Summer Sports/Enrichment Programs: REFUND POLICY: A full refund will be made if the class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or the class fills before your registration is received. If you withdraw from a course up to three full working days in advance of its starting date, you will receive a full refund minus a $10 processing fee NO REFUND if you cancel on the day the class begins NO REFUNDS will be made after the class has started, regardless of attendance NOTES: The grades indicated for each camp reflect the school year. Summer Enrichment Camps have a minimum number of participants needed to run the camp as well as a maximum number of participants. T-shirts are not included in Enrichment Camps. There are no refunds for Science Camps. 1
2 Summer Enrichment Camps QUESTIONS on Summer ENRICHMENT Camps? Summer Theatre Day Camp (Grades 3-7) Do you have an interest or passion for acting? Join others in discovering the fun in role-playing, improvising, rehearsing, costuming and performing. Date and time: 5 days August (M-F) from 9 a.m. noon o Performance for Friends and Families at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 16 Fee for students: $80 Location: Highlands Middle School/Café (4645 Chandy Dr NE) Meet the Instructor: Rosanne Steffens is an Art Teacher at Godfrey Elementary. She has been teaching theatre camp to kids from age 7 to 19 since She worked with the theatre education programs at GR Civic Theatre, Byron Center and Kenowa Hills Performing Art Center. Rosanne has directed plays for Northview HS since She has extensive experience both onstage and backstage as an actress, director, set designer and stage manager. Food Science Fun (Grades K-3) Learn about the chemistry behind some of your favorite foods. In this program, students get to extract the iron out of breakfast cereal and grape juice. Baking soda is used to inject air bubbles in your cake. A lemon transforms into a battery. And pennies look brand new after a bath in taco sauce! The math theme of the week is measurement! Students may want to bring a small snack and water bottle. Director: Mind Boggle Science Camps Camp Dates: June (M-Th) Cost: $80.00 Location: North Oakview (Art Room #603) 4300 Costa NE Time: 9:00am - Noon Super Sonic Science of Sound (Grades K-3) A dog may not be able to talk, but he has hearing fit for a superhero! Faster than the speed of sound, and able to calculate wavelength and frequency in a single day, get ready for Super Sonic Science! Kids get a kick out of learning about the fundamental properties of sound waves in this fun camp. The math theme of the week is math games and puzzles! Students may want to bring a small snack and water bottle. The camp provides an introduction to basic offensive and defensive fundamentals. Daily sessions will include instruction, demonstration, and the practice of proper techniques for shooting, passing, dribbling, and defending the basketball. The camp features contests involving the execution of the learned fundamentals. Offensive and defensive team concepts will be introduced in which campers will be able to practice in scrimmage situations. Director: Trevor Chalmers, Northview Head Varsity Basketball Coach Camp Dates: Tuesday, June 18 Thursday, June 20 Time: 10:30 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Cost: $35 (price includes one camp T-shirt) Location: Crossroads Gym (4400 Ambrose NE) Boys Basketball Summer Camp (Grades 7-9) This camp is designed to instruct Northview basketball players on the philosophy of our basketball program. Camp attendees will work on the fundamental skills of basketball; learn the offensive and defensive philosophy of the program; practice individual and group drills; and compete in structured scrimmages and contests. The camp provides an introduction and reinforcement for more advanced campers of the basic offensive and defensive fundamentals. Daily sessions include instruction, demonstrations, and the practice of proper techniques for shooting, dribbling, passing, defensive stance & shuffling, guarding the ball, and defending away from the ball. The camp features contests involving the execution of the learned fundamentals. Offensive and defensive philosophies and team concepts will be introduced in which campers will be able to practice in scrimmage situations. 5 Summer Sports Camps QUESTIONS on Summer SPORTS Camps? Soccer Summer Camps Co-ed Soccer Summer Camp (Grades 1-6) This program teaches fundamental soccer skills to young soccer players. Players will learn proper techniques of dribbling, shooting, passing and defending. Player s age and ability will be used to separate players into appropriate developmental groups. Director: Mark VanSlooten, Northview Head Varsity Soccer Coach Camp Dates: Monday, June 10 Thursday, June 13 Cost: $40 per camp (Northview enrolled students)(price includes one camp T-shirt) $60 per camp (Non-Northview students) (price includes one camp T-shirt) Location: NHS Stadium Soccer Field (4451 Hunsberger NE) Time: 5:30 7:00 p.m. Girls Only Soccer Summer Camp (Grades 7-12) Girls who are interested in improving their individual skills and tactical sense of the game should plan to attend this camp. Individual and team tactics will be the focus throughout the week. Players will be divided into ability levels for intermediate and advance development. Director: Mark VanSlooten, Northview Head Varsity Soccer Coach Camp Dates: Monday, July 15 Thursday, July 18 Cost: $50 per camp (Northview enrolled students)(price includes one camp T-shirt) $70 per camp (Non-Northview students) (price includes one camp T-shirt) Location: NHS Stadium Soccer Field (4451 Hunsberger NE) Time: 5:30 7:00 p.m. Boys High School Soccer Summer Camp (Grades 7-12) Boys Soccer Camp this year will feature ball skills training, agility drills, shooting, passing, defending and dribbling techniques. Also, a 3V3 Tournament on the final day. Winners will receive championship T-shirts. 6 Summer Sports Camps QUESTIONS on Summer SPORTS Camps? Tennis Summer Camps *All below camp prices include a Northview Summer Tennis T-shirt (one t-shirt per summer). Students attending four weeks of camp will earn a MEDAL. Students attending six weeks of camp will earn a TROPHY. Coach: Matt Howe & Seth Howe & Area College/HS Players Times: Monday Thursday rain days can be made up at later camps. Intermediate/Advanced Players (suggested grades 4-9): 9:45am-11:30am 30 minutes of instruction plus drills, match play, games, & conditioning. Includes free optional membership into Northview s intercity competitive tennis team which plays other area teams in scheduled matches. A schedule of matches will be handed out at camp. Matches are optional you simply need to inform the coaches you desire to play! Camp Fee: $45 per camp for Northview enrolled students. $55 per camp for non-northview students. UNLIMITED OPTION: Come any day, any week, all summer long! $225 for Northview enrolled students $275 for non-northview students Beginner/Rookies (suggested grades K-3): 10:30am-11:30am A fun tennis experience working on hand/eye coordination, listening skills, teamwork, and basic tennis fundamentals. A great way to build love of the game! Making exercise fun under the sun. Camp Fee: $35 per camp for Northview enrolled students. $45 per camp for non-northview students. Boys Lacrosse Camp (Grades 3-12) This camp is designed to instruct current and future lacrosse players in the philosophy of our lacrosse program. Camp attendees will work on the fundamental skills of lacrosse, learn offensive and defensive philosophies and practice in individual and group drills. At a minimum, a lacrosse stick is required to attend this camp. Those without full equipment will receive basic skill training and introduction to lacrosse. Volleyball Summer Camps Upper-Elementary Volleyball Summer Camp (Grades 3-6) This program is designed for beginner players interested in learning all the fundamental skills of the game. Hitting, setting and blocking will be introduced with emphasis placed on passing, serving, court communication and developing an understanding of the basic rules and philosophies of the game. Director: Joseph Murray, Northview Head Varsity Volleyball Coach Camp Dates: Monday, July 8 Thursday, July 11 Time: 9:00 10:00 a.m. Cost: $30 (price includes one camp T-shirt) Location: Crossroads Middle School/Gym (4400 Ambrose NE) Intermediate-Level Volleyball Summer Camp (Grades 7-8) This program is designed for beginner to intermediate players interested in learning and/or improving on all the fundamental skills of the game. Technical training in setting, passing, hitting, serving along with live game play will be introduced and practiced daily. Offensive and defensive philosophies of the middle school and high school program will be introduced and emphasized.
