1 2018 Florida Football Postgame Notes Missouri 38, No. 11 Florida 17 Quick Hits The Gators all-time record against Missouri falls to 3-5, and they are 3-4 in the series since o Florida has lost the last two games in the series by a total score of o The last six games in the series have been decided by 18 or more points. Offensive Trends & Notes Florida passed its 2016 season total for scrimmage touchdowns (29 in 13 games) with Kyle Trask s 7-yard touchdown pass to Josh Hammond with 20 seconds remaining in the third quarter; it only had 25 scrimmage TDs last year. Trask entered the game with five minutes left in the third quarter and completed his first three passes for 39 yards. Trask s 7-yard touchdown pass to Hammond on fourth-and-goal in the third quarter was the first of his career. o Hammond s 7-yard touchdown reception was his second of the season and his career. Trask set career highs in completions (10), attempts (18), and passing yards (126). Kadarius Toney s 72 receiving yards topped his previous career high of 40, which came against Tennessee last year. Feleipe Franks rushing touchdown in the second quarter tied Jordan Scarlett and Lamical Perine for the team lead. Defensive Trends & Notes The Gators allowed a season-high 250 passing yards and 471 total yards o The 250 passing yards were the most they surrendered since Vanderbilt threw for 264 last year. Missouri is the third of Florida s opponents Charleston Southern (222), Kentucky (303) to rush for at least 200 yards. o Five of Florida s opponents in both 2016 and 2017 broke the 200-yard mark on the ground. Florida allowed its highest total offense yardage in a first half this year (274), its second-highest rushing total in a first half this year (148 yards only Kentucky s 161 was higher), and its third-highest passing total in a first half this year (126 LSU had 127, Tennessee had 140). Florida s last two opponents are 19 for 32 on third down (59.4 percent); its three opponents prior to that were a combined nine for 41 (21.95 percent) on third downs. Jachai Polite already has 9.5 tackles for loss this year; he entered 2018 with nine for his career. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson s sack on Missouri s opening possession of the third quarter was Florida s 23rd of the season, matching its 11-game total from the 2017 season. Garnder-Johnson notched at least two tackles for loss for the second time this year and fourth time in his career. o Gardner-Johnson entered the year with 6.5 tackles for loss; he has eight this year. Vosean Joseph has 12-plus tackles in three of the last four games. David Reese II tied his career high with 14 tackles; he also had 14 last season at Florida State. o Reese II has 10-plus tackles in four of the six games he has played this year. Brad Stewart s nine tackles today topped his previous career high of seven, which came at Tennessee earlier this year. Florida Special Teams Lou Groza Award semifinalist Evan McPherson has made 13 of his first 14 collegiate field goal attempts, adding a 32- yarder today. o McPherson entered this week tied for fourth nationally in field goal percentage (92.3 percent), and he was third nationally among kickers with at least 10 attempts this season. We didn t play very well at all with attention to detail, our sense of urgency, and our execution. That s all about coaching. We got to do a much better job, and that s all three phases. That s offense, that s defense, and that s special teams. You look at us with penalties, not real pleased with that. Situational football, we were horrific on third down on both sides of the ball. And you go back to penalties, big special teams penalties. No game-changing special teams plays. In fact, negative special teams plays most of the night. Poor execution on offense and we got out-physicaled on defense. And again, that s a lot to do with coaching, with us making sure we re a very physical football team. We have to get that fixed from us. Now, Missouri is always an excellent football team. Give them credit, they ve got one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC. And you saw a team and I kept saying and preaching to our guys that they ve lost close games this year and they ve made mistakes in those games. What happens when they don t make mistakes? What happens when they don t get big penalties in the red zone? What happens when they don t turn the ball over and finish them? And we didn t create a turnover. All the little things you need to do the win the football game we re not doing them. That we did do early in the year. And there s really not a magic wand and nobody thinks there is. You just follow the plan to win and play great defense. Win the turnover battle, and we didn t create any turnovers. We didn t turn it over either so we didn t win the turnover battle, right? Red zone scoring. We have to get touchdowns every time you re in the red zone. We didn t do that. Left points on the field, not that that would have made a difference. Win special teams. Go back, we ll sit here Monday morning in this very room. We ll get up a chart on the board with the exact plan to win. Pretty much I can tell you when we won ad when we lost. Just put that chart down and you ll know the page to the game. And we didn t do those things today. We got to get better. We re back here in seven days again and we got to come out there and get ready to perform and win the game. On the plan at quarterback going forward Same as it s been all year. We ll see. We weren t moving the ball very well. Feleipe missed a throw or two here but he s also getting hit. We got a lot of guys open and I m looking, I m like What s going on?, and then all of a sudden the ball sails and you want to all jump on him and there he is with three guys getting pulled off the top of him. So we ll see how he performed this week and if there s a drastic change, we ll make a change. And if not, we ll play with who s gonna give us the best chance to win. On Feleipe Franks attitude during the game I don t think his attitude was bad today. We were behind and I wanted to try to do something different. What we were doing wasn t working and the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over and hoping it works eventually. There s repetition in practice but when you get to the game and we have to try to go do it. We tried to see if something else would change a spark. We also put in Dameon Pierce on that drive. Jordan Scarlett and Perine are still gonna play too. We put in Dameon Pierce and went right down the field and scored. I just think that position gets a lot more attention than the running back position. On Kyle Trask I thought he did okay. We ll watch the film. Missed a throw or two here, but made some good throws and got the ball out, and on time. Gave our guys a chance for the most part. Other times we didn t, and he gave our guys some chances to make some plays. On defensive struggles on 3 rd down and the lack of turnovers Surprised is a different word. I mean, now you have to play a lot. We re not getting a lot of pressure on quarterbacks. Obviously, we ve been pretty depleted in the secondary throughout the year. And that s one of the things, for me, I m on our guys about rolling guys defensively. It starts to wear on you. And not in an individual game, but in your total reps on the whole season. It starts to wear on you. If you re in the secondary and you re playing 70 plays a game, it doesn t show up in maybe game three, four, or five. It starts showing up in game nine, ten, 11. You re worn down from the season from the lack of depth, and lack of rotation, and the plays you have to play. As bad as we ve been on defense, we re really bad on offense too. In key moments in the game we re not executing the way we need to. We have to make sure. We ll evaluate. Are we putting our guys in position to be successful, right? They were 24 of 32 passing today. How many sacks did we have? Did we have one? So None. We never tackled him. That s not real good. It s a harsh reality for us, as a team. It s a little bit of a reality check of where we are with the offense. That if we come out and really play as a team, in all three phases, we re good enough to play with anybody out there. But if we don t, we re not. We might have a little inflated opinion of ourselves with the talent that s out on the field. We have got to play all three phases. Follow the plan to win. Be the tougher, more physical team on the field and play as a team if we want to have a chance to win a game in the SEC right now. And that s a little bit of a reality check for guys. We ve had some success. We ve won some tough games. And all of a sudden, you start patting yourself on the back and thinking, boy, we might have some answers. We don t. Just play hard, play tough. Those games that we won, we played all three phases as a team; played well, executed well, played hard, desperate, every single play, not just because we re more talented, but number one we played as a team. That s a little bit of a reality check that we can get and make sure that everybody understands.

3 2018 Florida Football Postgame Quotes Florida Student-Athletes Missouri 38, No. 11 Florida 17 #5 CJ Henderson, Sophomore, Cornerback On what needs to change I think our practice habits need to change. We have some practice habits from last year that we brought into this year and we need to change that. We have to put this game past us and look forward with a positive attitude and come back next week ready to play. On fixing the defense It starts with practice. We have to wrap up and sure up and do what the coaches say. We have to focus on getting off the field on third down and it starts with us. On Coach Mullen s message to the team He told us that we are not where we are supposed to be. Going forward, we expect to win next week and we need to come in with a positive attitude. #10 Josh Hammond, Junior, Wide Receiver On what happened with the loss last year and this year We have to execute better as a team. We have to work harder in practice throughout the week, so we can be successful on Saturdays. On Kyle Trask Trask did really well. He s a guy that reps with the one s and two s every day in practice, Feleipe does too. All of those guys get the same reps and same looks throughout the week of practice. He was ready to execute when he came in and he did a really good job moving the ball. On touchdown He [Trask] checked it for me to run a slant. He put the ball in a good place for me to make a play. #25 Jordan Scarlett, Redshirt Junior, Running Back On team s reaction to game Just a little bit quiet and disappointed, obviously we didn t want it to end like that in the Swamp, but they had a better game. They executed better. On if the past two weeks is a reality check Yeah it was a reality check for a lot of us. A lot of guys thought that they were better than what they were. We just have to come back and work harder. #45 R.J. Raymond, Redshirt-Senior, Athlete On issues with the offense getting in rhythm... It s all just execution. We ve got the players and we ve got the talent, but at the end of the day it just comes down to how we execute. That s really the bottom line: We ve got to make the plays when the plays are there. It s 100 percent execution and what you do on the field Monday through Friday. On if this loss is because of level of focus... I wouldn t say it s a focus problem because when we are on the practice field, our guys are going hard. It comes down to wanting to play hard and doing it every single day. You have to work hard and be prepared because you re the Florida Gators and no matter where we are playing, our opponents want to beat the Gators. Every single week, we are going to get every team s best effort. On last week s practice and leadership on the team... Practice was good last week. We came off of that loss against Georgia and we knew we had to step up and knew this game had to be a bounce back game. We prepared well, but obviously it wasn t good enough, so we have to come back this week and do better. It comes down on us seniors as well. We have been through it all. We know what it s like to go to an SEC Championship game, but we also know how it feels to go 4-7. We have to bring everybody along with us.

4 2018 MIZZOU FOOTBALL GAME NOTES GAME 9 Gainesville, Fla. 3:00 PM (CT) Ben Hill Griffin Stadium SEC Network POSTGAME NOTES Mizzou now leads the all-time series with Florida, 5-3, and has won two straight. Mizzou is 2-2 all-time in games played in Gainesville. Mizzou head coach Barry Odom is now 7-2 in his career during the month of November. Mizzou and Odom have won six straight in the month of November dating back to 2016 Mizzou is now 6-2 all-time against teams ranked No. 13 in the AP Top-25 Poll. Saturday marked Mizzou s first road win over a top-15 team since 2014 when it claimed a win at No. 13 South Carolina en-route to a second straight SEC East title. OFFENSIVE NOTES Mizzou senior QB Drew Lock passed for 250 yards and three TDs on Saturday. He now ranks third all-time in SEC history with 90 career TD passes, moving past Florida s Chris Leak and Tim Tebow (88) and Tennessee s Peyton Manning (89). Lock passed for more yards than any QB has against Florida this season. It was the most passing yards allowed by Florida since surrendering 264 to Vanderbilt on Sept. 30, 2017, a span of 15 games. Mizzou rushed for 221 yards Saturday, the most allowed by Florida since surrendering 303 to Kentucky on Sept. 8, Sophomore RB Larry Rountree III rushed for Mizzou s first TD of the game on a 27-yard scamper in the first quarter. Saturday marked his third consecutive game with a rushing TD and has five over his last three contests. Junior RB Damarea Crockett rushed for 114 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown, recording his eighth career game with 100+ rushing yards. Freshman TE Daniel Parker tallied his first career catch Saturday. Senior WR Emanuel Hall returned from injury, missing the previous four games, to catch four passes for 77 yards and a TD. DEFENSIVE NOTES Mizzou has limited it last two opponents, both top-15 teams nationally, to a combined 32 points (16 per game). Junior LB Cale Garrett tallied 12 tackles, going over the 10-tackle mark for the fourth straight game. He is the first Tiger to accomplish that since All- American Kentrell Brothers in 2015 when he led the nation in tackles. Sophomore DE Akial Byers posted a career-high six tackles and a QB hurry. Junior CB Christian Holmes tallied a career-high eight tackles Saturday. #ShowMe // 1

The way that our guys, after a tough week last week, showed tough resolve throughout the course of the week. We ve talked about it early in the week for us. Sunday was really difficult and maybe a little bit of Monday. These situations a lot of time in sport mirror how your life can go. You re gonna be faced with adversity. You re gonna be faced with hard times. So, this game was decided long before the ball was kicked off. It s about recruiting. It s about relationship building. It s about the process of how you structure and then from week to week. I know you guys get bored with it, but I talk about having our best Tuesday practice. I thought we came out last Tuesday, used, fueled ourselves and our motivation a little bit on how the performance went the week before. Then we had another good practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were as good as we ve had. Then our guys executed at a high level in a lot of areas tonight. So proud of them, so excited for them. I also know that the next opportunity, the second week in November for us. Vandy didn t play today. They ve got a jump on us. We ve got to put this one behind us and go to work. A lot of great individual performances. We had some injuries and guys stood up, stepped up and made plays in crucial situations that maybe you look at on the depth chart. They don t show up much, but they made big time blocks. You know they made big time catches. Defensively, I thought we did some things not only in the front seven but on the back end that lent ourselves an opportunity to maybe play our best game. Florida was three of 15 on third-down conversions. That s a really good defensive performance. Offensively, when we could run the ball like we did tonight, that s what put us in a position to play really well. I was proud of the way that we played tonight. We ve gotta build on that. It s so crucial now to take the next step and get in through the second week of November. We ve talked all around our program about how important this month is, not only this team, but the building of our program and moving forward in the future. On how important Wide Receiver Emanuel Hall is to the offense I m proud of Emanuel on so many levels because what he s had to go through. The injury, the passing of his father. There s a lot of things on his plate. He s had a tough senior year. We know what he brings to the game plan and he just keeps on showing up every time we ve got him out there. You ve gotta count on the threat he has. The linear speed that he possesses. An area that Drew (Lock) has a great comfort level in. Then he made some really, really, tough catches tonight. So proud of him and happy to have him back out there with us. On how the team came on both sides of the ball in the third quarter It was huge. They got the ball back in the second half. We needed to get a three and out or if they got a first down, we needed to get off the field soon. I thought our defense responded. Go back, like any game, there s so many important plays. A game of inches and you never know what game, what drive, what series is gonna determine the outcome of a game. They all do, but ultimately that one was so key to us having a chance to be successful. #3, Drew Lock, Senior, Quarterback On first win over a ranked team Yeah it feels really good. It s kind of hard to put into words. It was a different week for us this week. You just kind of had this this feeling like there s no way you lose a football game. Sound weird. People were talking about how do you bounce back after a real upsetting lose against Kentucky. After a loss like that there s just no way you can go in and lose a game, because that will just amplify how you felt that Saturday. I wasn t going to let that happen. None of these guys were going to let that happen and that was our mindset coming into this week. On getting Emanuel Hall involved early in the game We wanted to see. We obviously didn t let full go right from the start. We gave him a little option, he said that he wanted to play and he wanted to try it out. I put him on that deep ball a little bit and he ran. He ran a little bit. I kind of underthrew him. It was good to be able to have that guy back out there on the field. People talk about when you re growing up you have your blanket, your little blanket. It s like I was sleeping and I was freezing for four weeks, but the little blanket came back and made some plays again. On getting Emanuel Hall back after four weeks It just shows how mentally tough he is. I think he s learned a lot about how to be mentally tough and how to manage things like that through the game of football since we ve been here. Without football, I don t think he would have been

6 able to manage that situation. Coming back and fighting through an injury, trying to be the best football player he can with all that other stuff going outside of the field. It just shows that he s grown up, that he s becoming a man really quick. #16, Damarea Crockett, Junior, Running Back On how it feels when the big runs start piling up... It just feels normal for me to be in my groove. It s obviously just a great feeling to go out there and play like that. It all starts with the offensive line. If those guys get a big push, it just makes it that much easier. On how he interpreted Coach Odom just telling him to lead earlier in the week... He was just looking for me to push the guys, keep everyone s head on straight and keep the team from spreading apart. Make them come together instead of just spreading apart because when we have a loss like that that s close [Missouri s loss to Kentucky last week], it s heartbreaking. It s really easy for guys to go separate ways. So really just to keep the energy right and keep guys close together. #84 Emanuel Hall, Senior. WR On the last couple of weeks This has been the toughest year of my life. A lot has happened as you ll know. Tonight, just being able to get out here and play again. There s no feeling like it. I missed the game, I missed playing with my guys. To go out, perform well and get this win against the top tier team. It means a lot to me. On football being a good distraction Yeah, it s a great outlet. Like I said, I love being with these guys. It s been tough seeing how we ve done the past few weeks. To go out and win against this team that no one expected us to. It feels great.
