2 ARTICLE 1 Category Category Mosquito Grade(s) 5th and 6th grade ARTICLE 2 Team Composition 2.1. The minimum number of players for each team is nine (9) Substitutions can be made at any moment during the game. All player substitutions must be made at the players bench and the player must exit completely the field before his teammate can enter the field The games are played with four (4) players and one (1) goaltender on the field for each team There must be a girl on the field at all time. If a team does not have a girl, they must play with one less player on the field. ARTICLE 3 - Game Format 3.1. The nineteen teams are separated into four pools. After the round robin period, the four (4) teams with the most points in each pool will play to access to the quarter-finals. The four winning teams will play in the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will face each other in the final. Win: 2 points Tie: 1 point Loss: 0 point ARTICLE 4 Playing Time 4.1. The games will consist of two (2) halves of twelve (12) minutes (running time).there will be a one (1) minute break between each half There will be no over time. Even scored games will result in a tie. 4.3 No time-outs are allowed. ARTICLE 5 - Equipment 5.1.Player s equipment 2

Goaltender s equipment Only ball hockey goaltender equipment is allowed Mandatory equipment - Helmet with mask - Goaltender stick with plastic blade - Goaltender pads - Goaltender catch glove and blocker Optional but strongly recommended - Chest protector - Goaltender pants (thigh protector) Forbidden - Ice hockey goaltender pads - Elbow pads - Shoulder pads or any chest protector that covers the back - Any protection concerning shoulders and arms that provide an unfair advantage - Any shirt that provides an unfair advantage 5.3. The ball hockey is used during games. The ball has holes and has a plastic bag inside of it. ARTICLE 6 Game Rules 6.1. Faceoff A faceoff will take place at the following moments: a) At the beginning of each period (center of field) b) After each goal (center of field)

4 c) After an infraction (in the zone of the penalized team) 6.2. Use of hand a) Players are not allowed to stop the ball or hit the ball with their hand (closed or opened). In case of an infraction, possession of the ball is given to the opposing team 6.3. Off-side a) The off-side is attributed to the last team who touches the ball when it exited the playing surface. Possession of the ball goes to the opposing team near the area where the ball left the playing surface. b) If the ball touches the goaltender before exiting the playing surface, possession of the ball goes to the opposing team near the area where the ball left the playing surface. c) If the ball is immobilized by the goaltender, the possession of the ball goes to his team. The player resumes the game with the ball behind his goal line. d) When the ball is put back in play at the referee s whistle, the player has five (5) seconds before the opposing team can try to approach him and take the ball away. During those five (5) seconds, a distance of two (2) meters must be respected between opposing players. The player putting the ball back in play can choose to directly shoot at the net, advance with the ball or pass Penalty application All minor penalties result in a penalty shot. a) A player who receives three (3) penalties during the same game will be expelled. The referee will signal to the coach that the player cannot play for the rest of the game. However, the expelled player can come back to play as soon as the following game. b) The following penalties will not be counted towards the accumulation of the three (3) penalties that can lead to a player s expulsion. - High stick - Bench penalty - Touching the ball with their hand Types of penalties Minor penalty Extreme misconduct penalty Sanctions Penalty shot starting from the center of the field The player is expelled from the game. The player must leave the field and his team must serve his major penalty shorthanded. Once the penalty served, the team can play with all players on the field

5 Types of penalties a) High stick The stick cannot exceed the height of the player s waist at all times at all times. For a slap shot, the maximal allowed height remains the waist. b) Knee (s) on the ground A player cannot touch or try to block the ball while having one or two knees in contact with the ground or while sitting or lying on the playing surface. A defensive slide results in the same sanction. This penalty applies to goaltenders if they are outside of the crease. However, a goaltender slide that was initiated in the crease is tolerated. c) Obstruction d) Hooking e) Holding f) Elbowing or kneeing g) Roughing, checking from behind and cross-checking h) Slashing and spearing Depending on the act, the referee will determine if the sanction is a minor or major penalty. An extreme misconduct penalty is given to any player who spears an opposing player. i) Fighting Any instigator or any player who participates in a fight is automatically expelled from the game and the tournament, as well as receives a j) Throwing a stick When a player including the goaltender, throws his stick or any other piece of equipment towards the ball, the referee will give a minor penalty to the player at fault. A minor penalty is given for unsportsmanship conduct to any player who throws his stick to manifest his anger, discontent or to injure another player. This rule applies at any area of play and no matter if there is an injured party. The sanction can be harsher depending on the player s act. ARTICLE 7 - Security 7.1. Before each game, the coach must make sure that no player is wearing jewelry (necklaces, chains, earrings, etc.).
