2 ROSTER Purdue Roster Notes Purdue boasts five seniors on its roster, the most for the program since the team had six seniors -- Matt Painter s first year. Purdue will have 10 players from its homestate of Indiana this year. It marks the seventh straight year that the roster has featured at least nine Indiana natives and the ninth straight year that over half the roster hails from Indiana. Purdue s average height is 6-5 7/8, while its average weight is pounds. Purdue s average shoe size this year is 14.66, led by Isaac Haas size-22 feet. Big Duo Among Top 50 The Big Lead, a subsiduary of USA Today, came out in August with its top 50 players of the season and Purdue was well represented. Freshman Caleb Swanigan was ranked No. 37 on the list, while senior center A.J. Hammons was named 23rd. Swanigan was seventh among Big Ten players, while Hammons was third behind Maryland s Melo Trimble (No. 8) and Michigan s Caris LeVert (No. 16). Purdue is one of just 11 teams to have at least two players mentioned. The other teams are Villanova, Maryland, Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Wichita State, LSU, Gonzaga and California. In The Polls Purdue is well-represented in the preseason basketball polls, sitting in the top 25 of most of the prognostications. Doing so would make him and A.J. Hammons the first Purdue teammates since 2011 with 1,000 career points. Boilers Hot at Home Purdue will enter the season having won six straight games at Mackey Arena, which includes three games against ranked opponents. Purdue won the six straight games by a combined 46 points (7.7 PPG). With nine non-conference home games on the slate, an undefeated nonconference schedule will give Purdue 15 straight home wins, which would tie for the sixth-longest home winning streak in Mackey Arena history. Purdue has dominated the opposition at home during the month of November, going 33-1 (.971) under head coach Matt Painter. The lone loss was on Nov. 9, 2012, to Bucknell (70-65). The average margin of victory in those games is 24.0 points (815 points). Going back further, Purdue is 68-7 (.907) all-time at Mackey Arena during the month of November.

5 Stunning Turnaround Purdue went 5-13 two years ago in Big Ten play, finishing 12th out of 12 teams in the league standings. However, Purdue finished 12-6 and tied for third out of 14 teams a year ago, a seven-win improvement from two years ago which ranks as the greatest Big Ten win improvement in school history. Painter is averagingover 10 wins a year in league play. Matt Painter coached his 337th game in his 10th season at Purdue and his 367th career game in his 11th season. Painter ranks third on the career wins list at Purdue (212) and is one of six coaches in Big Ten history to have won three of more Big Ten Coach of the Year accolades. Purdue trailed at halftime in nine of its 20 games against Big Ten opponents a year ago, posting a 7-2 record in those games. Eight different players led the team in scoring last year. Purdue made its seventh tournament apperance under head coach Matt Painter and the first since Only Gene Keady (17 appearances in 25 years) has led Purdue to more NCAA Tournaments than Painter. The final starting lineup of freshmen Vince Edwards and Dakota Mathias, juniors Rapheal Davis and A.J. Hammons and senior Jon Octeus were 9-2 as a starting group. The losses came to No. 6-ranked Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals and to Cincinnati in the NCAA Tournament. Purdue ended the season ranked 90th nationally in field goal percentage (.449) and 50th nationally in field goal percentage defense (.401). It marked the first time in the Matt Painter era that Purdue finished in the nation s top 100 in both categories in the same year. Purdue s field goal percentage defense of 40.1 percent (overall) was the program s best since the 2010 season (.399) and the third lowest since the shot clock was introduced before the season ( ; ). In Big Ten play only, Purdue led the league in field goal percentage defense (.393) and three-point percentage defense (.322). Purdue s field goal percentage of 44.9 percent was the program s best since the season (.460) and the third-highest percentage since Purdue s 177 blocked shots were the most in school history. The 5.21 blocked shots per game was the second-highest average in school history. The Boilermakers plus-4.8 rebound margin was the fourth-best margin in school history. Purdue s 36.7 rebounds per game were the fourth-highest average in a season since the shot clock was introduced in Purdue held 11 opponents last year to 59 or fewer points, posting an 11-0 record when that happens.
