5 3-pt Shooting Contest Participation/Registration Rules GIRLS DIVISION BOYS DIVISION ADULT DIVISION Ages ( ) * 11U (max 20 participants) (max 30 participants) Ages (12-15) * 15U (max 20 participants) Ages (12-15) * 15U (max 40 participants) Ages (16-19) * 19U (max 40 participants) Ages 16-19) * 19U (max 60 participants) * You are allowed to move up to an older division, but you cannot move down REQUIREMENTS: Girls: Must be in town on Tuesday evening. Qualifying round for the girls is 9:30pm TUES at LCA Boys/Adults : Must be in town on Wednesday evening. Qualifying rounds will be 9:30pm WED at the LaHaye Centers (5 courts) following the last girls games. FINALS will be Friday morning at the Vines Center for all divisions. * Age determination is your age as of March 1, 2010 Prize Packs for Winner in each division including 50 gift certificate from Dick s Sporting Goods To keep teams together, all participants from the same team will be assigned the same court. Be sure to bring enough basketballs. See rules below Use form below to register via mail. (We recommend that you register on-line, as this event fill up fast) RULES 1. We recommend that you register for this event on-line since it fills up fast. 2. Registration runs through March 7 th or until filled (check tournament web-site for status updates) 3. Cost is 5 per person with a chance to win Cash and other prizes st Place in each division wins Prize Pack and customized engraved medal 5. 2 nd Place in each division - customized engraved medal with engraving, gift bag, and more! 6. Qualifying round There will be ONE preliminary round for the girls and ONE for the boys and ONE for the adults. a. Girls preliminary round will be Tuesday evening at LCA main court b. Boys and Adults preliminary round will be Wednesday evening (at LaHaye Center using all 5 courts c. We will narrow down all divisions to the top 2 shooters who will compete on Friday morning at the Vines Center 7. 3-Pt CONTEST Format a. You have 60 seconds to score as many 3-pt shots as you can. b. New! Only 6 balls may be used for each shooter. c. You may shoot from the same spot or a variety of locations behind the 3-pt line. d. Referees will be on hand to verify all legal 3-pointers. e. You may only have TWO helpers that will rebound for you. f. Keep shooting until the clock runs down to 0:00 5

6 g. STRATEGY use your 2 helpers to rebound as fast as possible to give you the most attempts possible for 60 seconds. (Take time to practice with your helpers after one of your practices) h. You will be assigned a time for your preliminary round. We will group participants by their team name since you will be using helpers. 8. ADVANCING TO THE FINALS a. We will continue qualifying until we have established 4 finalists from each division b. If you think your score is high enough, you need to stick around, you may have to shoot again c. Finalists will report to the Vines Center on Friday morning for the Final 4 round 9. THE FINALS a. The 2 finalists from each division will face off Friday morning at the Vines Center. (Failure to appear results in a forfeit) b. The top scorer in each division after everyone has completed shooting their final round is the winner, and the runner-up is the second highest scorer. c. Tie-breakers will be used if necessary. d. No semi-finals or seedings will be used 6

8 SLAM * DUNK Contest Held Friday at the Vines Center Winner Receives Scholarship and medal You must be able to actually dunk in order to register for this event Use form below to register via mail, or you may register on-line at the tournament web-site (link below) RULES FORMAT Limited to 12 participants on a first-paid, first-served basis Must be registered by March 7 th or until filled in order to participate Cost is 10 per person Runner-up receives: customized medal with engraving and gift bag Round 1 you have 30 seconds to complete a dunk. If you fail, keep trying for a successful dunk before the clock runs down to 0:00 Round 2 and Round 3 same format as Round 1 The judges will deduct points for each failed attempt in a round. You will have 3 rounds and your scores from all 3 rounds will be totaled by the judges CELEBRITY JUDGES A panel of judges will be created and may include some tournament sponsors, Liberty Staff and/or members of the media Each judge will score each round on from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest). Your score will be the total score from all judges for all 3 rounds DISQUALIFICATIONS Cannot hang on the rim Cannot use the rim as leverage to pull yourself up with one hand while dunking with the other Cannot use chairs, partners or any other type of props (for safety reasons) TIE-BREAKERS If the top 2 or more contestants are tied after 3 rounds, then a tie-breaker round will occur until the tie is broken. Like the 3-pt contest, your score in the tie breaker round stands alone and you cannot use your prior best of scores from earlier rounds. 8
