We do keep score the 3rd-4th and the 5th-6th divisions, but no team standings are kept. We do shoot free throws on shooting fouls. The distance to the hoop is different for each division.

IGNITE WINTER SESSION: WEDNESDAYS, JANUARY 9 - MARCH 20, 7-8:30 PM At Ignite, 4th- and 5th-grade students meet friends and leaders who will help them become the kind of people God created them to be. They have fun and dive into God s Word to see how it speaks to their everyday experiences. Kids don t want to miss Ignite! Full Uniforms are Mandatory! Help Us Keep the gym floors dry! Remember to carry in your court shoes on practice and game days. Upward Jerseys and shorts must be worn for All practices & games. This rule applies for All Basketball players Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your game to meet with your team in your team s room.

4 A Note for Parents: Please remember that the Attendance Policy is in effect. Please be sure your players are attending practices and games in order to insure that they and their team get the maximum benefit from Upward Basketball. Inclement Weather Procedures: icsports has an emergency alert texting system to notify participants and volunteers when weather conditions dictate practice or game cancellations or schedule adjustments. This system will also be used on a limited basis to remind the user base of important dates and events. To ensure that you are included in the notifications: If you signed up for alerts at the parent meetings, no action is required, unless your cell phone number changes. If you have not signed up for alerts, or if your cell phone number changes, please send your name and the cell phone number at which you wish to receive emergency text messages to Laurie Cessna at LAC.CUBS@yahoo.com. Without signing up for emergency alerts, you will not receive them, even if you provided your cell phone number in your child s registration. Iron and preheat the garment - Place star, adhesive side down on garment (The milky finish should be facing down) - Important! 5 We have the exciting opportunity to partner with Operation Christmas Child (OCC) and impact the lives of needy children around the world. Now through January 26, players and coaches can bring in items for Operation Christmas Child while competing in a contest against the other Upward teams. OCC has requested tennis balls, hot wheels/matchbox cars and small stuffed animals, such as beanie babies. All items should be new or very very gently used. Teams will earn one point for each item they bring in. Items can be turned in to an Upward leader at practices or on game day. At the end of the season, the two boys teams and the two girls teams with the highest number of points/items donated will win a PIZZA PARTY on Feb 2nd. Contest standings will be included in the weekly newsletter, so be sure to check how your team is doing. Thank you everyone for all the donations! 6 Trinity Day Is Coming On January 19. Mark Your Calendars On January 19, the basketball teams from Trinity International University will be joining us at Upward. Although their schedule limits their availability to be with us all day, many of our players will have the opportunity to interact with them and get to know them. Additionally, all of our Upward players and their families will have the opportunity to attend both the men's and women's Basketball Games at Trinity that evening...for FREE! Please join us for an evening of great college basketball action. Upward players will be recognized at the games and will have the opportunity to get on the court, dribble around, and take some shots. Please have your players wear their Upward uniforms to the Trinity games.
