T H E M A T C H U P ABOUT - The Colonials, back in the USCHO top 20 for the eighth time this season, stay on the road this weekend with a trip to Colorado and a rematch with Atlantic Hockey rival Air Force - First-place Robert Morris maintained its fourpoint lead over the rest of the league with a two-game sweep at Holy Cross last weekend. RMU won a pair of one-goal decisions to earn its first road sweep of the season - Four Colonials recorded multiple points in the series at Holy Cross, led by Zac Lynch s four (1g, 3a). The junior from Shaler, Pa., is second on the team in scoring with 28 points (12g, 16a); he has 10 points (4g, 6a) during his current four-game scoring streak - With their 2-1 come-from-behind victory last Saturday, the Colonials set a new team record for conference wins in a season (14). RMU won 13 AHC games in each of the past four years - Brady Ferguson and Cody Wydo scored two goals each in last Friday s 4-3 win, giving RMU 12 multi-goal efforts on the season. Senior Hobey Baker nominee Wydo paces the Colonials with 16 goals and 18 assists, while the freshman Ferguson has 11 goals, the second-most among first-year players in Division I - Last Saturday marked the fifth time in 26 games this season that RMU trailed at the first intermission. While the Colonials had rallied to earn ties on three of those occasions, Saturday was their first win in that situation - FUN FACT: Although the Colonials are second in the nation in shots per game at 36.0, they were credited with just 14 last Friday. Interestingly enough, RMU is 2-0 this season when getting fewer than 20 shots on target N A T I O N A L R A N K I N G S & L E A D E R S CATEGORY RMU AIR FORCE FOR 3.73 (2) 2.41 (41) AGST 2.42 (T-30) 2.96 (51) SCORING MARGIN (6) (45) POWER PLAY 21.3% (11) 17.6% (30) PENALTY KILL 84.6% (24) 85.0% (22) SHOTS ON GOAL 36.0 (2) 28.0 (42) SHOTS ALLOWED 32.7 (49) 28.4 (22) BLOCKED SHOTS 17.2 (1) 11.5 (42) FACEOFFS 50.4% (25) 52.7% (12) PENALTY MINS 11.0 (36) 10.8 (38) SHOOTING %.104 (11).086 (33) SCOUTING AIR FORCE - Riding a six-game winning streak, the fourthplace Falcons welcome RMU to Cadet Ice Arena for the first time since Nov. 16, Air Force has won seven straight games against the Colonials in the thin air of Colorado Springs - The Falcons maintained a slight edge ( ) in the all-time series against the Colonials with a win and a tie at 84 Lumber Arena earlier this season. On Nov. 15, Air Force dealt RMU its first overtime loss in nearly four years, ending a 27-game unbeaten streak in extra time - Prior to its current surge up the Atlantic Hockey standings, Air Force endured a sixgame winless streak (0-5-1) that spanned the semester break. Since then, the Falcons have been one of the hottest teams in the nation, winning four one-goal games in the process - Air Force s attack has shifted into a higher gear during the winning streak, scoring 3.83 goals per game and firing an average of 37 shots. The Falcons top line of Scott Holm, Chad Demers and Cole Gunner has been especially impactful this season, piling up 33 goals and 81 total points - After sophomore goalie Chris Truehl started the first 24 games of the season, freshman Connor Girard has gotten the call in the previous three. Girard has stopped 86 of 91 shots over that span, good for a.945 save percentage and a 1.25 goals-against average M E D I A I N F O RADIO BROADCAST: 1300 AM - The Animal AUDIO STREAM: theanimal1300.com VIDEO STREAM: AtlanticHockey.TV ($) LIVE STATS: GoAirForceFalcons.com CATEGORY RMU AIR FORCE Wydo - 34 Gunner - 30 Wydo - 16 Holm - 14 Wydo - 18 Gunner - 20 PP Wydo - 6 Reid - 5 SH Cope/Wydo - 2 Mackey - 1 PLUS/MINUS 3 players Abood - +5 SHOTS Wydo Gunner - 83 FACEOFFS Dorowicz Reid BLOCKS Golightly - 59 Hrabovsky - 41 SHOOTING % Ferguson Holm SAVE % Shafer Truehl -.895

A sellout crowd at 84 Lumber Arena watched Cody Wydo set the program s career scoring record with a five-point night (3g, 2a), with linemate Scott Jacklin also adding five points (1g, 4a). Wydo and Jacklin tied the RMU single-game high for points, while Jacklin s four helpers matched the most ever by a Colonial in one contest. Zac Lynch (2g, 2a) and Matt Cope (3a) tied career highs for points as well. CODY KEEPS CLIMBING After a program-record 31-goal, 54-point junior year, Hobey Baker Award candidate Cody Wydo has paced RMU s attack once again. The Michigan native, who entered the season as the active Division I leader in goals, has 34 points (16g, 18a) in his first 26 games, the fifth-highest total in the nation. Born in 1734 in Liverpool, England, Robert Morris sailed to the United States with his father when he was 14 years old. Morris became a partner at the import export firm of Willing & Morris where he made his millions. After, he became the spokesman for opposition to the Stamp Act, smuggled arms for the new American army and navy, signed the Declaration of Independence, secured financing often using his personal credit to fight the Revolutionary War and served as a Pennsylvania state senator. He died in Philadelphia on May 8, A BANNER YEAR The year 2014 saw the Colonials rise from the bottom of the Atlantic Hockey Conference to a league title and NCAA Tournament appearance, followed by a historic start to the season. From January to December, RMU went for a.727 points percentage. The Colonials were also the highest-scoring program in the nation over that span, netting 172 goals in 44 games for a potent 3.91 goals-per-game average. KUDOS FROM ATLANTIC HOCKEY The Colonials have not only succeeded on a team-wide basis this season, they ve also earned several individual honors. On top of Cody Wydo and Dalton Izyk each earning Atlantic Hockey monthly awards in October, Daniel Leavens won player of the month for December. RMU has claimed 14 AHC player of the week honors thus far. David Friedmann (Player of the Week), Cody Wydo (Player) and Terry Shafer (Goalie) have won two awards each, while Izyk (Goalie) has three. RUNNING THE GAUNTLET For the first time in program history, the Colonials played three different ranked teams consecutively from Dec Jan. 4. RMU emerged from that grueling stretch with a record, including a 4-2 win over No. 20 Penn State at the Three Rivers Classic and a 2-2 tie with No. 13 Bowling Green outdoors in Toledo. The Colonials also faced No. 14/17 Colgate in the 3RC championship game. ANOTHER SCORING LINE The Colonials boast impressive scoring depth, exemplified by the success of David Friedmann, Brady Ferguson and Daniel Leavens. Since being united on Nov. 1 against RIT, the trio has combined for 54 points (22g, 32a) in 19 games. They were especially prolific from Nov. 21 to Dec. 13, accumulating 11 goals and 27 total points during RMU s five-game unbeaten streak (4-0-1). THE RACE IS ON Zac Lynch and Cody Wydo continue to duel for the program s all-time lead in shorthanded goals. Lynch took the solo lead in that category with his fifth Nov. 22 at American International, but Wydo caught up with a shorthanded tally in RMU s overtime win over Sacred Heart on Dec. 5. Wydo pushed ahead with his sixth career shorty Jan. 23 at Holy Cross - with an assist from Lynch. WHAT A START By winning their first five games of the season, the Colonials not only established the best start in program history, they also matched their longest win streak in 11 years of Division I hockey. In addition, RMU nine-game unbeaten streak to start (7-0-2) matched its longest ever. NEW HEIGHTS IN THE POLLS The Colonials broke into the USCHO.com top 20 on Nov. 3, taking the No. 18 ranking. It was the first time RMU had a number next to its name since RMU bumped up to No. 17 on two occasions during the fall semester, matching an all-time high for the program in any national survey. As of Jan. 26, the Colonials were ranked in eight of the previous 11 USCHO polls. COMING THROUGH LATE Robert Morris scored 57 goals in the third period or overtime last season, the third-highest total in the NCAA. The Colonials have continued that trend through the first 26 games of , outscoring opponents in the final regulation frame or later. AVOIDING THE GOOSE EGG Robert Morris was not shut out in and, prior to the final game of the fall semester, the Colonials had gone 73 games since last getting blanked. That streak, which dated back to Jan. 25, 2013, ended with a 3-0 loss to Mercyhurst on Dec although the Colonials fired 41 shots on goal.

3 M U S K E T S H O T S BUILDING A CLASSIC TRADITION The third-annual Three Rivers Classic was again held at CONSOL Energy Center, home of the NHL s Penguins, on Dec After beating No. 20 Penn State in the first round, RMU came up short in the championship game to No. 14/17 Colgate. Western Michigan also participated in the event. THEY TOOK IT OUTSIDE On Jan. 3, Robert Morris and Bowling Green participiated in an outdoor game at Fifth Third Field in Toledo, Ohio, the home of the Triple-A Mudhens baseball team. On a rainy afternoon, the Colonials scored two goals in the third period to tie the 13th-ranked Falcons 2-2. OWNING OVERTIME With their 2-1 loss to Air Force on Nov. 15, the Colonials saw an incredible streak come to a sudden end. Previously, RMU had gone unbeaten in 27 consecutive overtime games, posting an record in such contests after losing at Canisius in extra time on Nov. 20, BREAKING THROUGH After sophomore defensemen John Rey (40th game) and Rob Mann (14th) netted their first NCAA goals in the season s first month, senior forward David Rigatti scored his first collegiate goal in his 86th RMU game on Oct. 31 against RIT. Freshmen Brady Ferguson, Spencer Dorowicz and Timmy Moore have also recorded their first collegiate goals this season. BROTHERLY LOVE With freshman forward Timmy Moore making his NCAA debut Oct. 25 at Army, he and junior defenseman Evan Moore became the third brother tandem to skate together for the Colonials. The Moores, of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, join Colin and Furman South as well as Dave and Rob Cowan in that club. CENTURY CLUB Forward Jeff Jones played his 100th collegiate game Oct. 11 vs. Lake Superior State, joining fellow seniors Scott Jacklin and Cody Wydo in the century club. Since then, senior David Rigatti and juniors Brandon Denham, Matt Cope, Zac Lynch, Greg Gibson and Evan Moore have followed suit. Tyson Wilson, Chase Golightly and David Friedmann all have a shot to reach that milestone this season. WYDO, IZYK GO BACK TO BACK While the entire team had a terrific October, senior forward Cody Wydo and sophomore goalie Dalton Izyk were honored by Atlantic Hockey on an individual basis. Wydo (6g, 5a) kept up his junior-year pace with 11 points in seven games, while Izyk stopped 97 of 98 shots for a.990 save percentage and a record. Wydo and Izyk also won Player and Goalie of the Month awards in March. ONWARD AND UPWARD The Colonials have finished with a record of.500 or better in four consecutive seasons, going over that span for a.542 points percentage. Prior to the season, RMU won just 69 of its first 208 games (.379 points percentage) at the NCAA Division I level. WELCOME TO THE BIG STAGE It took Robert Morris three tries, but the Colonials advanced to their first NCAA Men s Hockey Tournament after winning the Atlantic Hockey Championship against Canisius. RMU had two previous chances - the 2007 and 09 College Hockey America title games - to earn an automatic bid, but the team fell short in overtime on both occasions. Zac Lynch (Shaler) and David Rigatti (Peters Township) will carry the black and gold flag on this year s team. BATTLE FOR THE BORDER RMU s 26-man roster is split down the middle when it comes to country of origin: 13 Americans and 13 Canadians. 6 HEAD COACH DEREK SCHOOLEY Head coach Derek Schooley has his Colonials primed to take the next step after a major breakthrough in Now in his 11th year in charge of RMU men s hockey, Schooley enters the season with an overall record of Last season, he led the Colonials to their first conference title and inaugural NCAA Tournament appearance. Following the banner year, Schooley signed a four-year contract extension that will keep him in Moon Township through the season. I feel very fortunate to have started something very special from the ground up, Schooley said. Making the NCAA Tournament was very exciting for not only me personally, but for everyone who has been involved in the first decade of RMU hockey. Schooley has been a college hockey coach for 17 seasons, starting with stints as an assistant at Cornell University and the Air Force Academy. In August of 2003, Schooley was named the first head varsity hockey coach in Robert Morris history. Since taking over the program, Schooley has coached 45 players who have signed pro contracts, five players that have taken part in NHL training camps and numerous others that have participated in NHL developmental camps. A native of St. Louis, Mo., Schooley is married to the former Alicia Batson from Middleville, Mich. They are the proud parents of Kaitlyn, Brendan and Taylor. Prior to coming to Robert Morris, Schooley spent five years at the Air Force Academy. He was an assistant coach for four years before spending one season as an associate head coach with Air Force. Before arriving at Air Force, Schooley spent a season as an assistant coach with Cornell during the season. Schooley started his coaching career with the Chicago Freeze of the North American Hockey League in 1997 as an assistant coach and director of scouting.
