5 Quoting Chris Singleton "Chris Singleton of Florida State could be the best defender in college basketball." Pat Forde ESPN.com "Long-armed and athletic, Chris Singleton can guard multiple positions, block shots, rebound and throw his body around. He has an impact on the game, and with his ability to run the floor and play with great energy, Singleton turned some heads in Akron (at the LeBron James Camp). He brings value in so many areas. I was really impressed with Singleton." Jay Bilas ESPN.com I love him. Defense is his calling card. Fran Fraschilla ESPN Chris Singleton has always intrigued NBA scouts because, at his size, he is easily an NBA athlete who can guard the 2, 3 and 4 spots on the floor. And, it doesn t hurt that he comes from a defensive-orientated system at Florida State. He s also shown at the college level that he can proficiently shoot the 3-point shot. Overall, the consensus at LeBron s camp is that he will be a first-round pick next June. Fran Fraschilla ESPN Chris Singleton is probably the best defender in college basketball. I think he s a little more athletic version of James Posey. He steals, he blocks, rebounds, he can guard three positions. I really like him. Seth Davis SI.com Florida State has all-american candidate Chris Singleton and has a chance to lead the ACC pack behind Duke and UNC. Andy Katz ESPN.com When Florida senior forward Chandler Parsons attended the LeBron James Skills Academy in Akron, Ohio, in July, one player stood out. It wasn't Duke forward Kyle Singler, Kansas State sharp-shooting guard Jacob Pullen or even UConn standout point guard Kemba Walker. It was Florida State forward Chris Singleton. Kevin Brockway Gainesville Sun Chris Singleton is considered by many scouts and pundits alike to be the best allaround defender in college basketball. He helped make the Seminoles the nation's most efficient defensive team in the country last season, leading them in steals and defensive rebounding while being named the ACC's Defensive Player of the Year. He displays a superb energy level on D, a knack for deflecting passes and altering shots -- and the fact that he has an extra-long, 6-foot-9 frame doesn't hurt, either. Since returning to the line-up he has scored in double figures three times (he is averaging 14.0 ppg) and is shooting.455 from the 3-point line (10 of 22). In addition, he is shooting.667 from the free throw line (two of three), has pulled down 18 rebounds (6.0 rpg) and has earned five assists and five steals (1.7 pg) GIBSON LEADS SEMINOLES WITH THREE BLOCKED SHOTS AGAINST LMU Junior Xavier Gibson, who led the Seminoles with three blocked shots against Loyola Marymount, enters Wednesday s game against Hawaii with 16 steals. Through 11 games this season he has blocked more shots than he did as a freshman (11 in 32 games) and is rapidly approaching his career-high of 26 blocked shots during the season. JAMES CONTINUES TO STAY HOT FROM THE FIELD Junior Bernard James, who scored 11 points on five of six shooting from the field against Loyola Marymount on Saturday night, enters Wednesday s game against Hawaii shooting.660 from the field for the season. He shot five of six against the Lions despite wearing a pair of goggles for the first time in his career to protect the 13 stitches above his left eye after taking an elbow in the first half of Florida State s win over Stetson. James shot well despite having to wear the goggles which he said distorted his view and made it look, at times, that there were a couple of baskets attached to the backboard. BERNARD JAMES HAS Blocked at least one shot in 10 of the Seminoles first 11 games of the season. He was held block-less for the first time in his career by Loyola Marymount on Saturday night in Los Angeles; Scored in double figures three times in his first season as a Seminole in wins over North Florida (15), Hartford (11) and Loyola Marymount (11); Pulled down eight or more rebounds four times including his career high of 10 against both North Florida (Nov. 12) and Hartford (Dec. 5). During both games he pulled down double figure rebounds he earned the first two double doubles of his career. SHANNON PLAYING THE BEST BASKETBALL OF HIS CAREER Terrance Shannon, who missed the first three games of the season because of an ankle sprain, is averaging 10.5 points per game in his last two games after scoring his career-high of 13 points in the Seminoles win over Stetson. He has scored 21 points (10.5 points per game), is shooting.700 from the field (seven of 10) has made seven free throws (including his career high of five against Stetson) and has played in a total of 30 minutes (15.0 mpg) in wins over Stetson and Loyola Marymount. He is been very proficient late in games as he is a perfect four of four from the line in the final minutes of games this season. Snaer was a perfect two of two from the line with nine seconds remaining against Loyola Marymount to put the Seminoles up and was a perfect two of two from the line with 22 seconds remaining against Clemson to put the Seminoles up With one of the higher free throw shooting percentages on the team, Snaer consistently finds himself on the court with the basketball in his hands in late game situations.

6 Quoting Chris Singleton I have seen Chris Singleton play since his sophomore season in high school and what impresses me the most is how far he's come on the defensive end - and also his willingness to accept a role when he was so highly touted upon his arrival in Tallahassee. He's so long, can really shoot the ball from the perimeter and gets after it on the defensive end." Jeff Goodman FOXSports.com Chris Singleton has a pro-level game and will be an All-ACC First-Team selection this season. Jay Bilas ESPN.com Chris Singleton had a breakout summer, creating a buzz for himself on the USA Select team that competed against the national team. Singleton has proved to be an effective scorer and seems to be relishing his role as Florida State s leader in the absence of the departed Solomon Alabi. He is the team s top defender and should end up being Florida State s leading scorer as he has proved he can score facing or driving to the basket. Jay Bilas ESPN.com With much of last year s team returning around Chris Singleton, the Seminoles should be one of the top defensive teams in the country. Andy Katz ESPN.com Chris Singleton is coming off a terrific summer where he impressed scouts at both LeBron's camp and scrimmaging against Team USA. He's been ranked in our top 30 on numerous occasions over the past two years. Chad Ford ESPN.com "He's really got everything, physically, you want in a player. He's athletic, long, can guard multiple positions, is an emerging shooter and runs the floor well. I'm telling you right now, if he can put it all together, he'll be a high, high draft pick next summer." Unnamed NBA Scout The thing that has impressed NBA scouts most about Singleton is his ability to guard at least three different NBA positions. His condor-like wingspan, his athleticism and Florida State s emphasis on good half-court defensive concepts earns him a spot on my (All-Defensive) team. Fran Fraschilla ESPN SNAER FROM THE 3-POINT LINE Sophomore Michael Snaer made two second half 3-point shots to help solidify Florida State s win over Loyola Marymount on Wednesday night. His first shot from the bonusphere put the Seminoles up with 8:41 remaining and made a second to put the Seminoles up with 4:57 left on the clock. Snaer enters Wednesday s game shooting a career-high.432 from the 3-point line he joins Deividas Dulkys as one of two Florida State regulars who are shooting.400 or better from the 3-point line. SINGLETON PLAYS AS A MEMBER OF U.S. SELECT TEAM The 2010 summer was very productive for Florida State's Chris Singleton. Singleton was given the opportunity to sharpen his basketball skills at various camps and national training events around the country. He attended the Kevin Durant Nike Skills camp held in Chicago, IL. in June. Singleton was one of 11 college players chosen to take part in the camp as a trainee and camp counselor. The goal of the skills academy was to give high school and college athletes the necessary tools for life and future basketball endeavors. Besides Kevin Durant, NBA coaches were also in attendance to aid the players with on-court development. Singleton then moved on to the LeBron James Skills Academy, held in Akron, Oh. In July. Singleton was one of the top 20 college players from the previous four Nike Skills Camps chosen to participate. Only a day after leaving the LeBron James Skills Academy, Singleton was selected for the 2010 US Select team. The US Select team was comprised of the top 20 seniors in all of college basketball. The team trained in Las Vegas, Nev., July 19 th - 24 th. The team was reduced to ten players as Singleton progressed to training against the USA National Team, held in New York City, Aug SEMINOLES SIGN ANOTHER TOP 25 RECRUITING CLASS For the ninth consecutive year Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton has attracted a top 25 recruiting class to play for the Seminoles as he once again brought in four players forward Antwan Space (DeSoto H.S./DeSoto, Texas), guard Aaron Thomas (Withrow H.S./Cincinnati, Ohio), center Kiel Turpin (Lincoln College/Normal, Ill.), and guard Terry Whisnant (Cherryville H.S./Cherryville, N.C.) who are all ranked in the nation s top 100 overall players and within the nation s top 30 players at their positions and a junior college All-American who is rated a four star player. Our staff has put our program in a very enviable position in regards to recruiting and attracting players to continue their careers at Florida State, said Hamilton. We are able to bring great young men of great character who are also great players into our program because of the players who are already on our team. Our coaches do a great job of evaluation and that allows us to find the best players for our program year in and year out. We work very hard in the evaluation process and judging by this class of outstanding young men we are elated with the players who will be joining our program. The thing Chris has done is make a tremendous transition from being a post guy who could shoot jumpers to being a full-time perimeter player. I expect him to get even better defensively. He takes pride in his performance on the defensive end, which is rare for a McDonald s All-American. Leonard Hamilton Head Coach, Florida State
