Since playing their last game at the Thomas & Mack Center on Dec. 1, the Runnin' Rebels won at Portland (68-60) on Dec. 4, pulled off a last-second victory at California (76-75) on Dec. 9, defeated La Verne (91-44) on Dec. 13 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, and won at UTEP (62-60) on Monday night... UNLV is 5-1 at the Thomas & Mack Center this season with its only loss being to Oregon (83-79)... Prior to that, the Panthers won at George Mason (82-77) in overtime on Dec UNI has two players averaging double figures in scoring in sophomore guard Deon Mitchell (13.7 ppg) and sophomore forward Seth Tuttle (10.3)... senior forward Jake Koch leads the team in rebounding (6.4 rpg), while Mitchell is also the team's assist leader (3.8 apg)... The two conferences split last year's matchups, 4-4, while the MW won the 2010 Challenge, 8-1, and the MVC took the 2009 Challenge, 5-4. last time vs northern iowa - march 18, 2010 in ncaa tournament Ali Farokhmanesh hit a 3-pointer from the left wing with 4.9 seconds left to lift ninth-seeded Northern Iowa over UNLV on March 18, 2010, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Oklahoma City... Farokhmanesh found himself open after Kwadzo Ahelegbe had chewed up the majority of the clock following Oscar Bellfield's tying 3-pointer for UNLV with 35 seconds remaining... Johnny Moran reversed the ball to Farokhmanesh, who drained the jumper with the shot clock running down... The Runnin' Rebels got one last chance to tie it, but Tre'Von Willis didn't get his 3-pointer off before the final buzzer and it was off-target anyway... Farokhmanesh finished with 17 points, including three 3-pointers in the second half, and Ahelegbe added 13 points as the Panthers snapped a 20-year drought in the NCAA Tournament.

Marcus Banks ( ) is No. 7 with 158. undefeated on the road UNLV is 3-0 on the road this year, which is its best road start to a season since beginning the campaign 4-0 in true road games. win streak at seven games UNLV has won seven straight games since suffering its only loss of the year to Oregon at the Thomas & Mack Center on Nov. 23. UNLV's last win streak of seven games was last season and the last time UNLV won eight in a row was also last year when it started the year 8-0. bennett earns mountain west player of the week honors UNLV freshman Anthony Bennett was named the Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games through December 9, the league announced on Dec. 10. This was the first MW weekly accolade for Bennett and also the Runnin' Rebels' first of the season. Bennett, 6-8 forward from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, led then-no. 21/18 UNLV to a 2-0 record on the road the previous week with wins at Portland and at California. In Dec. 4's victory against the Pilots, he scored a game-high 18 points on 6-of-11 (.545) shooting from the field, while adding six rebounds, a career-high three steals and one blocked shot in 29 minutes of action. Bennett scored the Runnin' Rebels' first seven points of the contest, finishing with 11 overall in the opening 20 minutes of play. On Dec. 9 at Cal, Bennett tallied game- and then-careerhighs of 25 points and 13 rebounds in recording his second double-double of the season. He was 9-of-17 (.529) from the field and also had a steal in 35 minutes of play. With the teams trading baskets and neither side holding more than a two-point lead down the stretch, Bennett scored six of the Runnin' Rebels' final eight points over the last 1:36 as UNLV earned the victory. For the week, Bennett averaged 21.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 53.6 percent (15-of-28) from the field and 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from the free throw line. Bennett has scored in double figures in all 10 of his games this season for UNLV and has led the team in scoring eight times, including seven of its last eight games. He has tallied 22 or more points in a game five times this season. season opener sees record crowd The 18,187 attendance figure for UNLV's season-opening win over Northern Arizona on Nov. 12 at the Thomas & Mack Center was the largest in school history for a Runnin' Rebel season home opener. The previous record was 17,778 in UNLV's first home game of the season. Through six Thomas & Mack Center home games this season, the Runnin' Rebels are averaging 15,582 fans. If that average lasted until the end of the season, it would be the highest since the season. top 25 in the nation, statistically speaking... UNLV is in the top 25 in the country in several statistical categories, including seventh in the country in percentage of field goals assisted (66.7), eighth in assists per game (17.6), ninth in 3-point field-goal percentage defense (24.7), 14th in rebounding (42.6), 22nd in field-goal percentage defense (37.1) and 25th in scoring (78.9 ppg)... Moser is out of action for quite some time after suffering a dislocated elbow at Cal on Dec. 9. In both the NAU and Jacksonville State games, five UNLV players tallied double figures in scoring, while four scored 10 or more vs. Oregon, Hawaii and at UTEP, and three tallied double figures against Iowa State, UC Irvine, at Portland, at Cal and vs. La Verne. Bennett has scored in double figures in all 10 of UNLV's games (leading scorer in eight, including seven of the last eight), while Reinhardt has scored in double figures seven times and Marshall in six games. freshman Bennett wows... He was the lone Runnin' Rebel named to the Global Sports Classic all-tournament team, which took the season's first four games into account. During those games he averaged 19.5 ppg, 8.3 rpg and 2.3 bpg in 26 minutes played per contest, while shooting 55.6 percent from the field. percentage of field goals assisted Last year UNLV finished second in the country in percentage of field goals assisted at 65.4 percent. So far this season, UNLV has recorded assists on 66.7 percent of its field goals (176 assists on 264 field goals), which ranks seventh in the country. Kendrick, a former McDonald's High School All-American, is a 6-foot-7-inch, 205-pound sophomore guard at Indian Hills Community College in Iowa.
