LAST MATCH Lansing United defeated the Fort Pitt Regiment 2-1 on July 20 to win the Midwest Region. Leigh and Gabe Mateo scored for United while Zach made a season high nine saves in the victory. s goal came three minutes into the match, the quickest goal ever scored by Lansing. Fort Pitt came charging back as Neco Brett scored in the 35th minute to even the game. Tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, the game went into two 15-minute periods of extra time. Mateo scored in the 111th minute to seal the victory for United. NPSL NATIONAL PLAYOFFS With the Midwest Region victory, United moved on to the NPSL National Playoffs powered by Mitre. In the semifinals, the club will take on the New York Red Bulls U-23 squad. The other semifinal will feature Chattanooga FC against the Sacramento Gold (Saturday night). TRIP OUT EAST United s semifinal match will be the club s first trip out to the east coast. The furthest east they had previously been was Pennsylvania for matches against Erie and Fort Pitt. The club will stay in New Jersey over the weekend. English Premier League squad Arsenal will play the New York Red Bulls first-team on Saturday night in New Jersey. ABOUT NYRB U-23 The development team for MLS New York Red Bulls dominated the NPSL regular season, going en route to the Northeast Division title. They ve also outscored their opponents 62-7, scoring five or more goals seven times. The club s top scorer is Victor Manosalvas, who has 13 goals and seven assists this season. GREAT LAKES WEST CHAMPS In its first season of existence, Lansing United won the Great Lakes West Conference. The club finished with 28 points, one more than second place DCFC. The Indiana Fire finished third with 21 points. UNBEATEN STREAK Lansing United is currently on an eight-match unbeaten streak (not counting the friendly vs. San Marino). Its last loss was over a month ago, on July 8, against the Cincinnati Saints. 2 last Sunday night, while a record crowd of 2,014 witnessed United clinch the Great Lakes West against DCFC at DeMartin Stadium on July 13. After nine home matches, total attendance at the East Lansing Soccer Complex this season was 9,329. The average attendance per game is was 1,037. STATS OF NOTE Goalkeeper Zach finished with 38 saves in the regular season, including a seven save performance against the Indiana Fire on July 11, the most he made in a single-game in the regular season. He recorded a shutout in one-third of the matches he appeared in during the regular season. Defender Austin is the only player to start in all 16 games this season. The Olivet College product also has played in all 1470 minutes. Brian is the only other player to feature in all 16 games. Twenty-five different players who saw action in a Lansing United uniform listed 13 different schools as their previous clubs : Michigan State (4), Detroit Mercy (4), Spring Arbor (3), Western Michigan (3), Oakland (2), Wheaton College (2), Madonna (2), University of Michigan (1), Colgate (1), Olivet College (1), Northwood (1), Northern Illinois (1), and Saginaw Valley State (1). Canadian international Tyler has only played in 10 games but is making a big impact offensively.
