4 Presbyterian College Women s Basketball Notes of Interest Storey Named Preseason All-Conference - Senior PG Cortney Storey has been named to Big South Preseason All-Conference team. She was the Freshman of the Year, Big South Honorable Mention and Big South Second Team honoree. - Storey is the first preseason honoree since Karlee Taylor in Storey and Miles Nearing 1,000 - Seniors Cortney Storey and Janie Miles both enter their senior campaigns with a reasonable shot of surpassing 1,000 career points. Storey sits at 997 and Miles now has Storey has averaged 15.3 points, 5.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game this season. With these averages she sits at 997 points, 388 assists and 170 steals on her way to 1,000, 400, and 200 respectively for her career. - Miles sits at 860 career points heading into the North Carolina Central game. Blue Hose Go for 10+ Again - PC enters this season with three straight 10+ win Big South campaigns. The Blue Hose have achieved that feat four of the last five seasons overall. - Overall they have won 10+ conference games in 13 of the last 30 seasons with nine coming as members of the South Atlantic Conference and four in the Big South. Storey off to Hot Start - Cortney Storey was named the Big South Player of the Week each of the first two weeks this season. - In week one she averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals in two games versus San Diego State and #7 UCLA, this performance earned her first player of the week honor. - In week two Storey average 20.5 points, 6.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in two games versus USC Upstate and Chattanooga. She would tie her own personal career high and PC Division I record with 27 points versus Upstate. These performances garnered her second player of the week honor. - The Blue Hose grab 25.5 rebounds, 11.8 assists, 8.6 steals and 1.6 blocks per game this season. - When PC scored 83 points at USC Upstate it was the most points scored in a game since the Truett-McConnel game on December 16, Janie Miles Heating Up - Miles averages 9.1 points per game this season, 68 of her 73 points in eight games have come in her five double figure scoring games versus USC Upstate, Chattanooga, Duke, Belmont and North Carolina. All five of these games have been in the last six overall points in two games versus USC Upstate and Chattanooga are her second highest scoring two game stretch in her career. She had 35 over two games in December of her freshman season versus North Carolina Central and Campbell. Career Days - Freshman Mattie Kennedy tallied a career high 13 points on a career high three made three-pointers versus Kennesaw State on Tuesday night. - Sophomore Riley Hemm also tied her career high in made three-pointers with two in one minute played versus the Owls. - Redshirt Sophomore Ericka Blackwell-Boyden grabbed a career high six rebounds in the Kennesaw State (11/21) contest. She then added a career high three steals versus North Carolina (12/5). - Freshman Briley Buckner would add a career day against Duke as she set game highs in points (11), made shots (4), attempts (8), three-point makes (2), three point attempts (4), rebounds (5) and assists (2). Blue Hose Versus Eagles - PC hosts North Carolina Central, this is the ninth consecutive season that the two teams have played. PC leads the series 5-3 overall and have won three in a row. The Blue Hose defeated the Eagles last season. - Storey recorded her third 20-point effort of the season against North Carolina, she also tallied six assists for her sixth straight game recording four or more assists. On the season she averages 15.3 points, 5.3 assists and 1.1 steals this season. Blue Hose Offensive Notes - PC is averaging 53.0 points with a 35.1 percent shooting average this season with a 28.3 percent three-point average. 4

5 Todd Steelman Head Coach Second Season John Brown 89, UNC Todd Steelman was named Presbyterian College s seventh women s basketball head coach on April 27, 2016, and is entering his second year in In his first year at PC, Steelman coached his team to a overall record, including a 10-8 mark in Big South Conference play, and the program s second appearance in the Big South Championship Semifinals. The year saw three players named to the Preseason All-Conference Second Team, three Player of the Week honors, an All-Tournament Team selection, an All-Conference Second Team honoree, and the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Steelman earned his first win as a Head Coach with a final at UNC Greensboro on December 15. The Blue Hose defeated Longwood on January 3 for Steelman s first conference win. Steelman came to PC from the University of Maine, where he spent four seasons as associate head coach focusing on working with the Maine posts as well as all aspects of game planning and film breakdown. Steelman was the team s community relations manager with a focus on engaging the team s outreach and involvement with community service projects. Steelman joined the Black Bears after spending his previous 10 years as an associate and assistant coach at the Division I level. Prior to Maine, Steelman was the associate head coach at Ball State from where he was involved in all aspects of the program including the coordination of his defensive philosophy, directing the scouting aspects of the program, recruiting, and developing the post-players. While at Ball State, Steelman was selected as one of the Top 25 Mid-Major Assistant Coaches by CollegeInsider.com. Before his time at Ball State, the Hickory, NC native spent five years as an assistant with Clemson. With the Tigers, Steelman worked with both the post and perimeter player development, broke down film, and played a large part in recruiting and evaluation of prospective student-athletes. Steelman began his Divison I coaching career as an assistant at Rice University from While at Rice, Steelman was again involved in all aspects of coaching an NCAA Divison I program. Along with his time as an associate and assistant coach, Steelman has directed many sports camps while also coaching various high school athletics from , including being named the 1998 and 2002 Triad Athletic Conference Varsity Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. Steelman was the Cresset Christian Academy Athletic Director in Durham, N.C. from and also from Steelman was the head varsity girls basketball coach at the Academy from and again from While coaching at Cresset Christian Academy, he managed the team to five-straight undefeated conference seasons and three-straight state championship game appearances. In between his time at Cresset Christian Academy, Steelman was the head varsity girls basketball coach at Kerr-Vance Academy where he guided the squad to the school s first ever conference championship and state tournament bid. A member of both the Women s Basketball Coaches Association and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Steelman graduated with a B.S. in Broadcasting from John Brown in 1989 before doing graduate studies work in Recreation Sports Administration at North Carolina from While at North Carolina, Steelman worked as a volunteer with the Hometown Hickory, N.C. 6 Presbyterian College Women s Basketball Megan Buckland Assistant Coach Second Season North Carolina 15 Buckland, a native of High Point, N.C., is entering her second year as an Assistant Coach at PC in She serves as the team s recruiting coordinator, handling correspondence with potential recruits and high school coaches. Buckland is responsible for the coordinating of future non-conference schedules. Additionally, she helps coordinate the team s camps and has completed her Master s Degree in Sport Administration from Liberty University. Buckland came to PC in June of 2016 after serving as the video coordinator for the North Carolina women s basketball program for a season. Buckland was a four-year member of the North Carolina Tar Heel women s basketball team, before graduating in May Buckland s career was limited by several injuries that decreased her playing time going back to her freshman season of When healthy, she was a reliable three-pointer shooter that converted nearly 33 percent of her career attempts. As a redshirt freshman during the season, Buckland averaged 5.7 points as the primary scoring option off the bench, playing in 35 games. She led the team and ranked 11th in the Atlantic Coast Conference that year after shooting 35.6 percent from beyond the three-point arc. She posted a career-high 19 points in a win over Georgia Tech and scored a team-high 17 points against Delaware in the NCAA Tournament. While in high school at Bishop McGuinnes she was part of three state championships. Jordan Hiatt Assistant Coach First Year Lenoir Rhyne 16 Jordan Hiatt is in her first season on Todd Steelman s staff as assistant coach. Previously at the University of Indianapolis, she was hired in July of Hiatt spent a year as a Graduate Assistant for the Indianapolis women s basketball team. While there she was responsible for many aspects of the program, including logistics, academics, camps, and recruiting. Hiatt was a four-year letterman at Lenoir-Rhyne where she served as a captain for her last two seasons. The team, ranked in the USA Top 25 in 2013, earned a bid to the NCAA tournament in 2013 and In 2014 Lenoir-Rhyne earned South Atlantic Co-Championship honors and hosted the NCAA Regional as a #1 seed. Hiatt earned All-Freshman Team honors in 2013, and was a member of the Dean s List from , and on the South Atlantic Conference Commissioners Honor Roll for all four years. Hiatt was a member of the Arktos Chapter of Mortar Board Senior Honor Society where she served at Vice President, a member of Chi Alpha Sigma Student-Athlete Honor Society where she served as Secretary, and was a women s basketball representative for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. A native of Mount Airy, N.C., Hiatt graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne in 2016 with a bachelor s degree in Sports Management and a minor in Business. 6
