The contest between the Bobcats and the Rockets marks the lone home game for Ohio over a 15-day span as the Green & White plays four road games during the stretch. The first 1,000 fans in attendance on Tuesday will receive free snapback hats while free DP Dough will be served to students. Tuesday s game will be regionally televised on Spectrum Sports and Buckeye Cable Sports Network (check local listings) as well as being broadcast on ESPN3 and is being streamed live nationally on WatchESPN and the ESPN app. Michael Reghi and Dave Cecutti have the call. The Bobcats also converted 66.7 percent (8-of-12) of their free throw attempts. Simmons shot 8-of-14 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. He also distributed a game-high five assists to go along with four rebounds and two steals over 37 minutes. Center. Under the watch of seventh-year head coach Tod Kowalczyk, the Rockets are one of the league s top offensive units, averaging 81.6 points per game (second in the MAC, 30th in the nation) and shooting 47.6 percent from the field (second in the MAC, 48th in the country. Toledo has struggled on the defensive end, though, allowing 78.9 points per game, which ranks 11th in the league and 309th in the country, and permitting the opposition to shoot 47.4 percent from the field, which ranks 11th in the league and 326th in the country. Senior guard Jonathan Williams averages a team-high 20.7 points per game for Toledo, which ranks second in the MAC and 26th in the country. Senior forward Steve Taylor Jr. is averaging a double-double for the Rockets with 15.1 points and a MAC-high 11.8 rebounds per game, with the latter being good for fifth in the country. Sophomore guard Jaelan Sanford is also averaging double digits in points for Toledo with 13.3 per game. Toledo posted an win over Ohio in its last visit to the Convo on Jan. 14, In the most recent meeting between the two squads, Simmons tied the school and conference record with 17 assists and recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 12 points as Ohio held on for a wild win over Toledo at Savage Arena. The Bobcats shot 54.7 percent (29-of-53) from the field and tallied 14 three-point field goals made on 27 attempts. Simmons recorded eight assists in the first half and nine in the second. He went 4-of-8 from the field and 4-of-6 from the charity stripe and finished with five rebounds and a steal while playing all 40 minutes. Kaminski shot 8-of-16 from the field -- including 5-of-12 from three-point range -- to log a game-high 22 points. He also recorded five rebounds and an assist in 33 minutes. Williams logged 21 points for the Rockets, knocking down three treys and going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. He recorded a team-high five assists, four rebounds, a block and a steal in 34 minutes. Then-freshman forward Nate Navigato sank three three-point field goals and finished with 10 points, five rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes off of the bench for Toledo. Tuesday s game is the lone regular season meeting between the Bobcats and the Rockets. OHIO S MAC HISTORY Ohio boasts a (.562) all-time record in MAC play. The Bobcats have captured 10 league regular season titles, with the last coming in NEWS & NOTES season when Ohio came away with a triumph on Feb. 7, Ohio shot 50.0 percent (31-of-62) from the field -- including 51.6 percent (16-of-31) from three-point range. The 16 made treys marked the most by the Bobcats this season and the most since Ohio drained 18 in a win over Akron on Feb. 4, The Bobcats then put together a dominate triumph over East Division rival Kent State on national television on Jan. 6 at the Convocation Center. The Bobcats 15 steals marked the most by an Ohio team since posting 12 against Kent State on March 1, The last time Ohio tallied 15 steals in a game was against UNC Asheville on Feb. 18, On Jan. 10 in Amherst, N.Y., redshirt senior forward Kenny Kaminski (Medina, Ohio) knocked down a jumper with a hand in his face with 0.8 seconds left to lift Ohio to an incredible come-frombehind win over MAC East Division rival Buffalo at Alumni Arena. The Bobcats erased a 15-point second half deficit in the victory. After trailing by a season-high 14 points at halftime, Ohio outscored Buffalo, 46-30, in the second half. Ohio overcame a tough offensive night in which it shot 39.3 percent (22-of-56) from the field -- including just 27.3 percent (6-of-22) from three-point range. Buffalo also dominated the glass, outrebounding Ohio, 50-38, and finishing with 16 offensive boards. The Bobcats went to the free throw line a season-high 35 times, however, sinking a season-high 24 freebies as Ohio took advantage of the Bulls being hit with three technical fouls in the second half. The Bulls attempted 13 three-pointers in the second half but managed to convert only one of them. Ohio has dropped its next two games after the win over Buffalo, falling at home to Eastern Michigan, 53-49, last Saturday (Jan. 14), then suffering an setback to East Division rival Akron on Tuesday (Jan. 17) at James A. Rhodes Arena. OHIO EARNS EIGHT WINS IN NON-CONFERENCE PLAY Ohio started a season with four-straight wins for the first time under third-year head coach Saul Phillips after topping Tennessee Tech, 68-57, on Nov. 25 at the Convo. The Green & White posted a triumph at Georgia Tech on Nov the program s first win in an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent s gym since Dec. 12, an Ohio victory over then-acc member Maryland in College Park, Md. The Bobcats stymied Southern, 77-67, on Nov. 12 in the season opener at the Convocation Center, then rolled to a triumph over Southland Conference preseason favorite on Nov. 14 at the Convo. Ohio s win over Southern marked the 13th year in a row the Bobcats have won their season opener. Other Ohio victories during the non-conference slate included wins over Sam Houston State (Nov. 14, 96-75), Bryant (Dec. 3, 79-53), Milwaukee (Dec. 14, 71-69), Cleveland State (Dec. 17, 71-53) and Urbana (Dec. 30, 77-50). HOME, SWEET HOME Ohio has registered an impressive (.760) all-time record at the Convocation Center, which opened in The Bobcats have led the MAC in attendance in eight of the past 10 seasons. In two-plus seasons under Phillips, Ohio has gone (.750) at home -- including 13-8 (.619) in conference games played at the Convo. CAMPBELL TO MISS REMAINDER OF SEASON WITH INJURY Senior forward Antonio Campbell (Cincinnati, Ohio) has suffered a broken bone in his right foot that will require season-ending surgery, Phillips announced last Thursday (Jan. 19). We feel awful for Tony, said Phillips. Sick to our stomach. We wish him nothing but a speedy and full recovery. We are proud of all that he s accomplished while wearing a Bobcat uniform and thank him for his many contributions to our program. Campbell, who played in 113 games and made 83 starts over four seasons for the Bobcats, ends his Ohio career ranking 22nd in program history with 1,257 points (11.1 per game), 10th with 81 rebounds (7.1 per game) and ninth with 119 blocks (1.1 per game). His career shooting percentage of 53.6 percent (498-of-929) ranks fifth in Ohio history. He tallied 32 career double-doubles. Campbell put together a stellar junior campaign in , earning Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America, National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I First Team All-District 14, Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-MAC honors. He joined Frank Baumholtz (1941; Converse First Team), Walter Luckett (1975; Helms Honorable Mention), Gary Trent (1995; AP, UPI Honorable Mention) and D.J. Cooper (2013; AP Honorable Mention, Lou Henson; 2012; Lute Olson) in earning All-America honors and became the ninth player in program history to earn a MAC Player of the Year award, joining Ken Kowall (1971), Luckett (1974), John Deveraux (1984), Paul Graham (1989), Dave Jamerson (1990), Lewis Geter (1992), Trent (1993, 94, 95) and Cooper (2013) on Ohio s MAC Player of the Year list. Campbell led the Bobcats in scoring with 17.1 points per game (fourth in MAC), a 56.6 percent field goal percentage (237-of-423; second in MAC, 39th in NCAA), 6.8 field goals made per game, 12.1 field goals attempted per game, 10.2 rebounds per game (second in MAC, 21st in NCAA) and 1.8 blocks per game (first in MAC, 59th in NCAA). He also ranked second on the team with 2.3 free throws made per game and 3.2 free throw attempts per game and third with 1.2 three-point field goals made per game and 3.3 three-point field goal attempts per game. A two-time MAC East Division Player of the Week pick in , Campbell dominated in conference play, averaging a league-high 10.5 boards per game and ranking third with 19.1 points and 1.4 blocks per game. He ranked third in the conference with a 57.4 percent (136-of-237) field goal percentage and shot 44.6 percent (29-of-65) from beyond the arc -- good for sixth in the league. Campbell led the team in scoring a team-high 15 times and rebounding a team-high 29 times in He posted doubledigit points in a team-high 29 games and logged double-digit boards a team-high 20 times. He achieved a team-high 17 doubledoubles, which ranks 19th in the NCAA. Campbell s 598 points in go down as the eighth-most in a single season in program history. He made 237 field goals, which ranks as the sixth-most in a single season in program history. He also hauled in 358 rebounds, which is the sixth-most in a single season in program history. His 63 blocks in are the eighth-most in a single season in program history. Campbell was averaging a team-high 16.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game this year. He reached double figures in scoring 11 times this season and put together five outings with at least 20 points. He led the Bobcats in scoring seven times. Campbell also tallied double-digit boards seven times this year and led Ohio in rebounds on 10 occasions. He notched six double-doubles this year. A five-time MAC East Division Player of the Week recipient, he earned the honor three times this season. DE-FENSE Ohio s effort on the defensive end was the lowlight of an otherwise strong campaign. The Bobcats ranked second-to-last in the MAC and 249th in the country by giving up 74.8 points per contest. Through 17 games in , Ohio leads the MAC and ranks 61st in the nation with 66.5 points allowed per game, first in the league and 48th in the country with a 40.5 percent field goal percentage defense and third in the league and 73rd in the country with a 32.1 percent three-point field goal percentage defense. The Bobcats have held the opposition to under 70 points in 12 of their first 17 games, coming away victorious in 10 of those contests. RAINING THREES The Bobcats have already picked up where they left off last year from beyond the arc. Ohio currently ranks 69th in the nation with a 37.7 percent (157-of-416) three-point field goal percentage and 36th with 9.2 three-point field goals per game. Kaminski, who scored a season-high 27 points at Western Kentucky thanks in large part to sinking a season-high six treys, currently ranks 26th in the nation with a 43.2 percent (48-of-111) threepoint field goal percentage. His 3.0 three-point field goals made per game are good for 33rd in the country. Kaminski has knocked down at least five three-pointers in a game four times this season and has done so 11 times in his Ohio career. He led the Bobcats in scoring over the team s final two non-conference games, averaging a teamhigh 22.5 points per game (45 points) off of 46.9 percent (15-of-32) shooting from the field -- including 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from beyond the arc. Kaminski, who is averaging 12.8 points per game (204 points) in to rank fourth on the team, made 83 threepoint field goals in , which ranked third in the conference and seventh-most in a single season in program history, while his 229 three-point field goal attempts ranked third in the conference and third-most in a single season in program history. Dartis is 24th in country with a 43.5 percent (50-of-115) three-point field goal percentage, and his 2.9 three-point field goals made per game are good for 48th in the nation. NO SOPHOMORE SLUMP Dartis is out to prove his strong rookie campaign in was no fluke. Dartis ranks second on the team with 12.6 points per game (214 points) and also leads the team in steals per game (1.2 per game, 20 steals), ranks second in minutes per game (34.5 per game, 587 minutes), third in assists per game (1.9 per game, 32 assists) and fourth in both field goals made per game (3.9; 66 field goals made)

4 and field goals attempted per game (9.1; 154 field goals attempted). He is shooting a team-best 88.9 percent (32-of-36) from the free throw line. Dartis posted a season-high 22 points in the triumph over Tennessee Tech. He shot 7-of-16 from the field and 50 percent (6-of-12) from the three-point range. Dartis sank six three-pointers again in the victory over Bryant en route to finishing with 20 points. He finished in double figures in scoring in six of Ohio s first seven games in and has achieved the feat 13 times this year and 28 times in his career -- including recording 20 or more points four times. Dartis burst onto the scene in and was named to the 2016 All-MAC Freshman Team. He ranked fifth on the team with 9.8 points per game. Simmons, a NABC Division I Second Team All-District 14 and Second Team All-MAC pick, led the Bobcats and ranked third in the NCAA with 7.9 assists per game in , setting a school record with 275 dimes to rank second in the country. He led Ohio in assists in all but two games and has handed out at least five helpers 32 times -- including at least 10 six times. Simmons ended the season ranking second on the team in scoring with 15.5 points per game and leads the team in free throws made per game (4.7), free throws attempted per game (6.1) and minutes played per game (36.5) and tied for the team lead in steals per (0.8). He ranks second on the team in field goals made per game (4.9) and third in field goals attempted per game (10.6). Simmons posted double-digit points in each of the final 10 games and 26 times on the year and surpassed the 20-point mark 10 times. A 6-4, 188-pound guard, Butler has returned to Dorman High School to compete under head coach Thomas Ryan after spending his junior year at Norcross High School in Georgia. He averaged 14 points per game as a junior at Norcross after averaging nine a game as a sophomore at Dorman. Born Feb. 6, 1998, he is the son of Don and Andrea Butler and has a sister, Briana. Under head coach Mark Fisher, he helped guide the Orangemen to an Akron City Series title in after a sectional championship in A two-time First Team All-Akron City Series selection, Gareri was named the conference s player of the year and garnered all-state honorable mention in He has also competed at the AAU level for Team Work, DB Hoops and OBC. Born Aug. 14, 1998, he is the son of Fred and Shelley Gareri and has a brother, Luke. Gareri has been a merit roll or honor roll student every semester at Ellet and garnered Academic All-City recognition as both a freshman and a junior. A 6-8, 235-pound forward, Vander Plas has averaged 16.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.8 steals over 70 career games at Ripon High School under head coach Dean Vander Plas, his father. A first team all-state pick and East Central Conference and Oshkosh Northwestern Player of the Year pick as a junior last year, he averaged a career-best 20.6 points and 11.4 rebounds as well as 3.8 assists, 1.8 blocks and 0.6 steals over 25 games, helping to guide the Tigers to their third-straight Division 3 regional crown. A three-year team captain, Vander Plas garnered First Team All-East Central Conference laurels as both a sophomore and a junior after receiving second team recognition as a freshman. Vander Plas has also competed at the AAU level for Wisconsin United. Born, Sept. 19, 1998, he is the son of Dean and Mary Vander Plas and has a brother, Samuel, and a sister, Taylor. His sister, Taylor, played basketball at Cederville, helping to lead her squad to a NCAA Division II tournament berth in OHIO TO COMPETE IN 2017 GILDAN CHARLESTON CLASSIC Ohio will compete in the 2017 Gildan Charleston Classic, which will be held Nov. 16, 17 and 19, 2017, at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C. The Bobcats join in an eight-team field that also features Auburn, Clemson, Dayton, Hofstra, Indiana State, Old Dominion and Temple. This family-friendly tournament offers the teams a week of practice, play and experiences in and around historic Charleston. The Gildan Charleston Classic is one of 11 college basketball events that is owned and operated by ESPN Events, a division of ESPN. NDOUR MAKES NEW YORK KNICKS ROSTER Ndour made the opening night roster for the NBA s New York Knicks. Ndour, who signed with the Knicks on July 14, averaged 4.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 14.9 minutes per game over six preseason games. He competed in the 2015 NBA Las Vegas Summer League for New York, where he averaged 9.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.0 block, 1.0 steal and 28.3 minutes over five games -- including four starts. Dick Vitale, ESPN SAUL PHILLIPS Head Coach Third Season Wisconsin-Platteville 96 Record at Ohio: (.549) Career Record: (.597) Saul Phillips enters his third season as head coach of the Ohio men s basketball program in Ohio posted 23 victories in including an 11-7 mark in Mid-American Conference play. The Ohio squad matched the team for the biggest turnaround in program history. The Bobcats improved by 13 wins under Phillips after posting just 10 victories in The Bobcats matched the team for the sixthmost wins in a single season in program history. After earning the No. 2 seed in the 2016 MAC Tournament presented by VisitMyrtleBeach.com and a bye to Cleveland, Ohio defeated No. 7-seeded Northern Illinois, 79-62, on March 10 in the quarterfinals before falling to No. 3-seeded Buffalo in the semifinals the following day, The Bobcats made their 22nd postseason appearance in program history and advanced to the semifinals of the 2016 College Basketball Invitational after beating Albany in overtime in the first round, 94-90, on March 16 and knocking off UNCG, 72-67, on March 21 in the quarterfinals. Ohio s season ended two days later with a defeat at the hands of Morehead State. Ohio s 2,746 points scored in ranked as the secondmost in a single season in program history while its 937 field goals made tied for second. The Bobcats set a program record with 296 three-point field goals made. The team s 38.6 percent three-point field goal percentage was good for second-best in program history. Ohio surpassed the 90-point mark five times in and eclipsed the 80-point mark 16 times. Senior forward Antonio Campbell was named a Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America selection, the 2016 MAC Player of the Year, a National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I First Team All-District 14 honoree and a 2016 First Team All-MAC pick. Redshirt junior guard Jaaron Simmons earned NABC Division I Second Team All-District 14 honors. The Second Team All-MAC selection s 275 assists last year went down as the most in both program and MAC history.
