Cjb 5 with double wing screens 3 & 4 lead out for the ball from the low post area. 1 passes to the open wing player. Which ever wing gets the ball, the strong side post screens away for the opposite post. 5 comes to screen 3 who makes a fake drive off the 5 mans screen. 5 rolls to the basket looking for the pass. 4 now comes to set a second screen & roll play for 3. 3 comes off the screen looking for 3 rolling or any other scoring opportunities. 5 has relocated to a receiver spot just below the free throw line. 3

Cjb eob This is an end out of bounds set after a score. 4 takes the ball out. 1 is ball side, 2 is opposite and 3 is the extra pressure release. 1 tries to beat his player with a step & speed, when he gets the ball 2 will bust over to the strong side of the court before the half way line looking for the quick kick ahead. If 1 cannot receive the ball 2 will break across the key with a step & speed to receive the ball. 1 will now push ahead on the strong side before the half way line looking for the quick kick ahead pass from 2. 3 is the pressure releas option if 1 & 2 cannot receive the ball. 3 will lead with speed looking for the ball. Cjb jr - dual passes to 1 on 1 Line Offensive players on each side of the centre court line & Defenders on each of the Baseline corners. the first defender on each corner starts with the ball & passes it straight up the lane to the first Offensive player in each line. As soon as the pass is made the defenders sprint to defend the Offoensive player on the diagonal side of the court. As soon as the Offence receives the ball they are attacking the hoop with speed trying to beat the closing out defender to score. restrict the 1 on 1 one game to thehalf side the players are now on & play until a score or stop. Rotate to a different line each time playing both Offence & Defence.. 4

Cjb jr drive, shot or spotup Load players at the hats as shown. 1 player passes the ball across court and sprints to the low corner then heads to the basket to be a dump option or the rebound. The receiving player drives looking to score or pass to the dump option. Work on different types of finishes. Can use a hop step shot, jump stop shot, step around floater, reverse lay-up, etc. Here the player passes to the opposite wing, the wing drives to the basket & the passer relocates to the low receiver spot. The driving player makes the long pass and often uses the leap in the air leaning pass along the baseline The pass is made to the opposite wing & the wing drives to the basket hard but pulls up at the edge of the key to dump the ball to the flashing player. As soon as the pass is made the passer quickly cuts toward the low reciever spot then flashes high to the area just inside the free throw line for the dump. 5

Cjb jr full crt 1on1 defence Start with 1 offensive player & 1 defender under the basket. Have a passer on one side of the back court & one on the other in the front court. Offence dribbles toward the 1st reciever, defence plays trying to stop offence making or receiving passes, denial is a main focus. Repeat this to the opposite side. On receiving the ball back from the 2nd passer we play 1 on 1 until a score or stop. Cjb jr slide dribble & drive Players start on the baseline & slide with a crab dribble using the hand to the centre of the court. The crab dribble ends at the hat and the player drives hard to the basket for a lay up. Progression of this can be for the players to make 1 or 2 changes of direction at the end of the hat.with a cross over, between the legs, reverse spin, behind the back, etc, then drive to the basket. Another progresion of this drill can be to add different finishes to the lay ups. Players can use the revers lay up, a large 1-2 side step action, a jump stop to a move, running hook shots, etc. 6

Cjb jr ucla cutting drill Have a player at the point with a ball & a defender. The defender gives best effort at all times. Place a player at the wing spot as a passer. The defender is not off to the ball giving the cutter an advantage. Ball is passed to the wing & the offence makes a hard UCLA speed cut to the basket trying to beat the defender to the outside. The ball is passed to the cutter & 1 on 1 is played until a score or stop. Have a player at the point with a ball & a defender. The defender gives best effort at all times. Place a player at the wing spot as a passer. Ball is passed to the wing, defence jumps to the ball & the offence makes a hard UCLA speed cut to the basket with hand extended looking to slip behind the defender for the pass. Progress this to the offence running at the defender, hitting & spinning off the defender looking to beat them to the basket for the pass. The ball is passed to the cutter & 1 on 1 is played until a score or stop. Have a player at the point with a ball & a defender. The defender gives best effort at all times. Place a player at the wing spot as a passer. Ball is passed to the wing and the offence makes a speed cut to the basket trying to beat the defender. If the ball is not passed in the wing player dribbles to the top of the key & the cutter leads out hard for the ball with the defence applying denial pressure. The ball is passed to the cutter & 1 on 1 is played until a score or stop. 7

Cjb open hand or 5 1 is out high with the ball, 4 & 5 start high, 3 & 4 down below the block. 4 & 5 step their man off & lead out hard for the ball. The ball is passed to the open lead then the strong side postman screens for the other post. In this case 5 for 4. 5 now sets an onball screen for 3 and the screen and roll is played. 4 screens and looks to step in for the dump from penetration. The weakside player spots up looking for the skip pass & shot. Another start to this set is for 5 to screen for 3 immediately & the screen & rol play is used. Again the other post steps to the gap looking for the dump pass off penetration. The weakside player spots up looking for the skip pass & shot. 8

Another start to this series is for the 1 man to push the leading wing out by dribbling over to the wing. The posts will the perform either of the previous actions to come out for the screen & roll play. The other post will step to the gap, the weakside players spot up looking for the skip pass & shot. Cjb power On the call power a post player 4 will step out & give 1 an onball screen. 2 & 3 get wide & low. 1 dribbles to the wing. 4 rolls to the basket. 5 steps out for the reversal pass. 1 reverses the ball to 5 then runs hard at 5 looking for the hand off, screen & roll action. (5 can use the 1 dribble hand off to 1.) 1 dribbles toward the wing. 5 dives to the basket 3 lifts as if to receive the ball. 4 flashes to the top of the key. 9

3 makes a hard back cut looking for the backdoor pass, if not 3 then gets wide to the opposite side. 1 reverses the ball to 4. 2 now makes a hard basket cut looking for the pass from 4, if not 4 gets wide to the low corner. 3 lifts. 4 passes to 3 & the on ball screen & roll action is played. 10

Cjb sob 3 takes the ball out of bounds. 4 & 5 start inside 1 & 2. 4 screens 2 who cuts hard to base corner, 4 flares high to weakside. 5 screens 1 who leads to receive the ball & 5 rolls to the low post. 1 passes to 4. 2 makes a quick flex cut off 5 looking for the pass from 4. 5 will post looking for the possible pass from 4. 3 steps into the weakside spot up shot. Cjb turnouts 4 & 5 start above the block 2 & 3 start low & run turnout cuts off the post screens. The 2 & 3 can also decide to stop their cuts & double back to the side they started. 2 & 3 may also screen for each other then use the post screens for turnouts.these cuts are made at pace. 1 passes to one of the leading wing players, in this case the 3. 11

The 4 man now sets an on ball screen & roll for the 2 man. 5 steps to the gap looking for the dump off penetration. 3 & 1 are spotting up for the skip pass. An alternate start after the turnout cuts may be for the 1 to dribble the wing man out. The 2 will cut hard looking for the ball, if the ball is not passed 2 will continue through getting wide and low into the reciever spot. When 1 gets to the wing 4 will set an on ball screen to run the screen & roll action Fc barcelona - 1 v 1 + passers FC Barcelona U16 Boys 1 v 1 FULLCOURT + PASSERS O1 starts on offence and D1 on defence under the basket. Have a passer on one side of the back court & one on the other in the front court. Offence dribbles toward the 1st reciever, defence plays trying to stop offence making or receiving passes, ball pressure is a main focus. Repeat this to the opposite side. On receiving the ball back from the 2nd passer we play 1 on 1 until a score or stop. Same as previous diagram but start with the coach on the wing & the players will start with a screen action. 18

Fcb jr 4 lane pass & replace 4 lines on the baseline with the basketballs starting on the lines at the edge of the key. This is a drill done in pairs using opposite sides of the floor, work one side then the other. The passer on the low edge of the key (2) passes to the wide player 2 lines across (4). this player leads to the high wing to receive the pass. 2 now sprints up the lane and turns at the F/T area to receive the ball back. 2 now drives toward the hoop varying taking the shot or passing to the relocating wing (4). 4 relocates high or low looking for the next pass & shot. The next group 1 & 3 copy the drill on the opposite side & the drill is continuous. Fcb jr blockout drill 3 players line up on either side of the court. The first player in the line will be the defender. The second player has the ball and will shoot. The third player will crash the boards as the ball is shot & the first player must block that player out. If the offence gets the ball, play 1 on 1. If the defender gets it the drill is over. Shooter becomes defender. Rebounder shooter. Defender to end of line. Fcb jr blockout drill 2 The defender starts with the ball & takes 1 dribble then passes to the player marked 1. 1 then skips the ball across court to the wing (2). The defender quickly swings around to face up to the 1. The wing (2) player shoots the ball as soon as they recieve it. The defender now blocks out 1 & they play until the defence comes up with the ball or 1 scores. Rotation is D to 1, 1 to 2, 2 to D. 19

Fcb jr boxout to full crt 3on3 6 spots are loaded around the 3 point line. The ball is passed quickly from one player to the next around the 3 point line until it gets to the last player who shoots the ball upon receiving it. As the 1st player passes the ball they will sprint to block out the 4th player. The 2nd boxes out the 5th, the 3rd boxes out the 6th. After the block out we play, if the offence retains the ball they try to score. After a score or a block out & rebound we want the ball sent up the floor as quickly as possible for a 3 on 3 transition game. Rotae each player 1 spot each time. Fcb jr cuttoff slide Start Offence out high with a ball & a defender guarding the offence. Offence dribbles the ball to the hat with the defence channelling the offence to the side. When they get to the hat the defence makes a hard cut off slide to stop the offence dead. Have the offensive player move the ball from side to side for a 3-5 second count whilst the defender aggressively traces the ball calling "dead, dead, dead". Advance this to the offence trying to score but can only attack from the corner below the hats. Use both sides of the floor and swap offence to defence when coach determines. 20

Fcb jr full crt 1on1 defence Start with 1 offensive player & 1 defender under the basket. Fcb jr pass, drive & pitch Line 4 players up along the baseline as shown. The post player steps in & tosses the ball upin the air or of the backboard, cathes it & takes a retreat dribble out of the key. The opposite wide base player leads to the wing spot and the post skips the ball to the wing. The wing player squares up looking at the shot. The post now flashes to the free throw line and the wing passes the ball back to the post player. The post player drives to the basket. Progression of this drill is for the wing to make a flare move to the base or to the elbow & the driving post man will kick it out for the shot. the post player must present anotheer target after the pass. 21

Fcb jr post feed & kick Ball starts on either wing & is skipped across to the other side afte the player make a V cut into a lead. Passer now cuts hard to the low post. The ball carrier now make a dribble move to feed the playert posting up. After passing into the post this player now relocates quickly to the elbow for a possible pass back & shot. Alternate the posting player making a move to a shot & cutter taking the shot. Fcb transition to half & play Play transition to half passing the ball with no dribbles. 22

When the ball gets to the half player must slap the ball on the ground then we can play 5 on 5 either with no restrictions or with rules as coach demands. Fuen labrada - 2 man closeout Defenders start at the bottom of the backboard side by side. 1 offensive player out high & the other in the deep corner. Drill starts with a pass to the coach. On this pass the outside defender closes out the high offence. The ball is quickly passed on to the corner & the Inside defender closes this player out, Play 2 on 2 until a score or a stop and progress to next step on page 2. After the score or stop the defence takes the ball to play full court 2 on 2 until a score or stop. Next group is up and running the drill again. Other players return to start. 23

Fuen labrada - defend space In this drill we set 2 hats approximately 2-3 metres apart. The defenders goal is to stop the Offence cutting through the gates, they do this by being in stance and countering the Offences moves by cutting them off. Players can use the body to check the cut through the gates. Defence wants the Offence to go outside the gates. Whichever player wins the battle once the Offence gets through or around the gates the coach will pass the ball and the players play 1 on 1 to a score or a stop. Fuen labrada - defend the hat One on One - Defend the Hat. This is a great drill for developing the defence. Place 1 hat on each wing. Line players up at the centre line & have 1 player on D the other on O. The objective of this game is for the defence to stop the Offence from touching the hat (chair, etc.) with their hand. Defence must do all they can to stay between the ball and the target. Once the offence touches the first hat they try to dribble as quickly as possible across to touch the second hat. Again the defender scrambles and tries to deny the Offence from doing this. After touching the second hat the offence attacks the basket trying to score. Defence of course tries to stop this Start the next 2 players after the score or stop. Fuen labrada - dribble passes Players in pairs face each other lined up across the court at the sideline. Player with the ball take 2 or 3 dribble and makes the one hand push pass to their partner. After the pass they return to the sideline quickly ready to receive the pass from their partner. The drill continues from side to side. Different passes can be added to the drill, vary which hand is used if using the one hand pass from the dribble. 24

Fuen labrada - dribble retreat Start player at centre court with a ball. Player drives at the lower hat with speed & uses the retreat dribble causing separation from the hat. When the player reaches the high hat the player takes off with speed to take the jump shot at the foul line area. This can be progressed to 1 on 1. As previous with the retreat dribble action but now add a second player as a receiver. The ball handler passes to the receiver who shoots the ball. As previous with the retreat dribble action. The ball handler passes to the receiver & relocates. The ball is passed back to the dribbler for the shot. This can be progressed to 2 on 2. 25

Fuen labrada - dribble shoot Line players up around 3 point line with a ball. Players make 1-2 dribble moves & shoot. Players rebound their own ball & either pass it to the next in line or dribble to the next spot to repeat. Coach can make it competitive by playing to a score. Coach can also add a defender & make the drill competitive. If there are multiples going at once restrict players to their 3rd of the court. Fuen labrada - dribble slide Players start at the point spot with their own ball. Have players use a defensive slide movement whilst dribbling the ball with their outside hand. Players turn the corner when they reach the hat to attack the basket for the drive or the jumpshot. Player rebounds their own shot & rejoins the line. Fuen labrada - hat dribbling Players line up on the centre line, coach is in the low post. Hats are placed randomly anywhere on floor. The player leads in any direction at all & the coach passes the ball to the player. On receiving the ball the player must dribble to the nearest hat, make a dribble move at that hat, dribble to any of the other hats, make another dribble move & drive to the basket for the lay-up or jump shot. The player rebounds their own shot, passes the ball to the coach & returns to the centre to repeat the drill. dribble moves can be retreat, between legs, reverse, behind back, crossovers, multiple combinations, etc. 26

This is the same drill going to different hats, Coach can make it 3 or 4 hat moves prrior to shooting. Fuen labrada - reach dribble This was an interesting drill where the players dribble the floor, reach across their body with the non dribbling hand to cross the ball over. The dribble then continues until the next crossover point when the player reaches across the body with the non dribbling hand to cross the ball over again & continue dribbling. so it continues down the court until the drive or the shot. Players return to the beginning & repeat the drill. This would be a drill out of the norm but may improve bilateral ball handling. Fuen labrada - spacing drill This is a simple spacing, passing & cutting drill. Players do not have set rules as such but must keep the wings & point spots occupied without crowding the same spot. Each time a player fills a position they should be in a ready to receive & shoot stance. If the ball is not moved within a 2 count the Offence must make a move. following are some movement examples. Set players up 3 on 0. Have the point player dribble the wing out. strong side wing can cut into post & clear out to weakside. Weak wing can replace point. This player can also decide to dive to the basket after coming high & the weakside player can replace. 27

If the ball is reversed through the point to the wing the point player can basket cut. If the wing 2 dribbles high the cutter 3 can replace this player. If not 3 can go opposite. 1 can cut to the basket & out to the other side of the court, 1 can cut & replace themselves also. As soon as the coach is satisfied with the acquired spacing concepts add defenders to play 3 on 3 Fuena labrada - 3 on 2 break The drill starts 3 v 2. 1, 2 & 3 on offence v triangle 4 & triangle 5 on defence. Box 6 & box 7 are the outlet players who will be offence going the other way. With triangle 8 & 9 waiting on defence at the other end. Their are 2 spare players in this drill (waiting at the other end as outlet players). On the change of possesion - WHICHEVER of the 5 players on the court grab the rebound (or steal) in this case triangle 5. Triangle 5, Waiting players shown as Box 6 & 7 become offence & play 3 v 2 down the other end against triangle 8 & 9. The drll continues end to end in the same sequence. 28

Joventat - 1 v 1 fullcourt Joventat Barcelona Juniors 1 v 1 FULLCOURT + PASSERS Start with 1 offensive player & 1 defender under the basket. Joventat - sideline play Joventat Barcelona SIDELINE PLAY O3 takes the ball out of bounds. O4 & O5 start ballside of O1 & O2. O4 screens O2 who cuts hard to base corner, O4 flares high to weakside. O5 screens O1 who leads to receive the ball & O5 rolls to the low post. Joventat Barcelona SIDELINE PLAY O1 passes to O4. O2 makes a quick flex cut off O5 looking for the pass from O4. O5 will post looking for the possible pass from O4. O3 steps into the corner spot up shot. 29

Joventat - ucla cuts series Joventat Barcelona UCLA CUTS SERIES Have a player at the point with a ball & a defender. The defender gives best effort at all times.. Place a player at the wing spot as a passer. Ball is passed to the wing & the offence makes a hard UCLA cut to the basket trying to beat the defender to the outside. The ball is passed to the cutter & 1 on 1 is played until a score or stop. Joventat Barcelona UCLA CUT SERIES same set up as previous Ball is passed to the wing, defence jumps to the ball & the offence makes a hard UCLA speed cut to the basket with hand extended looking to slip behind the defender for the pass. Progress this to the offence running at the defender, hitting & spinning off the defender looking to beat them to the basket for the pass. The ball is passed to the cutter & 1 on 1 is played until a score or stop. Joventat Barcelona UCLA CUT SERIES same as previous entry Ball is passed to the wing and the offence makes a speed cut to the basket trying to beat the defender. If the ball is not passed in the wing player dribbles to the top of the key & the cutter leads out hard for the ball with the defence applying denial pressure. The ball is passed to the cutter & 1 on 1 is played until a score or stop. 30

Joventat 2 v 0 reciever series Joventat Barcelona Juniors 2 v O RECIEVER PRINCIPLES Set up 2 lines behind the markers, 1 line has basketballs. 1 player passes the ball across court and sprints to the deep corner. On dribble penetration he cuts to the basket for the dump pass or rebound. Work on different types of finishes. Can use a hop step shot, jump stop shot, step around floater, reverse layup, etc. Joventat Barcelona Juniors 2 v O RECIEVER PRINCIPLES Here the player passes to the opposite wing, the wing drives to the basket and the passer relocates to the deep corner receiver spot. The driving player makes the long pass and often uses the leap in the air leaning pass along the baseline. Joventat Barcelona Juniors 2 v O RECIEVER PRINCIPLES The pass is made to the opposite wing & the wing drives to the basket hard but pulls up at the edge of the key to dump the ball to the flashing player. As soon as the pass is made the passer quickly cuts toward the low reciever spot then flashes high to the area just inside the free throw line for the dump. 31

Joventat lateral dribble Joventat Barcelona LATERAL DRIBBLE Players start on the baseline corner and using a "lateral slide dribble" dribble to the top of the circle around the 3pt arc. The dribble ends at the hat and the player drives hard to the basket for a lay up. Progression of this can be for the players to make 1 or 2 changes of direction at the end of the hat, with a cross over, between the legs, reverse spin, behind the back, etc, then drive to the basket. Joventat Barcelona LATERAL DRIBBLE Another progresion of this drill can be to add different finishes to the lay ups. Players can use the revers lay up, a large 1-2 side step action, a jump stop to a move, running hook shots, etc. Joventat live press break Joventat Barcelona PRESSBREAK LIVE BALL O4 takes the ball out. O1 leads ball side, O2 is opposite and O3 is the extra pressure release in the mid court. O1 tries to beat his player with a step & speed, when he gets the ball O2 will bust over to the strong side of the court before the half way line looking for the quick kick ahead. 32

Joventat Barcelona PRESSBREAK LIVE BALL If O1 cannot receive the ball O2 will break across the key with a step & speed to receive the ball. O1 will now push ahead on the strong side before the half way line looking for the quick kick ahead pass from O2. O3 is the pressure releas option if O1 & O2 cannot receive the ball. O3 will lead with speed looking for the ball. Joventat offence - doubles Joventat Barcelona OFFENCE - DOUBLES O4 & O5 start above the block O2 & O3 start low & run turnout cuts off the post screens. The O2 & O3 can also decide to stop their cuts & double back to the side they started. O2 & O3 may also screen for each other then use the post screens for turnouts.these cuts are made at pace. O1 passes to one of the leading wing players, in this case the O3. Joventat Barcelona OFFENCE - DOUBLES The ballside post O4 sets an on ball screen & roll for O2. O5 steps to the gap looking for the dump off penetration. O3 & O1 are spotting up for the skip pass. 33

Joventat Barcelona OFFENCE - DOUBLES An alternate start after the turnout cuts may be for O1 to dribble the wing man out. O2 will cut hard looking for the ball, if the ball is not passed, O2 will continue through to the weakside corner. When O1 gets to the wing O4 will set an on ball screen to run the screen & roll action. Joventat offence - hand 5 Joventat Barcelona OFFENCE - HAND 5 Set Up: 1-4 Box Set Up O3 & O4 lead out for the ball from the low post area. O1 passes to the open wing player O3. Which ever wing gets the ball, the strong side post O5 screens away for the opposite post O4. Joventut Barcelona OFFENCE - HAND 5 O4 comes off the screen into a ball screen for O3, who makes a fake drive off the ball screen. O4 slips or rolls to the basket looking for the pass from O3. 34

Joventut Barcelona OFFENCE - HAND 5 O5 now comes to set a second screen & roll play for O3. O3 comes off the screen looking for O5 rolling or or O1 & O2 spaced on the weakside for a catch & shoot/drive opportunity. O4 has relocated to a receiver spot just below the free throw line. Joventut Barcelona OFFENCE - HAND 5 Dribble Entry same set with a dribble entry O1 and push O3. Joventat offence - power Joventat Barcelona OFFENCE - POWER O4 will step out & give O1 an onball screen. O2 & O3 get wide & low. O1 dribbles to the wing. O4 rolls to the basket. O5 steps out for the reversal pass. 35

Joventat Barcelona OFFENCE - POWER O1 reverses the ball to O5 then runs hard at O5 looking for the hand off, screen & roll action. O1 dribbles toward the wing. O5 dives to the basket O3 lifts as if to receive the ball. O4 flashes to the top of the key. Joventat Barcelona OFFENCE - POWER O3 makes a hard back cut looking for the backdoor pass, if not O3 then gets wide to the opposite side. O1 reverses the ball to O4. Joventat Barcelona OFFENCE - POWER O2 now makes a hard basket cut looking for the pass from O4, if not O4 gets wide to the low corner. O3 lifts. 36

Joventat Barcelona OFFENCE - POWER O4 passes to O2 then follows with an on ball screen & roll action. Real madrid - 2 ball dribble Players line up on the baseline with 2 balls each. Players drible the 2 balls around the hats as shown using a variety of methods. Two balls bouncing together, alternating dribbles, 2 ball crossover, reverse spin dribble, etc are some methods used. Players work up the line & back down the other side to rejoin line & pass balls to next player if necessary. Focus on good dribbling stance, eyes up, good ball control. Real madrid - 2 screens play 1 passes to 2 & flares wide. 5 screens across for 4. 4 comes off the screen & out to set an on-ball screen for 2. 37

2 drives hard at the 4 screen but retreat dribbles hard to put the defender off. 4 rolls to the basket & we look to feed 4 if open. 4 continues to the weakside block if not open. Immediately upon the 2 players retreat dribble 5 sprints to set an onball screen action again for 2. 2 drives off the screen looking for scoring or dishing opportunities. 5 rolls to the basket or short corner area. 4 steps to the gap for the dump pass. 1 & 3 float in the ready stance waiting for the dump & shot also. Real madrid - d fight thru Place 2 hats 3 metres apart so the defence can slide back & forth repeatedly facing the sideline. Place another2 hats1.5 metres apart at the edge of the key. between these hats we place a coach with a bump pad. Have a coach or player out high with a ball. Place an offensive player at the wing. D slides between the hats until high coach calls "Go". The defender now turns & must get through the gates & the coach with the bump pad 7 on to the split line. Coach then passes the ball to the wing, the defender closes out & we play 1 on 1 until a score or a stop. 38

Real madrid - dribble&closeout Place 1 Offensive player in the corner with 2 balls & 1 defender under the basket. Offence dribbles the 2 balls up to the wing then drives toward the basket. Defence closes the offence out. Offence retreat dribles with both balls out high. Defence retreats to the Basket. The same is repeated at the elbows of the key by the Offence & the Defence. Once the Offence gets to the opposite wing they pass 1 of the balls to the coach & then drives to score. Defence again closes out & we play until a score or stop. Real madrid - f/t blockout Simple drill of having a player shoot the F/T & the defender must block the Offensive rebounder out. Have the defender pushing with the rear foot & stepping across the Offence with the high foot. Defender must make & maintian strong body contact to blockout. Play 1 on 1 until Defence comes up with the ball or Offence score. Use both sides of the key. Note: If the Free throw goes in play on as if it missed. Real madrid - lane defence Have the Offensive players dribble up the lanes trying to beat the defence. Defence must contain the man whilst applying pressure trying to steal the ball. If defence steals it give it back & keep working until the half way line. At the half way line players swap roles. Continue drill until coach calls stop. this drill is done at a fast hard work rate. 39

Real madrid - screen rescreen This drill is a high screening drill where the screener is low and wide but ready to sprint out of the screen to rescreen the defender who goes to the low side of the screen. The important part of this drill is that the screener quickly reactsaa to get ahead of the defender so that a legal screen can be set for the second time. an alternative way to run this is for the Screener to start with their back to the Ball handler & defender on the first screen then sprinting to set the second screen facing the defender. Real madrid - slide to 1 on 1 1 Offensive player on the low corner of one side of the key & 1 Defensive player on the other facing each other. Defence slides up to the elbow with good technique. Offence passes to the Defender at the elbow 7 slides up to the other elbow. The Defender now passes across to the Offence & scramble to cut the Offence off. Offence can attack immediately upon receiving the ball. Play 1 on 1 until a score or a stop. Real madrid hook shots Real Madrid U16 Boys POST HOOK SHOTS Players toss ball out & chase it down to shoot a hook shot. Return to the opposite starting point & repeat until coach is happy. Teaching Points: - inside pivot foot - backside to baseline on catch - ball on outside shoulder - heaqd snap look middle first 40

Real madrid pass closeout play Real Madrid U16 Boys CLOSEOUT DRILLS Defender passes the ball to the wing. The ball is quickly passed on to the player at the top of the key. The defender closes out the top player as quickly as possible making sure they are closing out with short sharp stutter steps. From here the players play 1 on 1 until a score or a stop. Rotation is clockwise or defender repeats until they make a stop. Real madrid post up play Real Madrid U16 Boys OFFENCE - MOTION ENTRY O1 dribbles down the outside lane to pass to O2. O2 passes into the post O5. O5 skips across to the opposite wing O3 (pivoting on the insdie foot to the middle). O5 upscreens O4 who dives into the post. O5 pops out high. Real Madrid U16 Boys OFFENCE - MOTION ENTRY O2 now sets an upscreen for O5. O5 comes off looking for the lob pass from O3. O1 relocates to keep spacing. 41

Real Madrid U16 Boys OFFENCE - MOTION ENTRY If the lob pass is not on the ball is quickly reversed through O2 to O1. O5 holds the post. O4 flashes high to be another passing option and the high / low game with O5.
