Crawford, a junior from Honea Path, South Carolina, opened up the season going 3-for-5 while picking up an assist in the Paladins 13-4 win on Friday. Starting game two of the series, Crawford threw four innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out eight batters as Furman edged out Marist 5-4. In game three, Crawford was a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate, including a three-run home run as Furman defeated Marist 7-6 on Sunday. The junior from Tampa, Florida, struck out 12 batters, picking up the 6-2 win against Northern Kentucky on Friday. Kaczor retired the first 10 batters he faced, holding Northern Kentucky hitters to a.091 batting average. For his efforts, Kaczor was also named Collegiate Baseball Player of the Week. A transfer from St. Petersburg, Kaczor posted a record of 5-2 with an ERA of 3.06 for the Titans last season. Kazcor, who debuted for the Bucs on Friday, didn t walk a single batter and gave up just one extra-base hit. #SoConBB SoCon teams went 5-3 in action on Tuesday and Wednesday, pushing the SoCon combined record against non-conference opponents to overall. Furman, UNCG, Samford, VMI, Western Carolina and Wofford each had a single game, while Mercer hosted Florida A&M for a pair. Furman fell to #11 Clemson 12-4 on Tuesday while Wofford was topped by UNC Asheville 10-4 on Wednesday. Mercer split its two-game series with Florida A&M. The Bears edged out game one before falling in game two VMI claimed its second victory of the year, defeating No. 15 University of Virginia on Tuesday. The victory over the Cavaliers gave VMI two wins over a ranked opponent for the first time in 11 years. For his efforts, starting pitcher Brandon Barbery was named the So- Con Student-Athlete of the Week, tossing five innings in the victory. The Keydets will have their first home series this weekend, hosting Lafayette beginning on Friday. Western Carolina notched its first victory of the 2018 season, topping Morehead State 6-2 on Tuesday. The Catamounts will host Canisius for a three-game tilt starting Friday. UNCG defeated Oakland 13-8 on Tuesday. The Spartans will travel to Tennessee for a three game series this weekend. Samford, who was victorious over Jacksonville State 9-3 on Tuesday, hosts Harvard this upcoming weekend. The Bulldogs will play one game on Friday, a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. ETSU s Micah Kaczor was named the SoCon Pitcher of the week after striking out 12 batters in his debut for the Bucs. Kaczor was also named one of Collegiate Baseball s Players of the Week on Monday. The Bucs travel to Florida Gulf Coast for a three-game series beginning Friday.
