4 Guest Speaker Simon van Velthooven Simon is a New Zealand Track Racing Cyclist and America's Cup Sailor. Simon has also prioritised his education by completing a degree in Agri-Commerce majoring in Commercial Property Valuation At 23 years of age, Simon won New Zealand's first Sprint Cycling medal in the Men's Keirin at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He has also won multiple World Championship and Commonwealth Games medals and was the 2012 World Cup Champion in the 1km Time Trial and Keirin events. In 2010 and again in 2014, he won a silver in the 1000m Time Trial and Keirin at the Commonwealth Games. Simon joined Emirates Team New Zealand in 2015 and was one of the original cyclors that helped develop, test, and race the revolutionary boat. He was a huge asset to the team that won the 2017 America's Cup. The cycling system on the boat was one part of many, that differentiated the team from the rest and allowed them to be competitive against better funded and well established teams in Bermuda, at the 35th Americas Cup.
