3 3 on 3 Basketball rules League Play 1. A single elimination All-University tournament will be scheduled for men and women play. Number of Players 1. A team may start a game with four (4) members present three (3) players and one (1) non-playing person. 2. Each team must furnish a non-playing person to help with the scoring and timing of the game. They should continuously check with each other to make sure the score, time-outs charged and personal fouls are correct. 3. A team may start a game with three (3) members present two (2) players and one (1) non-playing person. 4. In the event a team does not satisfy the requirements listed previously above the team will receive a forfeit and removed from the tournament. Player Equipment 1. Any style of non-marking athletic shoe (except cleats, spikes, turf, hiking or sandals) is acceptable. 2. In the case of questionable equipment, the game supervisors and director will determine if equipment is permitted or prohibited. 3. All jewelry will need to be removed prior to play. Length of Game 1. The game will consist of one (1) 20-minute period. The clock will start and stop on the referee s signal. Time does not stop for any reason except injuries. 2. Time between games will be two (2) minutes.

4 3. The first team to score twenty-one (21) points, or the team leading at the end of the twenty (20) minute time limit will win the game. 4. It is not necessary to win by two (2) points. 5. In the case of a tie at the end of twenty (20) minutes, the winner will be decided by the next basket made. General Rules 1. Games will begin with a free throw by one player selected from the home team s captain. The team listed 2 nd on the game sheet in considered the home team. If the player shooting the free throw makes the basket, the home team receives the ball first. If the basket is missed, the visiting team receives the ball first. 2. Each basket scored in front of the 3-point line is worth one (1) point. 3. Each basket scored behind the 3-point line is worth two (2) points. 4. There is no fouling out. Fouls will be called by the official(s) only. The official s decision is final NO EXCEPTIONS! 5. Personal Fouls (i) Bonus free throws begin with a team s sixth personal foul during each game, provided the first attempt is successful. 6. Technical fouls (i) Two (2) technical fouls in a game on any individual is cause for automatic ejection from the game and the individual must leave the All-Purpose Room. Failure to leave the All-Purpose room may result in the forfeiture of the ball game. (ii) If a team receives three (3) flagrant technical fouls in one (1) game, the game will be terminated and forfeited at that point. (iii) Illegal substitutions or too many time outs are technical fouls but are not considered as flagrant technical fouls. (iv) Total individual technical fouls shall not exceed three (3). On the fourth technical foul the individual shall be disqualified for the remainder of that sport season.

5 (v) Total team technical fouls shall not exceed six (6). On the seventh team technical foul, the team shall be disqualified for the remainder of that team sport season. 7. Dunking before, during and/or after a game will result in a technical foul toward the individual and team totals. 8. A dunk occurring during the game will result in the basket not counting and a technical foul awarded to the team and the individual. 9. One (1) non-playing person is allowed on a team s bench during the game. 10. The check line shall be the 3-point arc around the court. 11. A player must PASS the ball in play from the check line top of the arc after a dead ball situation. 12. Any person holding the ball (without dribbling) for more than five (5) seconds will be considered stalling. Substitutions 1. Substitutions may only be made when the team has possession of the ball and when the ball is considered dead.
