Introduction Jerry Petitgoue has coached at Cuba City High School in Wisconsin for the past 7 years. He has coached high school basketball for the past years. He has won 76 games and lost 90. He is most proud of the fact that in 7 out of the last 8 years he has won or more games. He coaches at a school with 00 students. He believes in set plays. He believes they are a supplement to your main offense. Set plays are used to get big buckets after a timeout, start of a quarter, or big part of the game. Man to Man Plays The Greatest He calls this the greatest because he thinks every team should have this play in their arsenal. He has called it at least once in every game for the past 7 years. Entry Lob Shuffle Cut Double Down Ball
Hold Action He runs this out of a -out set. Flex Cut / Shuffle Duck In Post Seal and exchange to allow entry pass. sets back screen for. Screener comes back to ball on the switch. needs to empty out. Drag dribble post feed. Big Man Dunk He runs this out of a -out set. Great inside look for and nice Lob for. UCLA Cut High Low Decoy Ball Fake will v-cut to get open. can pop and rescreen if necessary. Lob Ball is reversed as decoy. ball fakes to in corner to set up lob. After the back screen, can pop for possible perimeter look.
Go Behind Main focus is getting the ball inside. Handoff Post Up High Low Shuffle Cut Back Screen Big High Low Big Split the Post One of his favorites. Runs from a -out set. First option is actually a back door cut by if overplayed. Lay-in Reversal + Shuffle Cut Double Down Ball Could start with setting a screen for who would then get double stagger on basket cut and then be the shooter for the double down. should follow the ball as it is reversed to take away help defense on the shuffle cut.
Pocket Run out of a box set. Great post look for a strong wing player or mismatch on the wing. Good perimeter look for a wing shooter a well. can use ball screen from to reverse the ball as alternative. Entry Ball Reversal Cross Screen / Down Screen Double Run out of a box set. One quick look down low then double down for shooter. Cross Screen Double Down Ball Tight Run out of a box set. Cross Screen Down Screen Short Curl or ball
Triple Point guard gets a triple screen. takes a comfort dribble to get the best passing angle. Entry Triple Screen Notes by Scott Bullock Point Desperation Run out of - low set. Best option is # on a misdirection double screen. Option # is actually a decoy for the double screen on the left side of the floor. Triple Screen Double Screen Flex Run out of -- set Entry Flex Screen Double Down
Open Run out of - low set to isolate the point guard. Bigs screen down. Wings pop to the corners. Isolation / Down Screens Zone Plays Overload Entry Reversal Ball Push the ball to one side of the floor. Go behind to retrieve. dribbles at top of zone to commit them to D. on wing will likely force bottom of zone to come out and cover.
Three Point Overload All zones are - once the ball goes to the corner. This play should work against any zone. Notes by Scott Bullock Corner Entry Cut and Fill Corner Ball Key here is good ball fake to middle by. can also show hands and call for ball. Red Zone Play looks inside to pick the zone. Entry Skip Pass Pin and Seal pops high to screen the weak side for a skip pass. As skip pass is thrown holds to ensure successful pass but releases as soon as he can to screen middle of zone. pins the middle of the zone and opens up to strong size post. feeds. may need a dribble.
Double or Triple Notes by Scott Bullock
