St. Peters, Mo. -/- -/- -/- -/- STORYLINES DICKERSON CLIMBING THE CHARTS: Sophomore guard Lauren Dickerson, who was tabbed a First-Team All-MAC performer just last week, has done nothing but impress since stepping foot on campus. This season, she became the fastest player in program history to reach 1,000 points, doing so in just 55 games. Last season, she poured in a freshman-record 520 points and also set a new record for most field goals by a first-year player with 191. She outdid herself this season, breaking the sophomore scoring record, with 614 points and counting, good enough for second-most ever in a single-season. She already ranks fourth on Miami s all-time charts in 20-point games with 28. Just a few weeks ago, she broke the single-season threepoint field goals made record and has 98 makes from beyond the arc this year. Dickerson has also tallied 29 double-figure scoring performances this season alone. DUFFY MAKES HISTORY: The RedHawks have seen a marked improvement in terms of on-court production and results under first-year head coach Megan Duffy. Miami won 11 games all of last season and surpassed that with room to spare with 21 so far this year. She is one of just four first-year head coaches in the nation this season to reach the 20-win plateau, and the only female. Also amongst first-year head coaches, Duffy ranks second in terms of the highest win total improvement (+10). Miami s win at Akron on Feb. 21 put Duffy in her own company, amassing the most wins of any first-year coach in program history. She also garnered more non-conference wins (8) than any other first-year head coach in program history and was the second-fastest to 10 wins of any coach in school history in their first year. With Miami s two win streaks of five or more games this year, it s the first time that the RedHawks have had an unbeaten streak of five or more games twice in one season since , when Miami won six games in a row on two separate occasions. Before losing to Central Michigan in the MAC Tournament semifinals on Friday, Miami had won 11 of its last 12 games after starting MAC play 2-5.

The game will air live on ESPN3 and can also be heard on the Miami IMG Sports Network with a subscription. Miami finished the season on the year, including a 12-6 mark in Mid-American Conference play. The postseason berth is the program s first since 2013, which was also a WNIT appearance. The RedHawks saw drastic improvements this year under first-year head coach Megan Duffy with the 12 conference wins matching the last three seasons combined. Duffy also led the biggest win turnaround in the country for a first-year coach as Miami went the season prior, a net difference of 10 victories. Only one other coach in the nation did that this year. Just three others led their teams to 20 wins and Duffy is the lone female in that group. LAST TIME OUT: The Red & White were last in action at the MAC Tournament last week. After receiving a first-round bye straight to Cleveland, MU took down rival Ohio in the quarterfinals, The team took on top-seeded Central Michigan, the eventual champion, in the semifinals, falling It was just the RedHawks second loss since Jan. 24 as the team had won 11 of its prior 12 games leading up. ABOUT DUQUESNE: The Dukes went 23-7 this season, which included a 13-3 mark in a tough Atlantic-10 Conference. The team secured an automatic bid to the WNIT thanks to the top two teams in their league going to the NCAA Tournament. Chassidy Omogrosso leads Duquesne with 16.8 ppg and has played and started in all 30 games. Julijana Vojnovic follows close behind, scoring at a 15.9 ppg clip. The Dukes average 70.4 ppg while giving up 63.4 ppg. Duquesne and Miami played three common opponents this year in Toledo, Akron and Central Michigan. The Dukes went 3-0 against that field while Miami was 3-1, beating Akron twice and falling to CMU once. SERIES WITH THE DUKES: Miami and Duquesne have only met four times with the Dukes owning a 3-1 series lead. The latest meeting was Nov. 26, 2013, a Duquesne victory in Oxford. The Red & White s lone win in the series came the matchup prior in Pittsburgh, a decision. This will be the first postseason meeting between the two. LOOKING AHEAD: A Miami win would send the team into the Round of 32 against the winner of Georgetown or Delaware. Game day, time and location will be determined at a later time. 5 WOMEN S B A S K E T B A L L 5 Megan Duffy Head Coach Years as Head Coach: First Season Overall Record: (12-6 MAC) Years at Miami: First Season Record at Miami: (12-6 MAC) Alma Mater: Notre Dame 06 Miami University Director of Athletics David Sayler announced Megan Duffy as the newest head coach of the women s basketball program on Monday, April 3, Duffy, a native of Dayton, Ohio, spent the previous three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan and becomes the RedHawks ninth head coach in program history. The Wolverines were a postseason mainstay in Duffy s three seasons as an assistant coach, winning at least 20 games and advancing to the WNIT Final Four each year. That stretch includes a school-record 28 victories and a WNIT title in Under Duffy s tutelage, Michigan cracked the national top 25 rankings for the first time in four years this season, moving as high as 20th in the polls. The Wolverines were a potent offensive bunch during the past three campaigns, finishing 11th in the country in scoring with a program-record 78.6 points per game in The squad also finished sixth nationally in field goal percentage (47.8 percent) and fifth in three-point percentage (39.8 percent). In Michigan finished 18th nationally with 76.9 points per game, ninth in three-point percentage (38.1 percent) and 13th in field goal percentage (46.1 percent). Duffy worked with the Wolverines point guards and wing players during her time in Ann Arbor and also worked closely with the strength and conditioning staff to implement team conditioning, strength and nutrition regiments. A diligent recruiter, Duffy assisted in sealing recruiting classes that ranked fifth (2015) and 12th (2016) nationally for the Maize and Blue. She recruited and coached eight All-Big Ten selections and two All-Freshman Team picks, including Big Ten Sixth Player of the Year Katelynn Flaherty, who netted 1,992 points (second in school history) in three years with Duffy. Duffy spent two years ( ) as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at George Washington, helping the Colonials to a record and second-place finish in the Atlantic 10 in It was the highest win total for GW since 2008 and the Colonials advanced to the third round of the WNIT for the first time since that same season. She helped guards Danni Jackson (third team) and Chakecia Miller (all-defensive team) to A-10 postseason honors following the season. Her responsibilities at George Washington included recruiting, on-floor coaching, player development, scouting and monitoring student-athletes academic performance. As recruiting coordinator, Duffy brought in 10 players during her tenure at GW to help the Colonials to a second-place conference finish after just two years. Prior to joining the Colonials, Duffy spent three seasons ( ) as an assistant coach at St. John s. The Red Storm went during Duffy s tenure at SJU, making the NCAA Tournament in all three seasons and reaching the 2012 Sweet 16. In her final season at St. John s, the Red Storm advanced to its first-ever Sweet 16 as a No. 3 seed, the highest NCAA seed in program history. SJU finished the season ranked at No. 15 in both major polls. She spent her final season at St. John s ( ) as the recruiting coordinator, in addition to her duties of working with the guards, game planning, scouting and scheduling. Duffy joined the college coaching ranks after a successful collegiate playing career, spending time with USA Basketball and a professional career both in the U.S. and overseas. Duffy was a four-year letterwinner at Notre Dame ( ), helping the Irish to four-straight NCAA appearances and two Sweet 16 berths. She is one of four players in school history to total at least 1,000 points, 500 assists and 200 steals. She was an Associated Press and Kodak All-America honorable mention in 2005 and 2006, while being a finalist for both the John Wooden Award and Nancy Lieberman Award in her final season. In 2006, she won the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award, which is given to the nation s top point guard under 5-8. Duffy was also a two-time All-Big East first team selection ( ), the 2006 Big East /Aeropostle Scholar Athlete of the Year and a 2006 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American (first team). She also helped Team USA to the gold medal at the 2005 World University Games. After her career at Notre Dame, she was the 31st pick in the 2006 WNBA draft and played three seasons with the Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty. Duffy also played overseas with teams in Romania, Slovakia, Italy and Wales. Duffy graduated from Notre Dame in 2006 with a double degree in psychology and computer applications.
