Our facilities provide a variety of recreational skating opportunities for participants of all ages and skating abilities. Important Information It is recommended that all patrons wear a CSA-approved helmet. Children ages five and younger must wear CSA-approved helmets during Recreational Skates. Shoes and boots are not permitted on the ice. Skating aids and other equipment are not permitted on the ice during Recreational Skates. Exceptions may be made based on individual circumstances. Recreational Skates are for non-instructional use only. Conducting private lessons during these designated times is prohibited. Skate with direction of skaters. No skating backwards, figure skating or horse play. The Recreational Skating Rules are posted in each arena lobby. The Town of Richmond Hill reserves the right to deny access to individuals deemed to be in violation of these rules. All arenas are subject to maximum capacity. All programs are subject to a 10-minute ice resurfacing. The Town of Richmond Hill does not provide skate rental or sharpening services. Public Skate Ages: All These skates are open to participants of all ages. Skating aids and other equipment are not permitted on the ice. Shinny: Coed/Women s/men s Ages: 16 and older Do you love to play hockey and want some extra ice time? Come out to shinny for an opportunity to improve your hockey skills and play some great games. Pick-up games are planned by those in attendance and goalies play for free. All players must wear full hockey equipment. All planned recreational skating exclusion dates are listed on the Recreational Skating Schedule on page 113 of this guide. We will do our best to post notifications at the arenas and on social media in advance of any additional skate cancellations. 112

4 Program information Skating is a great way to stay active and have fun! Instructional skating programs are available for all ages and skill levels and lessons are taught in a safe and fun environment. Equipment CSA-APPROVED HOCKEY HELMETS WITH FACEMASKS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS 16 YEARS AND YOUNGER IN REGISTERED PROGRAMS. CSA-APPROVED HELMETS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS IN REGISTERED PROGRAMS. Bicycle and ski helmets are not acceptable. The Town of Richmond Hill does not provide skates. Full Hockey equipment is required for all hockey programs including neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, jock/ jill, hockey pants, shin pads, hockey jersey, hockey socks, helmet with facemask, hockey skates, and hockey stick. The 45-minute lesson is followed by 15 minutes of free, unstructured skating time. The fee for this program is per person; parents and children register individually.
