Kaleb Johnson poured in a career-high 24 points and Jessie Govan continued his early season success as he was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second-consecutive week following another double-double (23P/14R). Govan s 21.0 ppg, which ranks third in the BIG EAST Conference, leads the team followed by Marcus Derrickson (14.3 ppg) and Johnson (13.3 ppg). Govan s 14.3 rpg tops the conference list and the Blue & Gray lead the BIG EAST in rebounding, averaging 45.3 as a squad. Mulmore leads the team with 4.7 apg. Richmond comes into the game with a 1-4 overall record, claiming the first of three games at the Cayman Islands Classic. The Spiders defeated UAB, 63-50, before falling to No. 12 Cincinnati (75-48) and Louisiana-Lafayette (82-76). 1

For the second-consecutive game, the Hoyas had five players in double figures. Johnson had a team-best 24 points behind 9-of-13 shooting including 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. He added six boards, four assists and a block in 34 minutes. It was Govan s third double-double (23P, 14R) in as many games and the first of the season for Derrickson (14P, 10R). Georgetown shot 51.7 percent from the field and hit 47.4 from 3-point land. The Hoyas outrebounded Maryland Eastern Shore, 48-26, and limited the Hawks to 32.3 percent shooting for the game. 6 ROUT THE MOUNT Bolstered by five players in double figures, Georgetown coasted to a win over Mount St. Mary s at Capital One Arena on Nov. 15. Recording his second double-double in as many games this season, Jessie Govan led the Hoyas with 20 points and 14 rebounds en route to the 34-point win. For the game, Georgetown shot 57.4 percent from the floor and a 50.0 percent from 3-point land. Dominating the stat sheet, the Hoyas scored 33 fast break points to Mount St. Mary s seven and managed 48 points in the paint to the Mount s 28. A balanced scoring effort, Georgetown received 35 points from the bench. Govan led the Hoyas with 20 points followed by Jahvon Blair s 19, 15 from Jagan Mosely and 14 apiece from Kaleb Johnson and Jamorko Pickett. Govan s 14 rebounds led the squad while Johnson and Pickett chipped in seven each. Blair and Mosely each tallied five assists. OPENING ACT Georgetown defeated the Jacksonville Dolphins in their season opener on November 12 by a score of The Hoyas were led by their junior frontcourt of Jessie Govan and Marcus Derrickson. Govan posted a double-double with 20 points and a career-high 15 rebounds and four blocks while Derrickson also posted 20 points along with eight rebounds. Jagan Moseley recorded nine points and three assists in his sophomore debut while Jonathan Mulmore began his senior campaign by scoring five points and dishing out seven assists. Georgetown went into halftime with a lead. The Dolphins looked to come out aggressive in the second half and erase their 16-point deficit, but a 15-4 run sparked by Govan and Derrickson countered back. Georgetown s largest lead (24) came late in the second half and the Blue & Gray shot 45.6 percent from the field for the game. NEXT UP Georgetown returns home to host Maine on November 28. Tipoff is at 8:30 p.m. ET. AGAINST THE ATLANTIC 10 Georgetown men s basketball has an all-time record of against schools from the Atlantic 10 Conference, including a 6-2 mark against the University of Richmond. The last time the Hoyas faced a MEAC opponent was a win over Coppin State on Nov. 30, 2016 within the friendly confines of Capital One Arena. 7 BIG EAST HONORS Jessie Govan was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second consecutive week after averaging 21.5 points, 14.0 rebounds and shooting 62.5 percent from the field in Georgetown s 2-0 week. This is Govan s third time earning BIG EAST honors as he was named to the weekly honor roll on December 16, CLEANING THE GLASS Jessie Govan grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds in the season opener vs. Jacksonville. His previous high was 11 rebounds vs. Coppin State on 11/30/16. Like Ewing, Jordan returns to his alma mater as he played for Butler from WATCH FOR JESSIE Jessie Govan is one of 20 NCAA Division I centers on the watch list for the 2018 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced on October 20. Named after Hall of Famer, three-time NCAA champion, six-time NBA champion and six-nba MVP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the yearly award recognizes the top center in Division I men s college basketball. A national committee consisting of top college basketball personnel selected the 20 preseason candidates. The Abdul-Jabbar Award Committee will narrow down its candidates to 10 by mid-february, with the five finalists announced in March. The winner of the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award will be crowned at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show on Friday, April 6 in Los Angeles, Calif. IN THE NBA When the National Basketball Association season started, several former Georgetown men s basketball players were on rosters for the season. Former Hoya All-American Otto Porter Jr., the 2013BIG EAST Player of the Year and the No. 3 pick in the NBA Draft (Washington Wizards), began his fifth season as a professional in DC. Another former All-American, Greg Monroe, began his third season with the Milwaukee Bucks and just recently got traded to Phoenix. He started his career with the Detroit Pistons. Former BIG EAST Player of the Year and All-American Jeff Green plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Green was originally drafted by the Boston Celtics and played in Seattle before the team moved to Oklahoma City, where he played through

10 PATRICK EWING HEAD COACH FIRST SEASON GEORGETOWN C 85 Georgetown University announced on April 3, 2017 that Patrick Ewing (C 85) was named its new head men s basketball coach. Ewing comes back to Georgetown after serving for 15 years as an assistant head coach in the NBA. He served as an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards ( ), Houston Rockets ( ) and Orlando Magic ( ) and most recently as the associate head coach for the Charlotte Hornets. Ewing is recognized as the greatest men s basketball player to ever don the Blue & Gray. He was selected as one of the top 50 players in the history of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Ewing was a three-time consensus First Team All-America selection (1983, 1984, 1985) on the Hilltop, leading the Hoyas to three NCAA Championship Game appearances and the 1984 National Championship title. He was named Most Outstanding Player of the 1984 NCAA Championships. His play propelled Georgetown into one of the most respected basketball programs in the country. During his illustrious career, Ewing had the opportunity to play for, and coach, alongside some of the great coaches in basketball, including Pat Riley (New York Knicks), Jeff Van Gundy (Knicks, Houston Rockets), Stan Van Gundy (Orlando Magic), Tom Thibodeau (Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves) and Steve Clifford (Charlotte). He was the first pick in the 1985 NBA Draft and went on to earn NBA Rookie of the Year honors in 1986 with the New York Knicks after averaging 20.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Ewing scored 24,815 points during his 17-year NBA career to go along with 11,607 rebounds. Ewing spent 15 years with the Knicks and made 10-consecutive NBA All-Star appearances. Ewing averaged 21.0 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.45 blocks in 1,183 career games and was a member of the NBA s 50th Anniversary Team. He remains the New York Knicks all-time leader in points, rebounds, blocked shots, steals and field goals made.
