three assists, two rebounds), Albany (11 points, three rebounds, two steals), Marist (11 points, two rebounds) and Sacred Heart (10 points). In 30 games played last season, he averaged 6.6 points and 2.4 rebounds. During the campaign, Hamilton averaged 8.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest, but missed 15 games due to injury. A Patriot League All-Rookie selection in , he has now totaled 698 points, 237 rebounds and 99 assists over the course of his collegiate career, while making 77.6 percent of his free throws (104 of 134). THOMPSON RETURNS TO BACKCOURT: Junior guard Anthony Thompson is once again a key part of the Holy Cross backcourt this year. In 17 games played, Thompson has averaged 7.0 points, 3.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per contest, while hitting 74.5 percent of his free throws (35 of 47). During the Bucknell game, he led the team with 16 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Earlier in the season against Albany, Thompson totaled a career-high 23 points, four rebounds and three assists, while hitting six of 10 attempts from three-point range. He also played well against Harvard, scoring scored 13 points while hitting all seven of his free throws. A few of Thompson s other top games this season have come against Sacred Heart (10 points, three assists, two rebounds, two steals) and New Hampshire (11 points, five assists, four steals). In 20 games played last season, he averaged 5.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals. In , Thompson was named to the Patriot League All-Rookie team after averaging 9.4 points, 2.5 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, he has now totaled 538 points, 171 assists, 155 rebounds and 73 steals, while making 73.6 percent of his free throws (176 of 239) NATIONAL INVITATION TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS

In 17 games played, Zignorski has averaged 5.2 points per game while hitting 41.5 percent (17 of 41) of his three-point field goals. During the Rhode Island game, he scored 10 points and grabbed two rebounds. Previously against Sacred Heart, Zignorski totaled 13 points and two rebounds. He also played well at Quinnipiac, finishing with 10 points and two assists. Zignorski came to Holy Cross from Pope John XXIII Regional High School in Sparta, N.J., where he led the team to an overall record of 29-4 and the New Jersey Non-Public A state championship as a senior. HOLY CROSS TIES THREE-POINT SHOOTING MARK: In the Nov. 19 game against New Hampshire, the Crusaders tied the school single-game records for both three-point field goals made (15) and three-point field goals attempted (35), in addition to tying the Hart Center record with 15 three-pointers made.
