I will remember that the game is played for the youth and not for the adults. I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at every game and practice. I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as booing, yelling or taunting; or using profane language or gestures. I will demand that my child demonstrates good sportsmanship and treat other players, coaches, officials and spectators with respect. If I attend practice, I (and my guests) will not participate in any way. Specifically, I will not speak to my daughter or the coaches. I will not attempt to coach my daughter during practice. Implements program philosophy and works toward role on team. Rebounding The ability to a) keep opponent from getting the ball and b) gain possession of the ball. Ball Handling Demonstrates an ability to enter the ball into offense. Shows willingness and confidence in dribbling the ball versus defensive pressure. Skill Drills Player hustles in all drills and uses practice time to get better and make teammates better. Listens to directions, follows directions and competes. Team Player Demonstrates the willingness to do what is best for the team. For example, passing to open players, passing up a good shot for a better shot, hustling on offense and defense. Shooting Demonstrates an ability to make shots in her range both in drills, scrimmages and games. 5 FAQ What is the financial commitment? The financial commitment for the season is $350 in dues, payable at the mandatory parent meeting 8 th grade players are required to purchase a shooting shirt that they will keep at end of season for an additional $35. Basketball shoes are required and must be purchased through the program s Eastbay Store. Bags, sweatshirts/pants, and other related items are optional and can be purchased through the Eastbay Store There will be no additional fundraising other than parents are required to volunteer at a Holiday Tournament in December, which is a big overall fundraiser for the program What the time commitment? As of now, practices and games have not been scheduled, but as a general rule, both could occur on any given day. Games can be on both weekends and weeknights. Practices can be two to four times per week, depending on the grade level. As soon as the practice and game schedules are set, they will be communicated and posted on the website. Tournaments Selected weekends in the fall (pre-season tournaments typically begin in mid-october), December Holiday Tournaments, and end-of-season conference tournament. The December Holiday Tournaments that Pope will be hosting are scheduled from Dec and Dec 26-31, but are subject to change. Throughout the season, parents will be required to volunteer time to support the program, including set up, score book, time clock, clean up, etc (we will plan a scheduled training session for those with no experience) Team Parent/Coordinator and Team Advisory Committee (Board of Directors) When will final teams be announced and posted? Final teams will be posted on our website by Thursday, October 1 st at 6:00 p.m. What are the next steps? If your daughter is selected for a team, please plan to attend the Mandatory Parent Meeting on Sunday, October 4th, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. in the Pope Cafeteria where we will complete registration, collect program dues, share program expectations for parents and players, and meet your coaches and teammates If you have not done so already, please print out the registration form from the website and bring it to the parent meeting along with the following: 1) Copy of Report Card / Progress Report (address must match proof of residency) 2) Copy of Player s Birth Certificate 3) Proof of Pope District Residency (utility bill address must match report card and if player s last name is different than name on proof, CCJBC now requires proof of Guardianship!)
