2 TEAM NOTES & NUMBERS SEASON SUMMARY Known only as consistent underachievers prior to 1998, the Kings participation in the 2004 postseason marks the club's sixth straight year in the NBA Playoffs. With their 55 wins this season, the team has tallied 55 or more victories in each of the last four campaigns. In fact, since late April of 1998, the Kings are the only NBA team to not fall below the.500 mark. Never one of lady luck's favorite NBA franchises, the Kings rolled snake eyes once again this season on the injury front, forcing Head Coach Rick Adelman to juggle some hefty losses. Once thought to return around the New Year, Chris Webber's rehabilitation from offseason knee surgery kept the All-Star forward shelved for 59 games (eight due to NBA suspension). He finally returned on March 2nd vs. the L.A. Clippers. Just when it appeared the club might dress 12 healthy players, 2003 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Bobby Jackson suffered an abdominal strain that forced him out of action for 29 games. The addition of All-Star center Brad Miller, veteran sharpshooter Anthony Peeler, and rookie surprise Darius Songaila helped shoulder the load. Sacramento stuck with its bread and butter statistically in , ranking high in the NBA in several offensive categories, including second in scoring (102.8 ppg), first in FG% (.462), first in 3pt FG% (.401), second in FT% (.795), and first in assists (26.2). Individually, Peja Stojakovic finished second in scoring (24.2 ppg) and led the NBA in free throw shooting (.927) and Anthony Peeler led the league in three-point field goal accuracy (.482). The Kings were well represented at the All-Star game held in Los Angeles. One year after making his first All-Star appearance as a Pacer, Brad Miller was named to the squad as a Western Conference reserve. Peja Stojakovic also made his third All-Star appearance as a reserve and nearly won his third consecutive CALL ATT Shootout, losing to Denver's Voshon Lenard in the final round. The Kings achieved a variety of individual accomplishments this season, most notably Rick Adelman winning his 296th game as Head Coach of the Kings, surpassing Les Harrison for most victories in franchise history with a win at Indiana on March 19th. A week later, Adelman registered his 300th win in Sacramento behind a victory at Houston on April 4th. Adelman also was named NBA Head Coach of the Month for January, the second time in his career he received the honor. Peja Stojakovic earned his first career Player of the Month award for his play in November. Peja also added Player of the Week accolades (3/17-3/23). Sacramento remained a difficult team to defeat at ARCO Arena in 03-04, tallying the second most home wins with 34. The team also won 21 games on the road, joining the San Antonio Spurs as the only other NBA team to register 20+ road wins the last four seasons ( ). The season concluded with the Kings as the fourth seed in the 2004 Playoffs. KING OF COACHING: With the win on 3/19 at Indiana, Kings Head Coach Rick Adelman attained his 296th coaching victory with the Kings, passing Les Harrison s franchise record of 295 wins. Harrison coached the Kings for seven seasons ( ) when the franchise was known as the Rochester Royals. Adelman surpassed Harrison in just his sixth season with the Kings ( present). He showed little signs of rust, posting a team-high 26 points (12-18 FG, 2-4 FT), a game-high 12 rebounds, four assists, and one steal in 30 minutes. Webber had not played since Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals at Dallas (5/8/03) when he was forced to leave the game with 2:58 left in the third quarter after injuring his left knee. He underwent surgery on 6/10/03 to repair a torn meniscus and to remove a piece of the outside knee cartilage and smooth and prepare an articular cartilage defect for healing. In , Webber averaged 23.0 ppg (.461 FG%,.238 3pt%,.607 FT%), 10.5 rpg, a career-high 5.4 apg, 1.58 spg, 1.31 bpg, and 39.1 mpg in starting all 67 games he played. STEPPING IN FOR MILLER: With the absence of Brad Miller (sprained right foot), Darius Songaila made the most of his opportunity. Starting in seven games, Songaila (pronounced sun-guy-la) recorded double-doubles in three games and scored double-figures in five of the seven contests. Songaila averaged 11.9 ppg (.556 FG%,.591 FT%), 7.3 rpg, 1.6 apg, and 1.0 spg in the seven starts. In his first career NBA start, the rookie out of Wake Forest tallied a career-best 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and 1-of-2 from the charity stripe. Songaila was drafted by the Celtics in the second round (#50 overall) of the 2002 NBA Draft. He played last season in Russia before being traded by Boston to Sacramento for a second-round selections in the 2003 and 2005 NBA Drafts. 64

3 TEAM NOTES & NUMBERS RODNEY BUFORD SIGNED TO A SECOND 10-DAY CONTRACT: Rodney Buford was signed to a second 10-day contract on 3/2. Buford, in his second stint with the Kings this season, signed the first 10-day contract on 2/21. Buford was playing for the Dakota Wizards of the Continental Basketball Association, averaging 26.3 points (.532 FG%,.429 3pt%,.938 FT%), 7.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.25 steals a game before the call-up. Buford averaged 1.7 ppg (.294 FG%, 0-1 3pt, 0-2 FT), 0.3 rpg, 0.5 apg, and 5.8 mpg in six games off the bench with the Kings earlier this season. AP FOR THREE: Anthony Peeler shot.482 from beyond the three-point arc, leading the league in three-point field goal percentage. Peeler becomes the first King to lead the NBA in three-point field goal percentage since Jim Les (.461 3pt%) accomplished the feat during the season. MISSING STARS: The Kings began this season without one of their key players for the third straight season. Last season the Kings started the campaign without Mike Bibby, who missed the first 27 games due to surgery on his left foot. Also, Sacramento played the first two games without starting guard Doug Christie due to a league suspension. Sacramento missed Webber for the first 20 games of the regular season after he suffered a sprained left ankle in a preseason game. NATIONAL EXPOSURE: During the regular season, the Kings were featured on national television 25 times (including the October 24 preseason game at L.A. Lakers) and were in those games (ESPN - 6-4, TNT - 5-4, ABC - 3-2). After the telecast on 4/11 versus the Lakers (ABC), Sacramento has appeared on national television 180 times since 1999; this after the team has appeared on national TV a total of 13 times in the previous 13 seasons. MILLER TIME: Acquired during the off-season in a three-way deal with Indiana and San Antonio, Brad Miller has already carved a niche in the team. During the regular season, Miller averaged 14.3 points (3rd on team), 10.3 rebounds (1st), 4.3 assists (3rd) and 1.2 (1st) blocks a game in 71 games (started 53). Four times this season Miller has grabbed a career-high 17 boards - at Seattle (1/29), at Dallas (1/25), at Seattle (1/7), and versus Memphis (12/23). Versus Toronto (11/14), he matched his career-high in blocks (4). In the 11/16 game versus Golden State, Miller tallied 11 points, nine rebounds, and a career-high 11 assists. WINNING MONTHS: Including March, the Kings have had a winning record in 27 consecutive months dating back to the season. This is the most consecutive winning months in franchise history and is now the franchise mark for most consecutive months without a losing record. The last time the Kings did not have a winning record in a month was in April 2000 when the team posted a 3-8 record. Prior to the current streak, the longest monthly winning streak was 11 (November 1948 October 1950). In franchise history, the Kings have had 19 straight months without a losing record (January 1963 to January 1966). During the 19 months, there were four months in which the team had a.500 record.
