7 Air Force Women s Basketball Hosts Colorado Air Force women s basketball hosts Colorado on Friday, Dec. 15. Tip-off, at Clune Arena, is slated for 7 pm MT. Live stats, radio and video stream will be available for the game. Last Time Out Air Force women s basketball dropped a contest at Weber State Saturday afternoon at Dee Events Center. Freshman Kaelin Immel and senior Cortney Porter combined to score 31 points to lead the Falcons. The late-game woes continued for the Falcons, as they could not hold a fi ve point lead with less than fi ve minutes to play. Weber State went on a 14-0 run to take the lead and closed out the game with a 16-1 advantage. Larryn Brooks led Weber State with 20 points. J aiamoni Welch-Coleman added 11 points for the Wildcats. Immel fi nished with a team-high 16 points for Air Force. The freshman had fi ve rebounds and three steals. Porter, playing in front of friends and family in her home town of Ogden, scored 15. Porter added fi ve rebounds, two assists and three steals. Senior Dee Bennett scored eight points on an efficient 3 of 6 shooting from the fl oor, to go with eight rebounds. Freshman Emily Conroe chipped-in with seven points and four boards. The Falcons kept the game close until the end. Air Force trailed Weber State at halftime but evened the score at after three quarters. An 11-6 start to the fourth quarter had the Falcons up with 4:36 to play before the Wildcats went on their game-ending run. I thought we played very well against a team in Weber State that is very strong offensively, Air Force head coach Christ Gobrecht said. To hold them to 62 points at their place was an accomplishment in itself. Unfortunately, they hit a couple three s late and that was the difference. The Falcons shot 34.5 percent from the fi eld and 27.3 percent from three point range. The Falcons were 60 percent from the free throw line. I thought we had very strong performances from all our players today, Gobrecht said. Kaelin Immel played well for us right from the get-go and Dee Bennett played her best game of the season for us. A break here, or a break there, and our record could be completely different. We ll keep plugging away and continue to get better, and those breaks should begin to even themselves out. Freshmen Contributing Immediately Air Force s freshmen have accounted to 54 percent of the team s scoring so far this season. Freshmen Kaelin Immel leads the team in scoring at 12.0 ppg and Emily Conroe is second at 11.0 ppg. Four of the top nine scorers for Air Force are freshmen. The Falcons start two freshmen it its lineup with fi ve seeing steady minutes. Improving Each Season Although the results aren t where it would like to be in the Win-Loss column, Air Force women s basketball has shown steady signs of progress each season under Chris Gobrecht. The Falcons have have shown improvement this season despite carrying nine freshmen on its roster.
