KANSAS POSTGAME NOTES Jonathan Holmes reached double figures in scoring (17 points) for the 20th time this season and 38th time in his career (88 games). He led Texas in scoring for the seventh time this year. Prince Ibeh matched his season high with eight rebounds. He led Texas in rebounding for the third time this year. Cameron Ridley reached double figures in scoring (11 points) for the 15th time this season and 17th time in his career (60 games). All 11 of Ridley s points came in the second half. Isaiah Taylor s free-throw streak that spanned the last four games ended with a miss on his first attempt of the game. Taylor had made 17 consecutive free throws dating back to the first half against Oklahoma State (Feb. 11). He led Texas with five assists against two turnovers.

AGAIN With UT s home victory against West Virginia on Feb. 15, the Longhorns reached the 20-win mark for the 14th time in 16 seasons under coach Rick Barnes. UT had a school-record streak of 13 consecutive 20-win seasons snapped last year. Prior to that streak, the previous school mark for most consecutive 20- win seasons was four ( to ). The Longhorns have reached the 20-win plateau of total of 29 times in their 108 seasons of basketball. CONSISTENT SUCCESS IN THE BIG 12 Texas has reached the 10-win mark in Big 12 Conference play a total of 10 times in the first 15 seasons under Rick Barnes (the first 13 years featured 16-game league schedules). The Horns have recorded at least nine league wins in all but one of Barnes 16 seasons in Austin. HISTORICALLY SPEAKING Texas defeated four consecutive AP Top 25 opponents in four consecutive games for the first time in school history (No. 8 Iowa State on Jan. 18, No. 22 Kansas State on Jan. 21, at No. 24/23 Baylor on Jan. 25, No. 6 Kansas on Feb. 1). The Longhorns became just the second team in NCAA Division I since the season to record four straight wins against AP Top 25 teams in four consecutive games. Kansas accomplished the feat earlier this year, while North Carolina achieved the milestone in UT tied a school record by winning its fourth consecutive game against an AP Top 25 opponent. The Longhorns won four straight (in a five-game span) against AP Top 25 opponents during the season (No. 11 Texas A&M on Jan. 19, at No. 2 Kansas on Jan. 22, No. 11 Missouri on Jan. 29, at No. 16 Texas A&M on Jan. 31). When UT faced No. 6 Kansas last Saturday, it marked the first time in program history that the Longhorns had played four consecutive games against AP Top 25 foes. This marks the first time Texas has defeated two AP Top 10 opponents at home in a season since the Final Four year. UT defeated No. 9 Oklahoma State (78-65) on Feb. 1, Texas also defeated No. 5 Oklahoma (67-61) on Feb. 10, BLOCK PARTY Entering Wednesday s contest against Baylor (through games as of Feb. 23), UT is ranked 12th nationally in blocked shots per game (6.1 bpg). The Horns have recorded at least seven blocks in 15 of their first 27 games. UT registered a season-high 12 blocks in wins against UT Arlington (Nov. 29) and No. 6 Kansas (Feb. 1), just one shy of the single-game team record. On the season, UT has posted a advantage in blocked shots. Texas has had at least 11 blocks in a game three times this season (11 vs. Houston Baptist, 12 vs. UT Arlington and No. 6 Kansas).

This matched the mark of nine blocks against Kansas State in the second half on Feb. 3, CLEANING THE GLASS Texas has outrebounded 21 of its first 27 opponents this season while posting double-digit rebound advantages in 10 of its first 27 games. In the last 16 games, Ridley has improved more than 10 percent to 67.4 (64-95) compared to 55.6 (35-63) during the first 11 games of the season. Ibeh has increased his average to 61.9 (13-21) in Texas last 15 games. Texas is the only school in the country that can claim two different National Player of the Year winners in the last 11 seasons (T.J. Ford in 2003; Kevin Durant in 2007). Last season, the Horns averaged 14.7 turnovers per game and recorded a 391- to-500 assist-to-turnover ratio on the year. This season, Texas is averaging just 12.7 turnovers per contest and sports a 332-to-342 assist-to-turnover ratio. The Horns committed a season-low eight turnovers in their win against No. 8/10 Iowa State (Jan. 18). Since Barnes arrived in Austin, the Horns have held 260 of their 540 opponents to under 40% FG shooting. Texas sports a (.900) mark in the Barnes era when accomplishing the feat (16-0 mark this season). UT has held its first 27 opponents to an average of 70.1 ppg on 40.6 percent FG shooting. UT has held 16 of its first 27 opponents this year to under 40% FG shooting. Texas held Rice to a 29.1 field goal percentage (16-of-55), marking the lowest percentage it has held an opponent to this season. The Longhorns also held Rice to team season lows in points (44), field goals made (16-of-55) and FG percentage (.291).

5 Texas had a season-high 12 steals in its loss to BYU (Nov. 25). Against UTA (Nov. 29), the Horns rejected a season-high 12 shots (one shy of the team s single-game record). UT held West Virginia (Jan. 13) to just 16.0 (4-of-25) percent from beyond the arc, a season-low 3FG percentage for a Texas opponent. Texas limited Baylor (Jan. 25) to a season low in points (60) and to a 3-of-17 (.176) mark from three-point range. The 3 threepointers were the fewest made by a UT opponent this year. Texas 12 blocks against Kansas (Feb. 1) matched a season high (UTA, Nov. 29) and were one shy of the school single-game record (13, twice). It also tied the UT record for most blocks in a Big 12 game (fifth time in Big 12 play, last was Feb. 8, 2010 vs. No. 1 Kansas). Texas has had 10+ blocks three times this season. BALANCING THE ATTACK All 10 of Texas scholarship players reached double-digit scoring totals at least twice through the first 27 games this season. UT has had four players record double-figure scoring efforts in 14 games this year. Texas has had five players record double-figure scoring efforts in five games this year (vs. SFA, vs. BYU, vs. DePaul, at OSU, vs. West Virginia). Five different UT players have scored at least 20 points in a game this season (Javan Felix, Demarcus Holland, Jonathan Holmes, Cameron Ridley and Isaiah Taylor). With the win, UT improved to all-time in overtime games, including a record in road overtime contests. UT overcame a nine-point deficit (62-53) with 9:44 left against Mercer (Nov. 8), going on a run to close the game. The Horns also trailed South Alabama (Nov. 12) by 10 points (64-54) at the 11:51 mark, before closing the contest on a run. In the win against SFA (Nov. 15), UT faced a five-point deficit (40-35) with 16:31 left. Tied at at the 3:10 mark, the Horns closed the game with a 12-2 spurt. Texas trailed by nine points (60-51) with 8:43 left against UT Arlington (Nov. 29) before rallying for a 21-9 run to close out the contest. UT trailed by three (73-70) with 2:31 left in the second half at Temple (Dec. 7). The Horns rallied back to force overtime and pulled out an win. UT trailed with 14 seconds left in overtime, before Javan Felix knocked down a 3-pointer with eight seconds left that proved to be the game-winner. The Horns trailed by one (64-63) against Texas Tech (Jan. 11) with 1:19 left before Cameron Ridley knocked down the game-tying and game-winning free throws with 31 seconds remaining. In the win at TCU (Feb. 4), UT tralied by four (32-28) with 15:27 remaining in the second half. The Longhorns outscored the Horned Frogs down the stretch en route to a victory. LOOKING TO GET BACK TO THE BIG DANCE Last year, Texas had its streak of consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances snapped at 14. Prior to that, UT had advanced to the NCAA Tournament in each of Rick Barnes first 14 seasons in Austin ( ). Prior to the Barnes era, UT s previous mark for consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances was four (set twice). AN ELITE PROGRAM Texas has reached the NCAA Elite Eight twice in the last eight years and three times in the last 11 seasons. During the Barnes era, the Horns have made trips to the regional final in 2003 (beat Michigan State to advance to the Final Four), 2006 (lost to LSU in overtime) and 2008 (lost to Memphis). BEATING THE BEST UT s win at No. 2 Kansas on Jan. 22, 2011 equaled the highestranked (AP) opponent the Longhorns have defeated in school history. Six of Texas nine all-time wins against AP Top Three teams have come during the Rick Barnes era. 8 HELPING HOLLAND Through the first 27 games, sophomore guard Demarcus Holland leads the team in minutes (30.7 mpg) and steals (34), ranks third on the squad in assists (71), rebounds (4.9 rpg) and fifth on the team in scoring (7.6 ppg). Last year by contrast, Holland averaged just 3.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 16.5 minutes per game. He earned the team s Outstanding Defensive Player honor following last season. Holland averaged 19.6 minutes per contest during the last 19 games of last season, compared to 12.7 minutes per game in the first 15 contests. He has reached double figures in scoring six times this season and nine times in his career. In a win against UT Arlington (Nov. 29), Holland registered his first career double-double. He set career highs in points (23) and rebounds (11) and tied his career high in field goals made (9-of-13) and three-pointers made (2-of-4) in 35 minutes. He helped bail UT out of a second-half deficit against Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 15) by dropping 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting. Holland played a season-high 38 minutes against Temple (Dec. 7) and hauled down a team-high nine rebounds. Against Texas State (Dec. 14), he recorded a career-high four steals. Dished out a career-high seven assists against Oklahoma (Jan. 4). Claimed his second career double-double at Oklahoma State (Jan. 8) with 12 pts. and 10 rebs. Recorded a team-high four assists, while also grabbing four boards and two steals against No. 8/10 Iowa State (Jan. 18). Against Houston Baptist (Nov. 18), he scored a season-high 13 points, added a game-high nine rebounds and tied his career high in 3-pointers made (2-of-2). His first double-digit scoring night occurred against Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 15), when he had 12 points to go along with eight rebounds. In the season-opener against Mercer (Nov. 8), he gathered nine points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench. He followed up that performance with another nine-point night against South Alabama (Nov. 12), while hauling down five boards. At UNC (Dec. 18), he reached double figures in rebounding (10) for the first time this season and for the second time in his career. Has reached double figures in scoring four times this season (vs. SFA, vs. HBU, vs. Rice, at OSU) and seven times in his career. He pulled down seven rebounds in the win at TCU (Feb. 4), his most in a conference game this season. In his second start of the season, he set career highs in threepoint field goals made (3-of-6) and minutes (34) in the win against Oklahoma State (Feb. 11). 9 Finished with a team-high eight rebounds in the win over West Virginia (Feb. 15). Over the last five games, Lammert is averaging 5.8 rebounds in 24.0 minutes per game. MAKING AN IMMEDIATE IMPACT UT s quartet of freshmen guards (Damarcus Croaker, Isaiah Taylor, Martez Walker and Kendal Yancy) have combined to produce 30.7 percent of UT s team scoring, 20.0 percent of the team s rebounds and 31.4 percent of the team s minutes. All four freshmen have earned starting nods through the first 27 games. Taylor has started all 27 games at point guard. YANCY S YOUTH Freshman Kendal Yancy has started 10 games (Houston Baptist, UT Arlington, Vanderbilt, Temple, Texas State, North Carolina, Michigan State, Rice, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State) this season. Through 26 contests, Yancy is averaging 3.4 points and shooting 41.1 percent (30-of-73) in 12.6 minutes per game. Yancy was ranked as the No. 85 prospect nationally in the ESPN100 following his senior year. He averaged 12.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game while leading his team to a 33-6 record and a trip to the Texas 5A state semifinals as a senior. Off the bench against DePaul (Nov. 26), Yancy reached double figures for the first time in his career (10) while setting season highs in field goals made (4-of-7) and minutes played (23). Against Vanderbilt, he set a season high in points (11) and rebounds (6) while tying his season high in field goals made with 4-of-6. He reached double figures in scoring for the second time in his career. Played a season-high 25 minutes against Temple (Dec. 7). Matched his season high in rebounds with six in 10 minutes of action against No. 8/10 Iowa State (Jan. 18). SUCCESS IN THE CLASSROOM Texas Basketball has received public recognition awards for its multi-year NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) in each of the last four years (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013). The awards are given each year to teams scoring in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sport. UT has earned a perfect score in each of the last four multi-year APR reports. In seven of the last eight years, two or more student-athletes have represented Texas on the Academic All-Big 12 Men s Basketball Team. BARNETT COMMITS DURING EARLY SIGNING PERIOD Jordan Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball next season at The University of Texas. He will join the Longhorns for the season. Barnett (6-7, 190), a forward from Christian Brothers College High School who played under coach Bob McCormack, is ranked as the No. 83 prospect in the nation by ESPN and No. 101 by Rivals.com. As a junior last season, Barnett led CBC with 17.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots per game while hitting 37.6 percent of his three-point attempts. In his sophomore year, he helped the Cadets to the Class 5 quarterfinals by leading the team with 14.2 points, 6.8 boards and 1.7 blocked shots per game. Barnett also knocked down a team-high 48 three-pointers and led the team with a 48.5 shooting percentage from beyond the arc. THREE-POINT STREAK The last time Texas did not convert a three-pointer in a contest came on Dec. 18, 1990, in an overtime victory at UC-Santa Barbara. The Horns were 0-of-2 from beyond the arc on that day. The Longhorns enter Wednesday s game having hit at least one 3-pointer in 783 consecutive games. In fact, UT has converted at least one three in 911 of 917 games since the trey was introduced prior to the season. The Horns have failed to attempt at least one 3-pointer just one time in school history (Feb. 24, 1988; at TCU, win).
