It wraps up an 11 game stretch that included seven games away from the Super Pit. North Texas first four games of the season were away. The Mean Green defeated the Pac-12 s Arizona for the first time in program history on Nov. 22 in Tucson, Ariz. They also defeated Iona on Nov. 26, a year after the Gaels beat the Mean Green. During the nonconference schedule North Texas has flexed its depth. Through 10 games, all 13 active players have seen playing time and play an average of 11 per game. Eight times this season North Texas has had at least nine players score at least one point. The Mean Green only had nine players score in a single game twice all year. Deer has been deadly from beyond the arc this season. The junior has made 59.1 percent of her 3-point field goal attempts. Deer is averaging 19.1 points per game over her last two games and scored a team high 10 points at Baylor. Against Prarie View, Deer made six 3-pointers, which set a new career-high. She is responsible for 18 percent of the team s offensive scoring this season. As a team, the Bobcats are discipline that doesn t turn the ball over often and can force opposing teams into turnovers. In its most recent game versus Sam Houston State, Texas State scored a season-high 28 points off turnovers. The Bobcats forced a season-high 27 turnovers at UTSA on Dec. 1.

2 700 Club Against Indiana, North Texas senior guard Candice Adams became the 22nd Mean Green women s basketball player to eclipse the 700-point mark when she made her second field goal of the game. Swiper More Swiping Senior Kelsey Criner recorded her 100th career steal vs. Incarnate Word. The second-year player is on pace to finish her North Texas career with 151 steals, which would be the second most steals in a player s first two seasons at North Texas. AD Getting More PT North Texas freshman point guard Adrianna Henderson played a season-high 15 minutes at Missouri State. In the first four games, the Topeka, Kansas, native only played once. She played in mop-up duty versus Omaha in the Preseason WNIT. Since North Texas fourth game of the season at Arizona, Henderson has played in every game, averaging seven minutes per game. Finding A Five In seven of North Texas 10 games this season it has had a different starting lineup. Ellison is the only Mean Green player to start every game this season. Turnover Margin North Texas is averaging 2.4 less turnovers per game than its opponents. Mean Green opponents are averaging 20.7 turnovers per game. Second Half Offense North Texas is averaging 35.1 points in the second half of games opposed to 25.8 in the first half. Through 10 games, the Mean Green have had at least nine players score in a game eight times. Last season, they only did that twice. Criner's Diner Senior Kelsey Criner led the team a season ago with 13 points per game. Through the team s first 10 games this year, Criner has averaged just 8.6 points per game. Last season, Criner averaged just 9.9 points per game in the first 10 games of the season. The next ten games she would average 14.1 points per game. Then she averaged 15 points per game in the final 11 games of the season. In the Mean Green s last three games, Criner has begun her takeoff. She's had three consecutive games of scoring double digits and has 14 FGs in those three games after only making 14 FGs in the first six games of the season. Last Time vs. Texas State The Mean Green last played the Bobcats on Nov. 21, 2015, at Texas State. Texas State won It was the one game last season Candice Adams missed. Only eight Mean Green players saw action against the Bobcats. They were led by 18 points from 2016 graduate Acheil Tac. Texas State s Taeler Deer led all players with 32 points. Of the five Mean Green returners, Terra Ellison had the most points with nine. CLUTCH North Texas senior Terra Ellison owns a.682 field goal percentage in the fourth quarter of games (15-22). In the second half her field goal percentage is.581 (25-43). For the season, her field goal percentage is.531, which leads the team. Streaking North Texas senior Candice Adams made three 3-pointers at Missouri State. She has made a 3-pointer in 12-straight games dating back to last season, which is now a career-best for her. Adams has made a 3-pointer in 23 of the last 24 games and 36 of the last 40 games. Deep Threat Saturday at Missouri State, senior Candice Adams tied her season-high with three made 3FGs. She is averaging two 3FGS per game and is on pace to finish the season with 58 made 3FGs, which would be the fourth most in a single season in program history. She is averaging five 3FG attempts per game and is on pace to shoot 145 for the season - the ninth most in a single season in program history. If she were to finish the season 58-for-145 for 3FGs, she d finish the season with a.400 3FG percentage - tied for the fifth highest percentage for a single season in program history. She d tie Kelsey Criner s percentage from last season. Deep Threat Part 2 Against Indiana and Incarnate Word, the Mean Green made 16 3FGs. It s the most 3FGs North Texas has made in consecutive games under second-year head coach Jalie Mitchell. It s the most 3FGs the Mean Green have made in consecutive games since 1/9/13-1/12/13 when North Texas made 19 3FGs in consecutive games. Terra For The Win In games the Mean Green have won, senior Terra Ellison owns a.731 field goal percentage (19-26). Ellison Grabbing More Boards North Texas senior forward Terra Ellison leads her team with 57 rebounds on the season. Ellison entered her senior season averaging 2.9 rebounds per game over her first three years of college. She currently is averaging 5.7 rebounds per game and is on pace to finish the year with 174 rebounds. NCAA-BEST Last year, in their first season under head coach Jalie Mitchell, the Mean Green improved their field goal percentage from the previous season by an NCAAbest 7.23 percent. North Texas averaged 9.5 more points and 4.3 more assists per game than the year before. The sophomore from Sunnyvale, Texas, transferred in May from the Missouri Valley Conference s Loyola University Chicago. Through 10 games, Goodhart has played in every one and started at Arizona. 4 Jalie Mitchell begins her second season as head coach of the North Texas women s basketball team in Under her leadership, the Mean Green took a major step forward in her inaugural year as head coach and finished with an record that more than doubled the team s win total from a season prior. A true mark of the competitive fire that Mitchell instilled all season, North Texas picked up its first win of the year on the road over then No. 17 Oklahoma. It was Mitchell s first head coaching victory and the program s first-ever win over a ranked team. The Mean Green built on that success throughout the year and would go on to win its first Conference USA Tournament game before falling in the second round. Junior Kelsey Criner, a key transfer for Mitchell and her staff, was named to the C-USA All- Defensive Team for her play throughout the season. Since being named the head coach in April of 2015, Mitchell has had four transfers from power-five conferences join North Texas roster. Furthermore, her first high school recruiting class featured four freshmen, one of whom was a Texas high school state champion that was named a 6A Texas high school all-tournament team member. When hired, Mitchell described North Texas as her dream job. The 2002 Mean Green graduate boasts numerous records as a four-year letter winner on the North Texas women s basketball team. She finished as the Mean Green s alltime leading scorer with 1,764 points and tops the list of career free throws made and attempted. In 2002, Mitchell was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year when she averaged 19.4 points per game. She earned all-conference honors all four years at North Texas and was a part of the winningest senior class in program history, compiling a record -- including a 42-4 mark at the Jalie Mitchell Head Coach Second Year 4 North Texas 02 Super Pit -- and making back-to-back WNIT appearances in 2001 and Mitchell s No. 44 is one of two women s basketball numbers that has been retired by the Mean Green, and her spectacular playing career culminated in 2007 when she was inducted into the North Texas Hall of Fame. Statistically, North Texas had a noticeable increase in offense and shooting percentage in the first season under Mitchell. The Mean Green owned a 41.7 field goal percentage in the season. It was a 7.23 percent increase from the previous season the largest improvement in the country. It was also the sixth-highest shooting percentage in North Texas history. In total, the Mean Green averaged nearly 10 more points per game in than the year before. Prior to becoming the Mean Green s head coach, Mitchell had two stints as an assistant in Denton. Most recently under then head coach Karen Aston for the campaign. In that campaign, the team went 15-16, which is its best record of the last nine seasons. When Aston left the Mean Green to coach Texas in 2012, Mitchell followed. In her three seasons at Texas, the team combined for a overall record. The Longhorns made the NCAA Tournament field the last two seasons, including a Sweet 16 appearance in their first since Mitchell began her collegiate coaching career in 2008 as an assistant coach with the Mean Green under Shanice Stephens. She spent two seasons at North Texas under Stephens before taking on the same position at UNC Wilmington for the season. Mitchell helped the Seahawks finish with a 24-9 record and reach the second round of the WNIT, both program bests. In addition to the North Texas Athletics Hall of Fame, Mitchell was inducted into the Duncanville ISD Athletic Hall of Honor. In October of 2015, joining her former high school teammate and WNBA legend Tamika Catchings.
