10 GREG GRAHAM HEAD COACH Record at Boise State: Overall Record: Education Univesity of Oregon Bachelor of Science-Biology University of Dayton Masters-Educational Administration Coaching Experience 22-Present Boise State Head Coach Oregon Assistant Coach Saint Mary s (Calif.) Assistant Coach San Diego State Assistant Coach San Jose State Assistant Coach Western New Mexico Head Coach New Mexico Assistant Coach Oregon Assistant Coach With a conference championship, the most wins in a single basketball season in Boise State history, his team s appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and two coach of the year awards to his credit in 27-8, last season was one of the high points in Bronco head coach Greg Graham s career. Not only did Graham, who enters his seventh season at BSU, lead the Broncos to a share of the regularseason Western Athletic Conference title, but he also guided them to a memorable run through the WAC Tournament culminated by one of the best and most exciting men s basketball contests in school history in the championship game and their first trip the NCAA Tournament since Based on Boise State s stellar performance in 27-8,which included school records in wins (25) and road victories (2), he was named WAC Coach of the Year and the National Association of Basketball Coaches District 3 Coach of the Year. The WAC Tournament, hosted by defending champion New Mexico State, was an exhilarating highlight to one of the best seasons in Bronco basketball history. After the Broncos earned a share of the regular-season title, they traveled Las Cruces, N.M., where the magic began with an 8-74 win over Hawaii in the opening round. Boise State then defeated Utah State in the semifinals to advance to the championship game against host New Mexico State. And if the Broncos 7-2 triple overtime thriller over the Aggies in the championship game wasn t the greatest men s basketball game in Boise State history, it is certainly high on the list. Led by Reggie Larry s 3 points and 6 rebounds and Matt Nelson s 26 points, the Broncos outlasted the Aggies and reached the NCAAs for the first time in 4 years with their gritty win on New Mexico State s home court. The title game between BSU and New Mexico State was tied at 7 at the end of regulation, at 8 after the first overtime and at 92 after two OTs. Tyler Tiedeman scored 7 points, Matt Bauscher added 4, and Anthony Thomas had 3 for the Broncos in the title game. During their three wins in the WAC Tournament, the Broncos averaged 9.7 points per game and shot over 5 percent from the floor and the 3-point line. Boise State s season continued the following week with a trip Birmingham, Ala., and an appearance in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Although BSU lost 79-6 to Louisville in the opening round, the 27-8 season will go down as one of the best in Bronco basketball lore. In addition to ending the year at 25-9 for the most wins in the program s history, Boise State finished the season third in the country in field goal percentage (5.8 percent), seventh in assists per game (7.8/game), th in scoring (8.4 ppg) and 2th in 3-point field goal percentage (39.3 percent). The 27-8 Broncos also set new school marks for points scored (2,767), field goals made (994), 3-point field goals made (27), and assists (65). Individually, the Broncos reaped the rewards of a successful season both on the court and in the classroom. In addition to Graham s two coach of the year honors, Larry was named first-team All- WAC, U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-District VII, and MVP of the WAC Tournament. Nelson earned second-team All-WAC recognition and claimed a spot on the WAC All-Tournament team. Bauscher claimed All-Tournament honors and was on the WAC All-Defensive team. Academically, the Broncos also put together a great year with a league-high four players earning WAC All-Academic recognition and the team combining for a league-leading Academic Performance Rate (APR) for the second straight season. As a team, Boise State compiled a WAC-best multi-year APR of 954.The APR covers four seasons, stretching from 23-4 to In addition, Nelson was also one of 5 players nationally to be named to the 28 ESPN The Magazine Academic All- America University Division Men s Basketball team. Nelson, a third-team selection, was the first Boise State men s basketball player to ever be honored and just the th Bronco player in any sport. Nelson and fellow senior Bauscher along with sophomore Kurt Cunningham and freshman Paul Noonan all earned a spot on the WAC s All-Academic team. On Feb. 7, 28, Graham joined some select company as Boise State defeated Louisiana Tech 73-6 for his th career win with the Broncos. Graham joined Bobby Dye (23 wins) and Rod Jensen (9 wins) as the only coaches in Boise State history to win games at the school. He increased that total to 8 by the end of the 27-8 season.
