WINNING THE TURNOVER BATTLE: UNH has won the turnover battle 5 of 10 games with a total of 14 turnovers in 10 games; the defense has recorded 18 takeaways. The turnover tally has been even twice, which means the Cats have lost the turnover battle three times (all losses). New Hampshire has not committed a turnover twice Nov. 4 at William & Mary and Sept. 9 at Georgia Southern. The Wildcats turned the ball over a season-high three times twice Oct. 28 at JMU and Oct. 14 at Stony Brook. UNH s defense recorded a season-high four takeaways vs. Rhode Island and three last week vs. Elon. ANOTHER WILDCAT FIRST DOWN: New Hampshire has converted 59 of 158 third downs into first downs for a mark of 37.3 percent. The Wildcats have been most efficient in the first quarter (17-for-31; 54.8%) and least efficient in the fourth (7-for-43; 16.3%). UNH s top game was at William & Mary, when the Cats converted 8 of 13 third downs (61.5%). 6 CAN T CONTAIN O CONNOR: Junior wide receiver Neil O Connor has 78 catches for 1,203 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns; those are averages of 15.4 yards/catch and yards/game. He accounts for 34% of UNH s receptions, 43% of the receiving yards and 42% of the receiving TDs. O Connor has caught seven or more passes 8 of 10 games, including a career-high 13 at Stony Brook as well as 11 against both Georgia Southern and Rhode Island. He has surpassed 100 receiving yards five times and that includes a personal best of 232 vs. URI as well as 193 at William & Mary and 182 at Stony Brook. HE CAN THROW THE BALL TOO: Neil O Connor threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to Malik Love in the season opener against Maine (to give the Wildcats a 14-7 lead with 33 seconds left in the first quarter); it was O Connor s first career pass attempt and the longest play in the game. Although it was O Connor s first official career pass and completion, it was not the first time he threw the ball. He was a perfect 3-for-3 on 2-point PAT passes last year. He is 3-for-3 this season with a 9-yard completion at Holy Cross and a 26-yarder at JMU. TARGET IN THE RED ZONE: Nick Lorden, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound redshirt freshman, pulled in touchdown catches of six and four yards against Towson (Oct. 21) for his first career multiple-td game. He had an 8-yard score at William & Mary (Nov. 4). Lorden now has five TDs on eight catches this season. FOUR SCORE AND THREE SEASONS AGO: Junior quarterback Trevor Knight recorded a career-high four TD passes against Towson on Oct. 21 and matched that Nov. 4 at William & Mary. Prior to this season, the last Wildcat to throw four TDs in a game was Sean Goldrich vs. Delaware on Nov. 15, 2014; Goldrich also had four touchdown passes earlier that season (Sept. 13) against Lehigh. PUTTING IT IN PERSPECTIVE: Neil O Connor had 232 receiving yards Sept. 23 vs. Rhode Island at Wildcat Stadium that is the second-highest single-game total in UNH history. David Ball established the benchmark of 284 yards Oct. 2, Number three on the list is 231 by Curtis Olds on Nov. 5, O Connor had three TD receptions Sept. 30 against Bryant at Wildcat Stadium. The previous time a Wildcat accomplished that feat was Nov. 15, 2014 (Harold Spears vs. Delaware). Spanning the seasons, a UNH Wildcat has caught three touchdown passes in a game just seven times (including O Connor). The others were David Ball in 2006 (twice), Mike Boyle in 07, R.J. Harris and Justin Mello in OFFENSE BACK ON TRACK AT W&M: New Hampshire s offense was slowed down by the James Madison defense but rebounded the next week at William & Mary. In the past eight games, UNH has amassed 470+ yards of total offense five times. 7 AIRING IT OUT: Prior to Trevor Knight s 420 passing yards Sept. 23 against URI, the last time a Wildcat QB surpassed 400 passing yards in a game was Sept. 13, 2014, when Sean Goldrich went 27 of 40 for 422 yards and four TDs vs. Lehigh University. GOING FOR 2: New Hampshire is 3-for-7 on 2-point PAT attempts this season; that includes a bad snap in which the holder was subsequently forced into a pass attempt that failed, as well as an errant snap that was fielded by a defender. The opposition did not attempt a 2-point PAT until the sixth game of the season, when Stony Brook went 0-for-2 (both pass attempts). Elon is the only other team to go for two, and the Phoenix pass attempt also failed. FIRST OF THE SEASON: New Hampshire s defense recorded its first and only points of the season when Rick Ellison scored on a 50-yard interception return against Bryant University on Sept. 30. THE CAPTAINS: Four seniors center Jake Kennedy, running back Trevon Bryant, running back Donald Goodrich and safety D Andre Drummond- Mayrie were elected captains by their teammates near the conclusion of spring ball. THE RUNNING BACK STABLE: Senior captain Donald Goodrich and sophomore Evan Gray lead a quartet of running backs with Gray playing the majority of snaps. Gray is the UNH leader in rushes (113), rushing yards (422) and rushing TDs (six) with averages of 3.7 yards per carry and 46.9 rushing yards per game; Gray has scored six of the team s 10 rushing TDs and also has 15 catches for 111 yards. Gray had an impressive 2017 debut with 18 carries for 74 yards in the opener vs. Maine. He followed that with 13 rushes, 77 yards and a TD against Georgia Southern. Gray finished with a career-high 98 rushing yards and two touchdowns against Bryant (Sept. 30). Goodrich, who has missed three of the last four games, has 23 carries for 87 yards (3.8 yards/carry) and five catches for 55 yards. Both Gray and Goodrich were sidelined in UNH s win against Towson University (Oct. 21), in which the Wildcats ran the ball 50 times for 299 yards and two touchdowns. Redshirt freshman DeUnte Chatman, who was converted from linebacker to running back following Trevon Bryant s injury in the spring, is just behind Gray with 379 rushing yards on 67 carries; he has three rushing TDs and is averaging 5.7 yards per carry. Chatman recorded a career-high 187 yards on a personal-best 22 carries, and he also recorded his first multiple-td game on runs of 26 and 23 yards in the aforementioned game vs. Towson. He had a breakout game at Holy Cross (Sept. 16) with six carries for 107 yards, including a 64-yard TD all in the fourth quarter. TOP TARGETS: Junior Neil O Connor and sophomore Malik Love lead the corps of receivers. O Connor has 78 catches for 1,203 yards and 10 TDs for averages of 7.8 receptions per game, 15.4 yards per catch and receiving yards per game. Love has played in 8 of 10 games with 44 catches for 480 yards and two TDs; those numbers rank second among active Cats, and they calculate to averages of 10.9 yards/catch and 60.0 yards/game. Love recorded a season-high 11 catches for 64 yards against nationallyranked Elon. He had a season-best 96 receiving yards and a touchdown on five catches in the Aug. 30 opener vs. Maine. Junior Kieran Presley has 22 catches for 281 yards and two TDs in five games, He had just two catches last week vs. Elon, but one was a career-long 49-yard reception. Presley made his 2017 season debut Oct. 14 at Stony Brook and finished with seven catches for 73 yards, both of which are personal bests. He followed that with two catches for 32 yards, including a 14-yard TD, against Towson. At James Madison (Oct. 28), Presley had a team-high 58 receiving yards on four catches. At William & Mary (Nov. 4), Presley had 60 yards and one touchdown on seven catches. Redshirt freshman Nick Lorden has five touchdowns on eight catches. Lorden recorded career highs in catches (three), receiving yards (34) and touchdowns (two) against Towson on Oct. 21; also of note, Lorden had a 12-yard TD catch in the season opener vs. Maine, a 16-yard score at Stony SINGLE-GAME SUPERLATIVES 100+ Rushing Yards Most recent Oct. 21, 2017: Chatman (187) & Gallagher (104) DeUnte Chatman (2x) 187 vs. Towson (Oct. 21, 2017) 107 at Holy Cross (Sept. 16, 2017) Brandon Gallaher (1x) 104 vs. Towson (Oct. 21, 2017) 100+ Receiving Yards Most recent Nov. 4, 2017: Neil O Connor, 193 at William & Mary Neil O Connor (2017-5x... Furthermor, Turner has become the Wildcats top kickoff returner with 20 for 328 yards (16.4 per return). ADD ANOTHER BLOCKER TO THE LINE: Sophomore Justin Malone- Woods leads the tight end group with eight catches for 133 yards, and that includes a career-long 45-yard reception against Bryant (Sept. 30) and an 11-yard TD catch vs. Elon. No other tight end had a reception this season until junior John DiCaro with two for 45 yards and a TD at William & Mary. THE LEAD BLOCKERS: On the offensive line, four Wildcats have started every game. Two returning starters senior Will McInerny and junior Dayne Herron have helped build a cohesive unit that lost three starters. Herron has moved from right tackle to left tackle and McInerny is at right tackle on the depth chart. Between Herron and McInerny on the depth chart, senior Jake Kennedy is at center, and redshirt freshmen Jack Carroll is lined up at left guard. Redshirt freshman Matt Mascia has started seven games, including each University of New Hampshire Football 7

8 of the last six, at right guard. Sophomore Nick Velte was the starting right guard on opening day and, after being sidelined for two games, returned to the starting lineup Sept. 23 vs. URI; he has come off the bench two of the past five games. Herron, McInerny and Kennedy bring the most size and experience to the group. McInerny, 6-foot-7 and 305 pounds, and Herron, 6-foot-4 and 307, started last season. Kennedy, 6-foot-3 and 309 pounds, was named one of the team s captains. IN THE TRENCHES: One of the goals for UNH s defense a year ago was to shore up its efforts against the run. Thanks in large part to the men in the middle first-time starters Rick Holt and Ryan Sosnak the Wildcats were able to do that. Holt, 6-foot-4 and 294 pounds and now a senior, and Sosnak, 6-foot-2 and 288 pounds and a junior, anchor the defensive line from their tackle spots again. Holt ranks second on the team in tackles with 55 ( ) and recorded his 100th career tackle with the last of his five stops at William & Mary (Nov. 4). Holt tallied a game- and career-high 10 tackles at James Madison (Oct. 28). He is tied ofr the team lead in sacks (5.5) and is third in tackles for loss (8.0). Holt s other numbers include a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and three pass breakups. He has recorded at least one stop behind the line of scrimmage in 8 of 10 games with a sack in 6 of 10. He tallied five solo tackles against Maine, Georgia Southern and Towson. Sosnak has 21 tackles (with 3.5 tackles for loss) and has made an impact with two blocked field goal attempts, four pass breakups and a forced fumble. At defensive end, juniors Jae Wuan Horton and Kyle Reisert were penciled in as the starters at defensive end in the preseason. Horton, who was selected CAA Football co-defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 11, ranks second among D-linemen in tackles with 40, and that number includes 8.5 tackles-for-loss with 5.5 sacks to match Holt s teamleading tally. Reisert, on the other hand, was injured near the end of preseason and made his season debut Sept. 30 against Bryant. In six games, he has recorded 10 tackles with a season high of six at James Madison (Oct. 28); Reisert was injured again during the Elon game. Sophomore Josh Kania stepped into the starting lineup in Reisert s absence. Kania was also injured, however, and has missed 7 of the last 8 games, including four straight. Redshirt freshman Brian Carter moved into the starting lineup in games against Holy Cross and Rhode Island. Kania has 12 total tackles, one of which was made behind the line of scrimmage. He has two pass breakups. Carter has seen significant playing time and made 15 tackles with 2.5 tackles-for-loss and one fumble recovery. Classmate Jacob Bradshaw has also seen playing time in the rotation and has been credited with five stops (4-1-5), including a sack. DEAN OF THE LINEBACKERS: Sophomore Quinlen Dean has been UNH s leading tackler in 7 of 10 games, including a personal-best 11 tackles (6-5-11) vs. Bryant; Dean matched that 11 stops (8-3-11) at Stony Brook (Oct. 14). He has finished with double-digit tackles three times; that includes a game-high 10 at top-ranked James Madison. Dean was credited with nine tackles back-to-back weeks against Georgia Southern and Holy Cross. Overall, he has made 86 stops and his 60 solo tackles are more than all other Wildcats have total tackles. Dean s other stats include 7.5 tackles for loss, including two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble. Dean s interception in the last minute of the game in week 1 sealed UNH s victory against Maine in the Thursday Night Throwdown at Wildcat Stadium. Jared Kuehl, one of two projected starters heading into the 2017 season, was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week following his six-tackle effort that included two tackles for loss, one of which was a sack, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup. In six games, he has 34 tackles and that includes a team-high 9.0 tackles for loss. His other stats include three sacks, one fumble recovery and two pass breakups. Kuehl returned to action Oct. 21 vs. Towson after missing four consecutive games; he recorded three tackles vs. the Tigers and followed that with seven stops, including 3.5 behind the line of scrimmage, at JMU. Kuehl made another seven tackles at William & Mary. WILDCAT SPORTS RADIO NETWORK: Wildcat Sports Properties, a property of Learfield Sports, is the multimedia rights holder for UNH Athletics. He has 29 tackles ( ), including 6.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery. Balsamo made a season-high seven tackles (4-3-7) at Stony Brook on Oct. 14. Sophomore Cameron Brusko earned the start Sept. 23 vs. URI and has come off the bench the other seven games. He s been credited with five tackles this season. ANTI-AIR DEFENSE: The oxymoron of young and experienced describes UNH s defensive backfield, where both Pop Lacey and Prince Smith, Jr. thrived as true freshmen in 2016; Smith, Jr. was named the CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year and Lacey was All-CAA Third Team. Lacey, who led last year s squad in tackles, has missed the past four games. His numbers include 34 tackles ( ), an interception in the Homecoming win vs. URI and has three pass breakups. Smith, Jr. made a career-high seven tackles against Maine and matched that in back-to-back games against William & Mary and Elon. He has 44 total in 10 games to climb to fourth on the squad, and he has also recorded seven pass breakups, which ranks second on the team. Alonzo Addae got the start in place of Smith, Jr. Sept. 30 against Bryant. Fellow sophomores Rick Ellison and Isiah Perkins also start in the secondary. Ellison, with 10 starts at strong safety, ranks third on the tackles leaderboard with 53 ( ); he made a career-high 12 tackles vs. Towson on Oct. 21. Ellison s other numbers include two interceptions and a pass breakup; he had a 50-yard pick-six vs. Bryant the only score by UNH s defense this season. Perkins, with 10 starts at cornerback, has three interceptions and eight pass breakups to lead UNH in both stats. In the Sept. 23 game against Rhode Island, Perkins ended consecutive Rams fourth quarter possessions with an INT to preserve New Hampshire s lead. He has 23 tackles and matched his career high of seven tackles with at Stony Brook. Perkins tallied six University of New Hampshire Football 8

9 tackles and two pass breakups vs. nationally-ranked Elon. Senior captain D Andre Drummond-Mayrie is the fifth starter in UNH s backfield; he moved from whip safety to free safety Oct. 21 vs. Towson because of Lacey s injury; that s a breakdown of six starts at WS and four at FS. Drummond-Mayrie is fifth on the squad in tackles with 43 ( ); he recorded a career-high 12 tackles against Bryant. (Sept. 30). His other numbers include four tackles for loss, two sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup. Redshirt freshman cornerback Alonzo Addae has seen significant playing time including a start vs. Bryant and has 20 tackles; he made a career-high five stops in that start against the Bulldogs. Addae has also been credited with five pass breakups. Classmate Evan Horn has also been a regular part of the rotation. He made his first career start Oct. 21 vs. Towson at whip safety and remained there the subsequent three games. Horn has 27 tackles, including a personal high of eight at top-ranked James Madison; he also had an INT in the end zone in the closing minute at JMU to thwart the Dukes scoring threat. Horn pulled in his first career interception two weeks earlier at Stony Brook (Oct. 14). KICKING THE BALL AROUND: Seniors Morgan Ellman and Max Pedinoff fill the kicking duties on kickoffs, placekicks and punts. Overall, UNH has made 26 of 28 PATs and 6 of 9 field goal attempts with an average of 39.4 yards per punt. Ellman been the primary kickoff kicker and has split duties as the placekicker on PATs and field goals. He has made 12 of 13 PATs and 2 of 3 field goals 30-yard field goal made and 38-yarder missed, both against Bryant, and a season-long 39-yarder at Stony Brook. Pedinoff has been the primary punter and has split time with Ellman as the placekicker. Pedinoff has made 4 of 6 field goal attempts the 26-yard field goal vs. Maine was the first FG of his career and he is 14-for-15 in PATs. Pedinoff had his first career two-field goal game at Stony Brook with makes of 41 and 30 yards. His 42-yard attempt at James Madison had plenty of leg but sailed wide right. Pedinoff both made and missed 31-yard attempts vs. Elon. Pedinoff has 47 punts with an average of 39.4, including a career long of 57 at Holy Cross. Sophomore Drew Sanborn has punted eight times with an average of 34.6 yards and a long of 45 at Holy Cross. He has also kicked off once. BACK TO RECEIVE: A number of Wildcats have lined up deep to return kickoffs this season. True freshman C.J. Turner has a team-high 20 kickoff returns for 328 yards (16.4/return); Turner had eight kickoff returns Oct. 14 at Stony Brook. Neil O Connor is next with six returns for 104 yards (17.3/return). Donald Goodrich is averaging 20.3 yards per return (3-61). UNH sends redshirt freshman Evan Horn back to return punts. He has 20 returns for 72 yards (3.6/return) with a long of 17 (at James Madison). WELCOME TO THE DUNGEON: Since the start of the 2007 season, UNH has a 56-8 record at home for an.875 win percentage. New Hampshire is 5-0 in The Dungeon this season and, dating back to last year, has won six consecutive home games. The Wildcats won 12 consecutive home games spanning the seasons and surpassed that with 14 straight wins in The Dungeon in the seasons; seven of those 14 victories were against nationally-ranked teams. In 2016, UNH toppled three nationally-ranked teams in The Dungeon. WILDCAT STADIUM A NEW ERA OF UNH FOOTBALL: The inaugural season at Wildcat Stadium saw the program establish records for the highest single-game attendance (21,943; Oct. 1; that number was surpassed this year), highest opening game attendance (13,242; Sept. 10; that number was surpassed this year), highest regular-season average attendance (11,108) and highest overall average attendance (9,630). A new era of UNH football began Saturday, Sept , when New Hampshire played its inaugural game at Wildcat Stadium against College of the Holy Cross and prevailed in front of 13,242 spectators. Wildcat Stadium was built on the same site as its predecessor, Cowell Stadium, which was erected in The stands on the east side, which had served as the home bench, remain intact and are now the visitor s section. The new structure including the Service Credit Union Victory Club, club seats, press box, coaches boxes, general admission seating, 603 Eatery concession stand and souvenir store was erected on the west side and will be the home bench. O CONNOR IS GOLDEN... AGAIN: Junior wide receiver Neil O Connor was honored with the New England Football Writers Gold Helmet on Oct. 4. He caught seven passes for 154 yards and a career-high three TDs to help lead UNH to a victory against Bryant University at Wildcat Stadium on Sept. 30. He scored the team s last three touchdowns of the game to secure the win. O Connor received his first Gold Helmet award Sept. 13 after recording 11 catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns to help lead UNH to a victory against Georgia Southern University (at UAB s Legion Field) on Sept. 9. KNIGHT IS GOLDEN AND WINS CAA AWARD: Junior quarterback Trevor Knight was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday and New England Football Writers Gold Helmet recipient Wednesday. Knight completed 25 of 35 passes for 406 yards and a career-high tying four touchdowns in UNH s victory at College of William & Mary on Nov. 4. This is the third Gold Helmet award of the 2017 season for UNH. Junior wide receiver Neil O Connor was honored Sept. 13 and Oct. 4. It was the second career 400-yard effort for Knight, who threw the TD s to four different receivers and moved into 10th place on UNH s career passing list (4,285 yards). Knight led the Cats to touchdown drives of 75, 99 and 90 yards on their first three possessions of the game to build a 21-7 lead midway through the second quarter. At that point, he completed 10 of 13 passes for 207 yards and also had one rush for 12 yards. UNH SLAYS SIXTH FBS SCHOOL: New Hampshire recorded its sixth victory against an FBS opponent when the Wildcats defeated Georgia Southern University, 22-12, on Sept. 9 at the University of Alabama Birmingham s Legion Field. UNH won five straight games against that competition spanning the seasons. The five consecutive wins were against Rutgers (35-24; 2004), Northwestern (34-17; 2006), Marshall (48-35; 2007), Army (28-10; 2008) and Ball State (23-16; 2009). The Cats lost seven consecutive FBS matchups between the Ball State and Georgia Southern victories. WILDCATS WIN AT WILLIAM & MARY: New Hampshire scored a touchdown on its first three possessions of the game 75, 99 and 90 yards to build a 21-7 lead en route to a victory at William & Mary (Nov. 4). It was the Wildcats first win at Zable Stadium since UNH recorded a season-high 511 yards of total offense (406 passing,105 rushing). The Cats punted just one time, a season low. DOWNFIELD GAINS: The UNH offense recorded five pass plays of 20+ yards at William & Mary. Three of those plays were Trevor Knight to Neil O Connor connections of 48 (TD), 37 and 54 yards. Knight also had a gamehigh completion of 54 yards to John DiCaro and a 23-yarder to Malik Love. HIGHLIGHTS APLENTY IN VIRGINIA: Trevor Knight completed 25 of 35 passes (71.4%) for 406 yards and four touchdowns Nov. 4 at William & Mary. Neil O Connor caught seven passes for 192 yards and one TD all in the first three quarters. Senior running back Donald Goodrich recorded his first career touchdown catch on a four-yard pass from Knight on the opening play of the second quarter. Junior tight end John DiCaro pulled in his first career catch, a 43-yard rumble down the right sideline, to set up Goodrich s score. DiCaro finished with two catches for 45 yards. Sophomore cornerback Prince Smith, Jr. recorded his first interception of the season. UNH HANGS TOUGH VS. #1 JAMES MADISON: New Hampshire s defense shut out James Madison in 3 of 4 quarters and limited the Dukes to 130 yards less than their season average, but JMU recorded a 21-0 victory Oct. 28 at Bridgeforth Stadium. UNH s defense blanked James Madison in the first, third and fourth quarters. The Dukes led 14-0 at halftime and extended that margin with a pick-six early in the third quarter.
