3 NETBALL IN THE EAST OF ENGLAND Hertfordshire Mavericks is the Netball Superleague Team for the East of England. This region consists of 7 counties; Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Thurrock, plus North London. England Netball as a governing body has just under 92,000 affiliated members, over 12,000 people from this total play across this region each week 99% of England Netball s membership are female 72% of this total are under 35 and of this seventy two percent, 85% are under 25 THE NETBALL SUPERLEAGUE Elite Competition, 14 League Rounds of action packed netball. 60 minutes of high pressured games in each round, with each Club playing 7 home and 7 away fixtures Leading into Play Offs, Semi Finals and Grand Final High profile women s sport in the UK, providing an uncluttered market with sponsor s brands compared to men s sports, which offers you greater opportunity for your brand to stand out and gain recognition Attracts players from across the globe Regular coverage on SKY Sports and is partnered by England Netball. In 2014 the SuperLeague as a whole attracted attendances of just under 40,000 spectators across all matches. 4 WHO ARE HERTFORDSHIRE MAVERICKS Hertfordshire Mavericks was established in 2005 as a founder Club of the Netball SuperLeague. Since that time it has achieved an unrivalled record of success reaching the play off stages in every year of the competition, winning the title on two occasions As part of its succession planning the club also operates an U19 Youth Squad which competes in the Netball Performance League (NPL), this competition is the highest level in England Netball s athlete development programme. Mavericks Youth were champions in 2011, and Runners Up in 2012/2013, 2013/14. Mavericks have introduced the concept of a Development Squad targeted at players aged years to further enhance the player opportunities for that age group Mavericks play home matches at the Hertfordshire Sports Village in Hatfield, which forms part of the University of Hertfordshire campus, situated in an accessible location just off the A1M and close to the M25. Home match attendances are at capacity currently around 800 per game The Squad boasts present and past players from England s National Squad, including sisters Sasha and Kadeen Corbin and Lyndsay Keable who represented England at the recent Commonwealth Games. The remainder of the Squad consists of elite home grown and talented players who live and work in the East and South of the UK. The Squad has also been strengthened by the addition of two overseas players. The Coaching Team for both the Mavericks NSL and Mavericks NPL Youth Squads boasts a wealth of experienced coaches who have held positions both as past national players and coaches and who are fully committed to the Club with an emphasis on the people involved, from athletes to fans The Mavericks Management Board has worked to achieve a unique Club with links to netball organisations, academic institutions and businesses, and remains one of the few independent SuperLeague Clubs in the country Our Club Mascot, Miranda the Meerkat, plays a big part in match day entertainment and is a popular attraction at local community events.
