1 October Weatherstone/Weatherwood News Letter from the WHA President October is here and those glorious fall colors can't be far behind. It sure is a wonderful time to enjoy all the beautiful color in our neighborhood. I prefer to focus on that and not the season that follows. October also brings Trick or Treat and shorter daylight time... and a little more Brewer baseball. Please note the date and time for Trick or Treat. Keep things safe by following the hints mentioned. In addition, this Thursday evening, October 4th, we will conduct the annual membership meeting for the WHA. The agenda is detailed below. Please note the vacancy for role of Vice President. In addition, we need volunteers for committees such as Community, Safety, and Membership. If you would like to explore any of these opportunities, please send me an at kenbreitwha@gmail.com. A description of the positions can be found in the BYLAWS found on the WHA website. Enjoy the pumpkins, costumes, and colors of the season...and GO Brewers!..
2 Ken Breitenfeldt WHA Annual Meeting - Cocktail on US! The WHA annual meeting is set for Thursday, Oct. 4th, 7PM, at the Preserve at Deer Creek Golf Course club house on Sunnyslope Road, near Coldspring Rd. The meeting covers election of officers, tentative approval of our next year's budget, and other reports. Here is the agenda; 7:00 Welcome - Board Introduction 7:05 Alderman Dennis Horbinski Report - New subdivision, City Center 7:20 Minutes - Review of activities/ Financials/ Old business 7:35 Speaker, New Berlin Police Department, home safety tips. 7: Budget and Plans 8:05 Election of Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer) 8:10 Adjourn - Beverage on WHA. Nominations for all board positions can be made from the floor. Incumbents for President, Treasurer and Secretary have agreed to run again. Currently, the position of Vice President is in need of a candidate. This positions "Will assist the President as needed, and perform assigned duties and preside in President's absence." This person provides another board member to give input and direction for the WHA. We encourage you to come to the annual meeting, meet the board, and offer suggestions for ways the neighborhood can improve. We are always looking for volunteers to host an event - a
3 chili cook off, book club, etc. - we'd love you to get involved. And have a drink on us. BTW.. plenty of TV's in case there is a certain game you want to see that night. Trick or Treat reminders Trick or treating in New Berlin is Oct. 28th from 4:00-7:00. A few reminders. Remind children not to cut through back yards or alleys Advise children that they should never enter strangers homes. Set a specific time limit for your children to be out on Halloween night Instruct children not to stray from their group Carry flash light Keep pets inside your home, or other safe place on Halloween night. Keep front porch lights on for trick or treaters Have a safe and Happy Halloween! WHA Directory Watch out for the WHA Directory, which will come out by the end of October. The directories are a great way to connect with neighbors and find out about kids who offer services in the neighborhood. Directories go to all dues-paying WHA residents. New Bench If you haven't been by the park lately, a new park bench has been added, next to the Lending Library. Thank you to Bonnie Gauger for all the work maintaining a book selection at this library. Thank you to Mark Mader for working with City of New Berlin to bring this nice addition to our park! Grab a book, sit down and enjoy a beautiful Fall day!
4 Message from Your Alderman Please view this update from your Alderman Dennis Horbinski. Save the Date - Turkey Trot - Nov. 22nd Mark your calendars for the annual WHA Turkey Trot! Before we stuff our bellies on Thanksgiving day, let's come together and enjoy a walk or run with our families through our beautiful neighborhood. We will start the Turkey Trot promptly at 9:00 am at Weatherstone Park. The route will loop through the subdivision and end at Weatherstone Park. This will be a family friendly event. The route will be on the roads of the subdivision and the route will be marked. Afterward there will be juice and doughnuts in the park. If you are unable to participate in the trot, please wave as the trotters pass your house! Hope to see you all there, Turkey hats welcome.
